We loved our stay at this hotel. The staff was really nice, the room clean and comfortable . The location is perfect to visit all the city.

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at El Greco in Chania. It was a further walk from the bus station than I anticipated but less than 10minutes overall and allowed me to traverse Chania Old Town on the way. Situated on one of the most chic streets in the old town, you'll be within walking distance of the city's most photographed sites.
Very clean & well-maintained
Very helpful desk staff- great restaurant recommendations!

El Greco has an excellent location. Near everything anyone would like to see. Decent breakfast included.

The breakfast is very good. The hotel is right in the old town but away from a lot of commotion. We had trouble with the air conditioner but staff were able to fix it right away. I’m finding that booking through Expedia the room selection is usually not as good as directly booking with the hotel. Last time I booked through the hotel website and we got a room with a balcony view over the street. This time we got a back room with a view of a wall. Not happyn it’s Expedia. Rates might be good but you get dumped into a bad room.

This hotel is in a great location, shops and restaurants and the old port are close by. The Nea Chora beach is less than 15 min walk away. There is an excellent bakery opposite the hotel. We had a lovely room on the 3rd floor and it overlooked the street and partial view of the sea. Thank you to Flora and Aphrodite for keeping our room clean. Only downside was an uncomfortable mattress and a small bathroom. Also if you want to hire a car, parking is very difficult as it is very busy around that area. Breakfast was continental style and was available until 10:30. Thank you to the wonderful reception staff Effie and Katerina for being very friendly, informative and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you very much to Nikos the night staff who sorted out the television problem when it went wrong. We enjoyed our stay very much and look forward to returning and seeing the newly renovated El Greco next year. Thank you once again to everyone for a very pleasant stay. We highly recommend the

Fabulous area. The hotel claimed to be “accessible” but had two steps into the hotel and the lift was too small to fit a manual wheelchair. They did give me a downstairs room but I was unable to go to breakfast as that was down stairs. Great hotel but it is not accessible.

Lovely traditional hotel in one of the prettiest streets in Chania. Lovely staff& good breakfasts. Would definitely recommend.

This place is by far the worst place, I have ever stayed at. The internet is so horrible you might not even have it. The rooms came with no irons, so my clothes were wrinkled during my stay. The breakfast isn't really much. I grabbed my breakfast out in town.

This was a 5 star stay because of the perfect location on the West part of old town Chania. The hotel is located about a block inside old town which made its Chania alley location fabulous. It’s just a block away from the water and public (free and safe) parking. The front desk staff person was welcoming and helpful. Locked luggage storage if you need that. We had the trim with a terrace. The room comfort was fine. Wonderful breakfast and coffee. We loved exploring Chania!

Nice breakfast. Room on the smaller side. Washroom outdated with musky shower curtain but good for a short stay.

We were very comfortable in this hotel and had a 4th floor room with rooftop balcony. Elevator went only to 3rd floor, so the upper rooms are not suitable for anyone with mobility problems. Also, had to find our own parking a number of blocks away. Being right in the Old Town was very convenient, and made having a car there unnecessary. Would definitely stay here again.

Very cute hotel in the center of town. Directly across from a delicious bakery. Parking is not so easy, but available in the area nearby. Short walking distance from the harbor and all sights. Beautiful sunset and views from the rooftop terrace.

We loved our stay at EL Greco. As soon as we got there, the staff was super friendly and helpful. This hotels location is perfect. The Harbour and light house are super close, and no matter if you make a left or right into the alleys, you will find a charming little corner. I highly recommended. The only thing I didn't like were the beds because the mattress was too hard.

Good location, but so very loud. All the doors slam and voices echo in the tiled hallways, reverberating through you at all hours of the night. Shower is very awkwardly small.

Good hotel, well located right in the center of the city.

