All of Buenaventura is very safe and secure, whether you are walking at night or during the day. With a large laguna at its center, it is easy to walk (and bike) around for kids and adults alike. The kiddie pool is within easy walking distance with a waterslide, adult pool and community gathering area, kayak and paddleboat dock, mango trees to harvest your breakfast (July - Sept), and a playground. A short walk or shorter drive brings you to the sports club, which has a workout gym, semi-Olympic size pool, sauna, tennis courts, basketball courts, and soccer (football) field (fee required). They give yoga, rhythmic gymnastics, tennis, and swimming classes. Arrangements can be made for private lessons as well. If you come during Panamanian school breaks or summer (Dec - Feb), they also have fantastic kids camps with activities such as horse riding, rock climbing, swimming, and tennis.
