Our oceanfront home combines the historic charm of the classic Nags Head beach cottage with spacious modern living. It offers privacy, convenience, your own walkway to the beach and an oasis to enjoy your gathering. You’ll find the Main house and the Cottage co-exist in harmony. The original updated 1940’s 4-bedroom oceanfront Cottage is connected by covered walkway to an exquisite, modern, 9-bedroom house. Natural wood throughout ties the buildings together with a warm glow, inviting you to savor your time with family and friends. Each bedroom is well appointed with ensuite bathroom. Situated on an acre of oceanfront property, the Cottage is an anomaly in Nags Head with over 9,500 sq ft of indoor living space and, best of all, 2,500 sq ft of sundecks and covered porches. If your family has grown enough to fill a small hotel, then Crawford Cottage is the perfect fit. Special features include elevator, private pool, hot tub, cool dipping pool (3 ft depth), poolside cabana lounge, game room with wet bar and pool table, playroom with a ping pong table, 2 full well appointed kitchens (one in the Main House and smaller one in the Cottage), large rooftop sundeck with oversized chess board, screened porch, antique heart pine flooring, smart TV's, gas fireplace, wet bar with ice maker, ceiling fans, 3 washer/dryers and outdoor showers. You’ll find a special and memorable space for all guests at Crawford Cottage! Below is an overview of the sleeping accommodations: In the Main House (9 bedrooms total) * Top Floor - 1 King room with ensuite bathroom (handicap accessible). The top floor includes the kitchen, main living area, covered screen eating area, sitting balcony and ocean views. * 2nd Floor - 4 King rooms, 2 Queen rooms All of the second floor bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms; please note one of king bedroom shares a Jack& Jill bath with one of the queen bedrooms; otherwise all other rooms on this floor have private bath/shower. This floor includes a small TV lounge with sitting balcony, a coffee/wet bar, the main laundry room and access to the large sun deck. One of the King rooms includes a futon bed. * 1st floor - 2 Children/teen bedrooms One of the bedrooms has 2 pyramid bunk beds (double bed on bottom/twin above) and second bedroom has 2 twin beds. There is a Jack & Jill bath connecting the children's room, as well as another full bath on this floor in the main area. This floor also houses the game room with TV area and pool table and has direct access to the pool cabana and pools. In the original Cottage: (4 bedrooms total) Master bedroom - King bed with ensuite bathroom 2nd bedroom - King bed shared bath with children’s room Children’s bedroom - 2 twin beds Bunk room - 1 twin bed, 1 bunk bed with ensuite bathroom The Cottage originally built in 1947 is a quintessential Nags Head home. It has been lovingly restored but maintains its original charm. It is all on one one floor with a kitchen and open living area. There are three bedrooms off of the living area and the 4th bedroom (referred to as the teens bunk room) is connected to the large playroom with ping pong table.

Lets start with the good - Host was great and very responsive. House was big and good for a large group. Lots of nooks and spaces for people to spread out.
The not so good. House is older and could use better maintenance. Walkway to beach is bad. They say wear shoes to avoid splinters ... I say it needs to be replaced. Second house is dark and musty. Living room couch is not really a couch but outdoor patio furniture.
Overall, I was expecting the house to live up to its 4.8 Star rating so my expectations were high... I feel a 3 or 3.5 star rating is more in line.

Exceeded expectations! Our first visit to OBX with the whole family. Kids especially loved the pool! Access to the beach, and the third floor balcony overlooking the ocean, what more could you want? Plenty of space, loved having the older cottage as a quiet spot option. Sandy was an excellent communicator and fantastic host! Highly recommend.

The property was just as advertised. We all enjoyed the two pools and the hot tub. It was maintained twice during our week. The house was fully stocked including tons of beach towels. All the bedrooms were very comfortable with adjoining bathrooms. There were 17 of us and the teenagers loved the smaller cottage. We would highly recommend this property. Also the owner (Sandy) was wonderful to work with.

