Great one night stay at The Tides. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The location is great within walking distance of downtown and the beach is a minute walk. We would definitely stay again.

We enjoyed the Tides for a short getaway in Laguna Beach!

Customer service wasn't bad. The room in opinion didn't meet standards. The need to fix theirs walls, the bed it's all chipped, and the room given to us was tiny there was barely leg room

A quaint, old, well maintained two level motel with upscale bath products, a kitchenette and a really good location for hanging out in Newport Beach. Very friendly staff.

What a memorable and amazing experience! Highly recommended while in Laguna beach! The service was top-notch: attention to details, personalized welcome note, overall helpfulness. The room was spacious, clean, lots of cool details. They had a heated pool which we used every evening. Plus, it’s right across the street from a beautiful park and a beach. Reasonably priced for OC.

So … read all of this for the full picture.
We had booked 2 nights and had a small room - which was fine - but there was no window in the room itself.
However, we liked the hotel, so asked about adding an extra night - but changing room.
We did so and got room 214. It’s an upstairs room with a view over to the ocean.
It was a much bigger room for not a huge price difference (our initial booking was across new year which is why this might not have been available).
This room was much bigger with a kitchenette.
The staff at the hotel were really helpful and, rather than the 4 hours between check out and re check in - got a room ready for changing at 11am.
Pool area was nice and we sat by the fire of an evening (it was December/January).
You are a short walk from a supermarket which is good & a short walk downhill to the town.
If you cross the road towards the ocean - the park/gardens at the beach area are beautiful.
As for Laguna Beach itself - it’s a very pretty place with some nice shopping.
Not a lot of ‘cheap’ options - although we went up and past the supermarket and had an amazing burger from the roadside place there (I’d highly recommend doing this).
If you’re looking for a glitzy hotel - you’ll look at pictures and book somewhere else.
This, however, brings a real pleasant environment to stay in with friendly people working there - I’d take that any day (along with the money I’d be saving).

What a cute place! It was definitely clean, well located, and felt very safe. I stayed in the queen room with kitchenette. The room was huge and had lot of space. The bathroom was small and the shower very small, but it did get hot water quickly. I will be coming back to stay!

Was on 2nd floor in large room with kitchen. Very clean and comfortable. Very large bedroom, separate sitting/dining room and a galley kitchen with everything we needed. Wood floors look recently refinished - they sparkled!
Loved the decorations. Comfortable beds with lots of pillows. Windows face towards Pacific Coast Hwy and the pool - no problem if road noise does not bother you. There are supplied ear plugs for those who don’t like road sounds.
3 min walk to the beach and magnificent sunsets. 5 min walk to restaurant and market and 10 min walk downtown.
All in all, very nice room.

The staff are very accommodating. Rooms cutely furnished; comfy beds. Nice linens and towel. Two frustrations — the hot water was very slow to heat up in two different rooms. Ran the shower for at least 5 minutes to get it hot enough. A real no-no in drought-prone California. Second issue is the paper-thin walls. Heard low talking voices til 1:30 a.m. on one side and someone carrying on a very long, loud cell phone conversation at 5:15 a.m. on the other side. No way to stop ‘em or get away from it. It’s an old place so no thick walls to dull the sound but solely based on that, I wouldn’t stay again. Too bad cause it’s a fun, funky place with a good location on Coast Highway in north Laguna Beach.

The hotel was very cute, unique and had character! It was not the cookie cutter hotel and room like the larger chains. Parking was great! The pool area was so nice! We loved our room and the amenities. The staff was very friendly!

Everything was great except that at 6;00 am the clock alarm went off and woke us up. If only the house keeper would have checked it to see that there was no alarm set.

Super helpful staff. They were friendly and allowed us to leave our luggage in the main office until check in. Once they contacted us that our early check in was ready, they moved our bags to our room. It was super great that they offered towels, boogie boards, and chairs for the beach with our stay!

It was close to location of work. Close to the highway was rather noisy through.

The Tides provides very good value for the money. So close to downtown Laguna Beach. Walk to everything! And free self-accessible parking was a bonus. We went in October and used the outdoor fireplace next to the pool at night to chill after our long walks.

Didn’t find out there was no remote to the TV till very late, but that was okay

My favorite place to stay in Laguna Beach! It’s clean, a quick walk to the beach (we could even see the ocean when we left our upper floor room), and the staff are always so friendly and helpful. So fantastic, especially at the price!

Old school ‘motor hotel’ where you can park outside your door. Has great vintage feel but nice modern touches. Comfy bed and pillow, super plush towels, kitchenette with coffee micro fridge plates etc. two story bldg and I was in room 105 which is in a corner and quiet from any street noise. 2 chairs in small private patio behind a hedge. Only real negative is the in-wall AC unit blows directly on your head while in bed. I set up a blocker with pillows and it was fine.
Also service very nice and personal. I was a late arrival and they called me to give self check in details. I’d definitely come back 👍

Clean, older property that is very close to beautiful beaches and Heisler Park.

The Tides was a perfect location, within walking distance to all amenities, and a great scenic beach walk. The reason for my not-so-stellar review is that the floors and walls are paper thin (it's an old property) so I could hear conversations and feel footsteps above and near me during my stay. If you book, I hope you don't end up in Room 210 (if I remember correctly) as that is a tiny corner room with ZERO natural light.

Excellent place to stay in Laguna. Right across the street from the Main Beach. Can’t be the value, location, and hospitality!
