The home is lovely and the host is very responsive. We loved the views and especially appreciated all of the items like kayaks, paddle boards, and bikes that were available for our use. We had an 8 night stay booked and unfortunately due to an incoming tropical storm we were only able to use 2 of the nights. As a midwesterner, I learned the hard way that there is a vast array of possibilities between you have to evacuate for a hurricane and insurance will refund you and it's comfortable and pleasant to use your rental. Projected floodwaters and the probable bog and mosquitos after they receded meant we couldn't comfortably stay at the property with our dog. It was disappointing, not to mention expensive to have to find a new rental property elsewhere in the middle of our vacation. We took the risk, traveling during hurricane season but I share knowing that I didn't realize that it wasn't just a true hurricane that could ruin things. If you're traveling with a dog(s), there are two things to be aware of: the home shares a driveway with a pet boarding facility and your fur friend may find the barking distracting when outside, and be prepared to protect your dog(s) from mosquito bites in some way. We've never seen the amount or ferocity of mosquitos that descended on our dog, for several hours in the morning and in the evening it was terrible. We could douse ourselves with DEET but we had to scramble to figure out how we could protect our dog when she had to go in the yard.

Great central location to explore the Outer Banks. The home has everything you need-beach chairs, kayaks, games, bikes, and a well stocked kitchen to cook if you choose!

We loved it and will be back in the summer. First trip to OBX and loved the remoteness of Rodanthe. The house we all we had hoped for and was a great family getaway for the Thanksgiving holiday. We are actually discussing making it a T'giving tradition moving forward.

The property was unassuming from the exterior and beautiful inside. Tami was very responsive to questions. We loved the panoramic view of the sound. The property was clean and well stocked with essentials. It was great having kayaks, stand up paddleboards, and plenty of games to keep people busy. We wish we had more time there!

I can't say enough good things about our fantastic stay at Hale Alahaka. Tami has an eye for detail, and it shows. From her fresh, vibrant renovation with upscale furnishings and original artwork to every part of the home being exceptionally clean and stocked, even the outdoor shower. This is a special property! It is sound front with a small sandy beach, room for our dogs to run around (there are natural barriers on both sides of the property), and an easy walk to the beach across the street. We used the kayaks to paddle out to the bridge to catch a view of the shipwreck (two sections to the left of the sign under the bridge). The beds were comfortable, as was everything else in the home. Tami stopped in to maintain the hot tub and we ended up chatting for a while. She really cares about her properties, and it’s easy to see. Staying here felt like a home away from home and we didn’t want to leave. In fact, if the house had been available, we would have stayed longer. Really looking forward to our return and the stunning sunsets from the deck, swing, or with our toes in the sand on the private beach. Loved it!