Location of the hotel was ideal - 10 min to harbor (old town, full of restaurants and shops) and 10 min to the beach. Hotel stuff were lovely and local people were charming.
Just to let you know - if you book a taxi from the hotel there is extra charge of 3 euro. Taxi fare from the airport to the hotel was 23 euro.
Hotel room didn't had any coffee/ tea making facilities but there is lovely cafe across the hotel serving Greek coffee for 2 euro.

excellent view. very quite place to stay. staff is very attentive and responsive for anything. breakfast was awesome.

Off season, but the staff was helpful and considerate of my requests. The bathroom is very basic but the rooftop pattio makes up for it, a little.

The room was on the fifth floor. It was only accesible via staircase from the fourth floor. Once on the fifth floor, you have to go through a large balcony/patio to get to the top two rooms. The view is amazing from there. At night it is windy, though, and the lighting is not good. I went in spring and the room was very cold. There was no heater, and no extra blankets. The bathroom seemed improvised, and the shower was horrible: small, no curtain, no pressure, and lukewarm water. The staff was not very helpful at reception, not giving many tips on sightseeing or local adventures. The best thing is its location. It is at a perfect distance from everything. (20min walk to the bus station).

I spent 4 nights in this hotel as a base to visit surrounding places in Western Crete and felt really comfortable and well located, on the quiet and charming side of the Old Town yet very close to everything and literally 10 min walk from the central station, not even 5 to the port and sea front through a maze of enchanting narrow alleyways. In fact, it was not easy to find this hotel, although once you do, you realize it is actually pretty straightforward.......!!!! Service was good, friendly and welcoming, breakfast rich, room and bathroom basic, but clean and with character. I did get a room with an amazing roof terrace, which I did not want to leave!! Also, if you do not have a car, ask at reception to see what's on offer re organised tours to Gramvousa-Balos, Samaria Gorge, etc if you are after no-brainers.

Comfortable hotel in a central location very near port and it's many restaurants. Very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms were of adequate size and air conditioner, toilet and shower all functioned properly. On a walk street with much character, outdoor dining and shops. Would recommend to others.

Breakfast good though limited. Good AC and water pressure. No good beach near hotel. Chania it self sucks. TOO MANY PEOPLE . If you like Times Square on New Years, go to Chania.

I spent a week at the El Greco on my own in June 2015. The room (106) was quite small but was OK for 1 - it would probably feel crowded for a two people. The room window faces onto a wall so there is not much light into it, but this also means that there is no direct sunlight hence the room did not get too hot. The air-con is quite basic but effective enough - the room never got cold, but I was able to sleep, etc. The bathroom was quite cramped, but everything in it worked well enough. (But note that the shower area is very small and larger-sized people will find it difficult.) The breakfasts were basic but were OK for me - I only eat small basic breakfasts anyway. The facilities in this hotel are very limited - there are the rooms, the breakfast room, a small lobby area with a few seats and the lobby, which is staffed 24 hours. There is no general air-conditioning.
This all sounds like I'm being negative, but I'm not. There are significant pluses:- it is inexpensive, and above all it is well-sited - just a couple of minutes' stroll down to Chania harbour front or into the Old Town. The building itself is old and characterful. The staff were friendly and helpful when I needed to ask them for something. They all spoke good english. The room was perfectly clean. Towels were replaced a couple of times during the week, the bedding wasn't.
To summarise, it's a budget hotel in a great location which delivers on what it promises.

We stayed here for several nights in January. The room was plain but clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. Good continental breakfast. In the summer the rooms on the street may be noisy.

I stayed at El Greco in Chania for a total 9 nights comprising two visits in two different rooms, one before and one after attending a conference in Crete. I was very pleased with my stay there. The air conditioning in the rooms provided a welcome break from the heat outside. It is in a good location in the old part of Chania easy to walk to all the main attractions in the City and yet reasonably quiet. It is an old building and each room has its own character. There was a generous buffet breakfast. After checking out I was able to leave my bags in a locked room until I set off for the airport. I would definitely stay there again.
