Very outdated hotel. Terrible service and all food and alcohol options were horrible. The only nice part is the beach.

Food, service and cleanliness were awful. So many mosquitoes didn’t let us sleep. We paid for premium and the service was still not good.

A great resort for families with young children. Lots of entertainment options, food was excellent, everything was very clean and safe. Not a lot of options for excursions to the local towns, but there's enough to do to keep you occupied for a week. We had a very relaxing holiday and would love to come back!

The nature was really beautiful.

The resort was beautiful and there was plenty to do. The staff was super friendly - if you do not speak Spanish be prepared for some language barriers. The pools and beach were fun but we could never get a spot to sit or a chair so it would be nice if they had more. The only disappointing thing was the food. The restaurants were good but you had to make reservations so we went to the buffets for breakfast and lunch. The food just wasn’t that good…. Undercooked eggs every time and no healthy options.

Very bad experience, full of mosquitoes and not hygiene.
Got sick for several reasons

Beach area not clean, food not hot in buffet.

Beautiful property directly on the beach. Very well maintained . Most staff speak little English , mostly Spanish, so it was alittle hard to communicate but managed . Night entertainment started alittle late , 10pm so only saw one . Overall a great place to stay

This property is beautiful. I loved all of the restaurants and the beaches are beautiful. My only complaint is that we did not have cold water for a few hours the last 2 days.

I thought staff could be more friendly, with smile and facial expressions. Very cold face and little desire to be there. I thought the steak house didn't have good steak while calling themselves a steakhouse. I thought a general overview of the property, and restaurants as they apply to the guest package would have been helpful. We had to find where and what was available to us by just searching which took days out of our stay.

OMGGGGG AMAZING. You won’t even know where to begin. Food & alcohol all inclusive. They don’t skimp out. Bring your beach bag, a yeti cup, and cash in $1s just for tipping. You will be set.

everything was ok, nothing special. Food ok, not great

Food was 8/10 lacking a little bit of sazón considering it’s DR but everything else was amazing, they have a lot of included activities such as water ones that include kayaking, paddle boats, and windsurf. Overall a great place to say the staff was amazing.

Shoreline is beautiful. Very good restaurants. Staff is very great but could work on house keeping. Starts out good but by the end of the stay it started to go down, so we stopped tipping.

The good: This place has evolved since my last visit over 20 years ago. More modern rooms and updated areas.
The layout of the golf course, soccer and baseball fields provides easy access from anywhere in the property.
The facility has a centralized place for most restaurants, the Casino and the Disco bar.
The bad: The snack bar is the only one to offer off hours food and since it is a full bar, it is very crowded.
There are not snack bars on the swimming areas, so you have to be dried and covered if you want to eat while on the beach or pools.
Check in or check out process are not very efficient. There are many lanes leading to the front desk when maybe 1 clerk is attending, allowing for confusing customers to jump in front of you. Complete disaster.
Room readiness is not warrantied. You could get a room with someone else welcome package, or a room that someone else is already inside, or a room that could still be dirty, or a room that the A/C has a water leak, or a room that still smells like crap.
The food in the buffet is very low quality. Either food is overcooked, or kept from last night warming up. Only the food done at the grill stations is better. There are not very options with the cheese or the ham and supplies are not keeping up with the amount of guests. Bread was good and the smoke salmon was great.
A la carte restaurants are deceiving. They take forever to bring the food. Do not go to the Japanese restaurant as the food and sushi are really bad. So Brisas

I visited this property to celebrate my birthday. Upon arrival the check in desk staff was very inattentive. They seem to act like they did not want to service us. Next issue was the washcloths. None were available in the room when we first entered. I called multiple times for washcloths. They only brought towels. Someone finally brought one washcloth our second day of being there. Lastly the FOOD IS HORRIBLE!!! You have to make reservations for the somewhat okay restaurants which are usually all booked. The buffets are nasty asf. Same food which you usually don’t know what it is. We were turned away from the steakhouse our last night because my husband had on a sleeveless shirt but others were entering the same way. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PROPERTY IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO ENJOY THE FOOD or be treated fairly.

