My wife and I stayed at the hotel for two nights and everything was just perfect. Most outstanding was the friendly and interactive way the staff engaged with us. The spa treatments were excellent and done in a highly professional manner. The hotel is close to many places in Johannesburg but in a quite environment creating the feeling of "at home" . We will definitive recommend the hotel to others and book again.

Great hotel. Only complaints were that the suite’s hot tub bubbles were not working / broken and they seemed to be leaving it broken vs plan to fix it when I asked about it. Also for some reason the staff would take away the complimentary large bottled water in the room during turndowns before I was done with it and then not replace it until the following afternoon.

The breakfast they offered had something for everyone and the food selections for other meals was varied. An extraordinarily and comfortable experience. You would not be disappointed if you choose this hotel.

Fabulous hotel! All the staff were friendly and so attentive. We stayed for two days without leaving the hotel and it was treat after treat. We booked a suite and enjoyed our balcony with jacuzzi. Bathroom was large and very beautifully presented. Spa treatments (body scrub and hot stone massage) were wonderful. Breakfast buffet was of finest quality and you could choose from a hot menu too. We also enjoyed our casual lunch and dinner and I thought the prices were very reasonable for the quality. Loved having a fridge with complimentary drinks and fresh milk for tea. Lots of beautifully furnished lounges to sit in and an amazing fishpond. Didn’t use the small gym but it had a good range of equipment. Everything has been thought of. Can’t wait to go back!

Stayed in the Presidential Suite, what could possibly be not to like? This hotel is a hidden gem in a very nice area of Johannesburg. Staff is fantastic, restaurant is excellent. Really did not want to leave the property... Will come back next time in South Africa.

No wonder it is the number 1 boutique hotel in Joburg. Impeccable property, incredible service and a five star restaurant to boot. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else while in Johannesburg. Special thank you to assistant manager Moses and the incredible chef. But all of the staff is amazing.

We have travelled the world and stayed in many fine hotels but this is the first hotel that we were awed by. Everything was wonderful. We wish that it was in Europe or somewhere closer to North America so that we could come back again but Johannesburg is too far for us to return to. it is an incredible place to stay and the neighbourhood is very affluent and safe. If there was an option of giving it a ranking above 5 we would.

I truly have to give 6 starts to the folks at The Residence, This was an AMAZING stay. The staff was absolutely outstanding from the moment we arrived to the moment we left, catering to our every need as if we had known each other for years. Special thanks to Mr. Warren and Ms. Charity for all they did for us. Words cannot explain how grateful my sisters and I are for all your care and attention. One of my sisters was going through a very difficult time, hence the reason for our brief getaway and you all made my efforts worth every second of the trip! This Residence is truly "boutique" in every sense of the word. This will definitely be my new 'home" when ever I visit Johannesburg.. and believe me, I shall be back! :-)! We work in the travel and hospitality industry, and this was by fare one of the best experiences we have EVER had. The Residence is exactly that. A place to call home. A place you never want to leave. The staff went above and beyond for us and were the most friendly, skilled and service minded we have ever experiences. This was truly a wonderful stay and I can only recommend this hotel to everyone visiting Joburg.

My only regret is that I didn't get the residence boutique to pick me up from the airport - to ensure the smooth stream of excellent service we received from the moment we arrived at the hotel. I would advise anybody to use their transport services, its affordable and gives one a sense of security and elegance that you don't get from an Uber Black. After being poured a glass of bubbly and asked some short questions, check in was done! No need for lengthy forms or waits (even though we arrived early for check in). The hotel and room decorations are wonderfully classic old school, without getting too heavy handed. There's a wonderful use of space so that you feel more like you are in a forest maison than in residencial Johannesburg. We had lunch at the restaurant, and everything was impecable. The tempura prawn was particularly delicious. But mostly I would have to commend the ever attentive, ever present staff. It was a wonderful stay, and I have already heartily recommended the lodge to my friends.

This is a hotel that bills itself as a luxury boutique hotel, and it is as far as the location goes, the service however is by far not matching it, and the bad attitude is only making it worse. I reserved for a luxury suite, and at check-in was presented with a sort of window gallery open to the swimming pool with absolutely no privacy, and no safety as essentially public walkways of the hotels had direct access to all my windows and glass doors. As I politely indicated that I could not take this kind of accommodation, the staff found me another suite, and although I was willing to pay for it, a young staff member (trainee?) indicated that the upgrade was complimentary and that he was happy that they could find something acceptable, to which I indicated that I was much obliged and thankful. Nothing wrong with that, except that at check-out, the price of the upgrade was included. When I asked what that was, I was sternly told that the upgrade was at that cost, and when I told about the staff person telling me that it was complimentary, after a long time debating in some back room, I was told that it was not right, and served a convoluted story about the upgrade being for my original luxury suite to the one I was presented at check-in (remember the one that had the privacy of a train station). And when I caught the staff in question, who was trying to hide as I was leaving, had even the nerve to tell the same story looking me in the eye telling me that he wasn't going to argue
