About this house rental

A stylish and comfortable Grade II listed Regency townhouse set over four floors, on a traffic-free lane in one of Ramsgate's prettiest garden squares, with great views of the sea and the picturesque Royal Harbour just a few steps from the front door. The setting is quiet and secluded, yet moments from the beach and town centre. Waitrose supermarket is two minutes away, as is historic Addington Street with its characterful cafes, pubs and shops. A classic Regency town house arranged over four floors which is accessed via a traffic-free lane looking out onto a beautiful communal, enclosed lawn (a gated garden square with trees, flowers and bench seats, open to all). There are 2 bedrooms: one double and one with 2 single beds, plus a travel crib (no additional person charge for infants). There is one bathroom on the 1st floor (bath with shower over). The house is family-friendly (though with steep stairs) with toys, books and games as well as practical kit such as a travel cot, high chair, step stool, kids cutlery, cups, bowls etc and stair gates. This is a quirky, period house which is tall and skinny with a rather steep flight of stairs between each floor and low ceilings in some places. We've found that encouraging younger children to come down stairs backwards on hands and knees is a safe way to negotiate the steps. We do provide stair-gates for extra peace of mind for parents *Living Space* The front door opens straight onto the sitting room on the ground floor, which has lovely views over the communal gardens. There are two 2-seater sofas, two armchairs and a padded bench seat, plus a wall-mounted flat screen TV and bluetooth speakers. The house has broadband and Wi-Fi. Details in the house guide. The top section of the paneled cupboard near the TV contains a selection of games, jigsaws, books and magazines. *Kitchen* The large kitchen-diner downstairs (lower ground floor) has a good-sized dining table, high chairs to suit infants and older children and a large, comfortable pew seat for relaxing. The kitchen area is fully equipped, with a range-style cooker, fridge-freezer, microwave, toaster, dishwasher and an extensive range of crockery, cutlery, glassware, cookware and utensils. A good selection of children’s cups, plates, bowls and cutlery are also provided. We provide a starter pack of tea, fresh coffee, milk & sugar so you can have a hot drink on arrival. Cleaning and washing-up basics as well as a starter pack of dishwasher and laundry detergents are also provided. *Bedrooms & Bathroom* Steep and rather narrow stairs lead upto the master bedroom on the first floor, which has a standard double bed (note not queen or king due to narrow access in the house), plus a wardrobe, a small dressing table and chair and a hair-dryer. The family bathroom with shower over the bath is just along the hallway. A small selection of children’s bath toys, a child’s step stool and a non-slip bath mat are also provided. There is a washing machine and separate tumble dryer in the cupboard in the bathroom. An external door in the bathroom leads to a small balcony with a retractable washing line (there is also a clothes airer stored beneath the bed in the master bedroom). Pegs for hanging out washing are in a container on the shelf above the dryer. Another short flight of steep stairs leads to the second bedroom on the top, which has two standard single beds with storage drawers beneath, and a wardrobe and dressing table. There is a pop-up travel cot stored in the cupboard above the stairs just outside this room. *Parking & Transport* The house is in a peaceful, garden square in a conservation area. There is no designated parking with the house, although you may stop outside the front of the house for loading and unloading only. There is free parking on the opposite side of the road and on surrounding streets (not the seafront). There is also a multi-storey car-park close by on Leopold Street. Alternatively, forget the hassle of the car and take the train. Ramsgate rail station is 15 minutes walk from the house (taxi rank outside the station or call Central Cars 01843 601601 or via App). There are regular, reliable high speed train links to Ashford, London St Pancras and London Victoria etc, as well as frequent rail services to Margate, Canterbury, Whitstable, Deal, Dover and other nearby towns. Public transport (the Loop bus service) between Ramsgate-Broadstairs-Margate is excellent. Guests have full access to the entire property; the house has its own front door. There is no shared access, and the owner lives elsewhere. None directly, but locally-based Co-Host is always available by phone if any problems or questions. There is a guide in the house with all contact details, as well as info about how things work in the house, local tips and recommendations etc. The property is very centrally located in the heart of Ramsgate's West Cliff neighbourhood. Although the town centre and the beach are close by, the area is secluded and generally quiet and safe. Ramsgate is a small, compact town, so walking is a good option. Walking or especially cycling along the coastal path is a great way to get around. For further afield the Loop bus service runs between Ramsgate-Broadstairs-Margate and surrounding areas very frequently. The nearest bus stops to the house are on Queen Street, close to Waitrose. Ramsgate Railway Station is 15 minutes' walk away (or 5 mins in a cab - try Central Cars, call 01843 601601 or via their App), with frequent high-speed services to London St Pancras, Canterbury and Ashford, as well as trains along the coast to Dover or to Whitstable and all stations in between.
