About this house rental

The Desert Crafted Getaway is a locally owned and newly remodeled family home in Yucca Valley. We’ve been in this area since the 70’s and know how to have a good time in the desert. We are 15 minutes from the JT National Park Entrance, 11 minutes from Pappy & Harriet’s and very close to anything else you may need. Enjoy comfortable lounging in the wide spaces of our large piece of property and amazing views at both sun up and sunset. Be our guest and put our service to the test. Cue Music!! Whether the family that you travel with is one you were born with or one that you chose, this is a family home and the place for you. I grew up in this house, it is open, spacious and perfect for a group of people who love to be together in a welcoming place. Here you’ll enjoy awesome sunsets and 360 views while sitting around the fire pit. You'll have tons of room for activities on our large piece of property and all that you’ll need for preparing large meals together, movie nights, and crafting your perfect stay. Upon booking you’ll be able to count on us for recommendations, help planning and local invites. Just a Few House Highlights BBQ Clean Hair Driers Strong WiFi Pet Giraffe? Fire Stick TV Local Insight Keyless Entry Board Games Horseshoe Pit Onsite Parking Awesome Vibes Baby High Chair Children's Swing Set Custom Wood Work Extra Large Back Yard Blinds In All Bedrooms Brand New Comfy Beds Irrepressible Need to Smile Often Kitchen Highlights Blender Ice Maker Crock Pot Coffee Pot Microwave French Press Sharp Knives Toaster Oven Waffle Maker Electric Kettle The entire house is yours with its bright and welcoming atmosphere and custom design. We offer three very large bedrooms and a large sunk in living room that, in total, sleeps 9 people quite comfortably. There are two full bathrooms, both with a shower tub, endless hot water and awesome water pressure (its something that I look for when I’m traveling, gotta love a strong shower). You’ll also find a full open kitchen with everything you’ll need to collaborate over large awesome meals with your people. There's lots of space for groceries and a dinning room that can comfortably seat all guests at the bar and our custom made wooden table. There is plenty of free parking on site and it is a safe area where you won’t have to worry about your things overnight. Our home is located on a large piece of property in a very nice, quiet neighborhood in town that is minutes away from anything you may need. We are very close to all of the main local attractions including Pappy and Harriet's, thrift and antique stores, Joshua Tree National Park as well as grocery stores and so much more. Fun fact, our family has been here since the 70’s and Pappy and Harriet (the actual original owners of the restaurant) were family friends. In the front yard you'll find a very peaceful sitting area among the trees. You’re likely to see humming birds fly in and take a sip from our feeder. Across the street our neighbors have llamas and goats that are fun to watch, the goats like to play tether ball. In the large back yard you can sit and watch our local wildlife dodge through the bushes. Looking into the back yard in the morning as the sun rises and hits the San Bernardino mountains to the west, it turns them purple and slowly lights our valley. It's my favorite part of waking up early. In the evenings you’ll find a broad sunset filled with incredible colors looming over the same mountains, there’s nothing quite like it. These walls have a long tradition of happy smiling people and we hope that you'll keep that going. Please note as smoking and vaping is not allowed inside the house or garage there are comfortable areas outside that are equipped for your smoking needs. You will also find places to dispose of cigarettes buts and like things. No pets are allowed at any time No Exceptions!! The roof in the living room was leaking when we arrived. :( There was a giant wet spot on the ceiling, and a hole with rain dripping onto the couch! We had travelled a long distance with children and seniors, so we couldn't go home easily. The place smelled of glade plug-ins which was not very pleasant, and the smell stayed in our clothes and luggage when we got home. On the upside, I could tell the owners really tried to make the place nice, with really cute desert decor. The problem was the mechanics of the place- a swingset that tipped over when the kids swing, the leaking roof, dirty window frames that sent dirt into the house when we opened the windows, really damaged patio furniture. We notified the owner of the leaking roof and their remedy was a laughably tiny refund off a very expensive stay. That was really disappointing. We felt stuck there.

A great place to stay. It is clear the owner puts in the effort to make the experience a good one. Little details like sharp knives, nightlights, interesting decor make the difference. Highly recommended!
