We were looking for a few days of peace and quiet. Chose this coach house based on location and flexibility offered by owners for booking. Doug answered all my questions promptly. Nikki was very friendly and welcoming. It’s situated right next to the Forest of Dean. Easy to get to Monmouth, Coleford, Gloucester. The house itself is within their own beautifully landscaped gardens. Every amenity and comfort was carefully provided. It ticked every box and fulfilled more than our expectations. I could go on forever! Suffice to say we recommend it to anyone looking for some R n R.

Cosy cottage, lovely location
We stayed here with our two children and had a very relaxing couple of days. It was very cosy and the kids loved the tennis court! It’s a nice spot for walks in the countryside.

Perfect spot to relax and explore the Wye valley and Forest of Dean
We spent 3 nights here at the end of the summer. The house is very comfortable and homely. Our boys especially enjoyed the pool and the tennis court, which the owners make available to you. In fact, the hosts were very nice people and really look after their guests, whilst offering you complete privacy. We will stay here the next time we stay, we really enjoyed our visit. The local pub is great and everything is right on your doorstep. Happy holidays.

A beautiful 5* Coach House.
What an amazing property. Everything we needed and more. The layout inside the Coach House was perfect for two couples. Plenty of space, more than enough comfy chairs and dinning chairs. Two bathrooms and a cute kitchen made for a fantastic Easter Weekend. All of us would highly recommend this property.

We wanted to explore Wales and visit a number of castles in the area and we thought this cottage would be a good location to travel from. The cottage has been updated and it was very clean and well maintained. Doug (owner) was nice enough to have eggs, butter, bread and a bottle of wine waiting for us at check in. Him and his wife were extremely friendly, helpful and easy to work with. We had dinner at The White Horse pub (down the street) and the food and service were very good. While we traveled in November (not the greatest weather in England) we were lucky as the temps were in the high 50's and the days were sunny. While the cottage is a little hard to find, we were able to travel everywhere from this location which was very convenient. We visited Pembroke Castle, Caerphilly, Cardiff Castle. Chepstow, Raglan and a few more. I'm sure that the pool and tennis courts would be nice to use if we came at a different time. I would recommend this cottage and working with Doug was a pleasure.

The Buckstone House Coach House is a joy to stay in. We felt immediately welcome, with a personal greeting from Douglas (the owner) and wine, milk, eggs, and bread awaiting us.
The house's charming layout is full of personality with plush furnishings, interesting antiques, and little loving touches peppered throughout. Both levels of the house are clean and cosy, the comfortable lounge and dining area being perfect for a social/family getaway whilst offering guests privacy with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. We were pleased to find maps and a great deal of useful information about the area in the kitchen and living room, meaning we could enjoy long walks in the Forest of Dean without getting lost.
The local pub - The White Horse - is a very short walk down the road and serves gorgeous food and local beers, with the bonus of an open fire and a friendly dog.
Our stay was extremely peaceful and relaxing, thanks to Douglas' attention to detail in this high-quality accommodation. We would love to come back in the warmer months to test the pool and the tennis court.
Thank you again, Douglas, for the wonderful reception.

Peaceful, beautiful and central location
Big house, more than appropriate for a family of four. Very nicely appointed. Excellent books, maps, etc.
Beautiful surroundings - fields, sheep, horse, wild rabbits, village church, forest. Complete quiet.
Owners of the main building (The Buckstone House) have a magnificent, truly beautiful large garden, placed between the two houses. A bit uncertain about access to it, though; perhaps hosts could be clearer about where to go, and where not to go. Our Coach House had its own private corner with beautiful view and quality garden furniture, though. Nice, heated pool.
Perfect cleanliness.
Doug is a most thoughtful host.
Location right on the border between Wales and Gloucestershire was perfect for our purposes - allowed trips by car - and by foot - in all directions, near and far.
We were very happy about our choice.

What a gorgeous place to stay. Wonderful beds and perfect linen - like a gorgeous hotel suite but with so much space. It's better than a home from home! Explains why I have chosen to return multiple times rather than stay in a local hotel when working nearby. Nothing is too much trouble for Doug - the perfect host - just a shame that he can't fix the weather sometimes ;-) New boiler fitted when we were there and now the showers are as good as the rest of the property. Lovely touches with fresh bread, milk and local farm eggs provided on arrival. Birdsong in the morning, deer along the road, horse when you look out of the window into the paddock next door - haven't seen wild boar though and they are supposed to be rampant in the area. And the White Horse is literally just along the lane when you want nice pub food in a great friendly local pub. Great local walks just a shame the weather wasn't right for using the tennis court or swimming pool - I must return in the summer!