This was the perfect space for a multiple family get together. Plenty of space for our group of 25 to spread out and large areas for us to all gather together. Sandy was an excellent host and very prompt with responses to any questions we had.

All my siblings, nieces, nephews and parents spent the week at Crawford Cottage and the 26 of us had plenty of space for the week!! The house had so much for the kids to do and the fact we were right on the beach and had our own pool was even better!! If we ever come back to OBX we will definately be looking this one up again.

We had a marriage celebration at the cottage with 30 of our closest friends and family and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Everyone felt at home. The house provided all that we needed. We took a chance with the weather for March but the sun came out and we enjoyed the beach too! Many many memories made at Crawford Cottage.

Sandy is amazing to work with, and the home is beautiful. There are a few things that need touched up, ie a few broken screens in the porches. But the home is beautiful, in a great location, and easy for everyone to be around in- plenty of room for everyone to be in or outside if they want to be alone away from the rest of the group.

My now husband and I vacationed here with our closest friends and family from 5/17/22-5/23/22. We had 25 people staying at the house. We also held our wedding at Crawford Cottage on 5/21/22. I cannot say enough good things about Crawford Cottage. There is ample space for everyone and so much to do just at the house. From the easy walk to the beach, the pool, to the pool table, and the bar located on the lower level. Just WOW. It has something for everyone.
In addition to vacationing at Crawford Cottage we held our wedding with 65 people at this location. Planning a wedding all in itself can be stressful, but Sandy made the process seamless and so easy. She exceeded all of my expectations and went above and beyond, from helping with coordinations to meeting up with our Wedding Planner and her team to look at the house (as we are from MA). And even sending flowers, (which made Mom cry within her first hour at the house). Between Sandy and the property manager, we always had responses within mnutes when something came up or we had questions. The house was everything we expected and then some. Our friends and family keep raving about Crawford Cottage and how nobody will ever be able to top our wedding/vacation week. This was the perfect space for us to host our closest friends and family!
We can't wait to come back someday and continue to make lasting memories.

This is a really great house. Lots of good gathering spots for family both indoor and outdoor. I wasn't sure how the two houses would work, but we really appreciated it and the smaller cottage has a really nice outdoor patio area that used a few evenings. Great to be right on the beach. This is probably a house that is slightly better suited to a higher children to adult ratio than what we had (as mostly adults are looking for en suite bedroom/bathroom set-up and if we had had our normal showing we would not have been able to accommodate), but as we were a smaller group than normal for the holidays it was just about perfect.

The best time ever
First of all Maria was fantastic. Super helpful and always answered any questions we had ! We had our wedding out on the deck and it was absolutely beautiful. Crawford Cottage was exceptional with regard to the location, accommodations and amenities provided. It was definitely up to the task of providing a wonderful beach vacation for a large group with diverse preferences. It is one of the more unique and interesting properties we have rented in the 20+ years we have vacationed on the Outer Banks!

The property is very well laid out, with every possible amenity you can imagine. It’s an older property, so some repairs and updates that haven’t been done are needed, but overall, in good shape.
The walkway to and from the beach is a disaster, with no railings or dune topped gazebo like the neighboring properties have. Notably horrible access FROM the beach leaving some older guests unable to go to the beach for fear of an ability to return to the house.
MOST upsetting was the pool maintenance. When we arrived, the water level was low, and pretty cloudy. When we mentioned it to the pool guy, he blamed us. BRAND NÉW ARRIVALS to the property. And said that we had too many people, and the pool was designed for only about 6 bathers. (That’s ridiculous!! Especially in a house designed to hold 24+ guests.). The pool was obviously leaking from somewhere? We hadn’t even enjoyed the pool at that time yet the pool guy was using US for his excuse.
There is an inside pool that was left green and wrinkled for our entire stay. Nobody would dare even set foot inside it.
Except for those noted aggravations, we enjoyed the property, and think it would be a total gem if the updates I noted are made.