The common area of this resort is clean and orderly but the rooms are not as well kept. The sink in my room was clog and the resort was able to fix it promptly. The shower is not very functional and water leaks to walkway when in used. Phones in the room also not working.

The resort is beautiful, pool is great, the rooms is fine, but the mini fridge doesn’t work. Can’t have anything was inside, because is warm.
Service and food is terrible, very poor quality.
Drinks is okay, but the bartenders only couple was friendly. I don’t know if going back or recommending to a friend.

Worst resort ever

My family and I just returned from Barcelo Punta Cana on February 10th. Our stay here was incredibly disappointing. The biggest reason, as many other reviewers have shared, was the FOOD.
The food at this resort is downright disgusting, I am still processing it on my first day home. The quality and preparation of it is poor and unacceptable. Lots of variety of inedible dishes served and unappetizing dishes without labeling. You can tell many food items are leftover and used for multiple meals. There is a general sense that the entire resort is unsanitary.
The food situation at Barcelo has turned us off from ever returning to the DR. Barcelo corporate needs to take these consistent horrible food reviews seriously because it is truly abysmal. Our entire trip was soured because of it.
The beach was beautiful but it simply does not matter when you dread every single meal on your vacation. DO NOT VACATION HERE IF YOU ENJOY EATING.

Great private beach and outdoor pools

Room was good regarding size and layout but we there was several issues. Sink leaked all over the floor. Four attempts over four days, finally repaired on 4th attempt.
Safe did not work. Room entry bracelets needed to be reactivated several times. Sliding closet door stuck. Response to issues was prompt. Our daughter had the room next door and had no problems.
Buffet food sub par and limited selection. Restaurants were very good. Pool was good. Great beach but needed more shade. There were I shade structures just trees. This made the finding of consistent shade challenging. Lots of comfortable chairs.

We have stayed at Barcelo in Mexico and the didn’t compare. The food is terrible, the staff is rude and makes you feel like an inconvenience. The toilet in our room didn’t flush, the safe didn’t work, the door didn’t lock (that was fixed) and the air conditioner was inconsistent. There was not enough chairs at the pool or beach.

Everything was fairly close to each other - beach, pool, buffet, activities. Food was good, nice range of a la carte restaurants for dinners.
Small issues like no TV converter initially, had to get room safe repaired twice, otherwise OK.

It would have been better if the staff n waiters spoke English other than that it was great place to be specially the shows were really nice

We have travelled to this resort many times. I understand COVID changed many things, but the removal of staff who took drink orders around the very large pool was a bad idea. Now you have to get up at 6:30 am to secure a chair within 50ft of the bar, or youre walking 100's of feet for a drink. PS bring a YETI saves time walking back and forth.

The facilities are very nice and well kept. The beach is immaculate and the water crystalline. There is some seaweed but it’s removed every morning by hotel staff.
The pools are big and well kept. There are very good facilities for kids, kids club, pools with big slides… The food is average. The service was ok, in general (there were some exceptions) the staff was not as friendly as you’d expect for a hotel like this. They did not say good morning if you ran into them…
During breakfast you’ll find often two waitress shouting at each other in the breakfast area (playing) when you are trying to have a quiet breakfast. We did mention this to hotel management and noticed a small improvement at the end.
I believe additional training encouragement is required to improve this.

The resort and amenities were nice but the food is awful. Avoid the Mexican restaurant at all cost if you decide to stay here.
You will be pressured to tip at every turn and the service over all was disappointing.

I really enjoyed my stay at Barceló Bávaro
10.0
It’s a beautiful resort for everyone with lots of pools, fun activities, a very beautiful beach, and food option is really great.
One thing I would say the check in process could be little faster. We had little issue with safe not opening in one morning due to low battery and it took some time to get fixed while we could not go for activities. Staff was super nice as we have noticed throughout our stay. Love to go back in future and would really highly recommend to others.
