My stay was very fine. The mattress is a little too soft. And the room is a bit too small. There were broken clothes hangers. But service is excellent. Very good breakfast however no Glutin free bread or baked items.

Liked the excellent service by the staff on most fronts as well as the extremely convenient location next to Menlyn mall. The security is also guaranteed with a check point as you leave the hotel. Did not like that they do not accept to post a bill in the room if not using a credit card.

Very close to the mall, safe, and parking was easy to use. The room included breakfast buffet which was very nice and many options to choose from. The pool area became like club with DJ in the evening time, but you won’t hear them in the room. Overall it was good.

Never in my life have I experienced a dirty bathroom in a Marriott brand hotel! EVER. The property was beautiful but my room was NASTY! There was dried, crusted stains on the bathroom sink and dried dark matter around the rim of the toilet. It was late when I got in and I was exhausted and didn’t feel like changing rooms SO I CLEANED THE ROOM MYSELF. I informed the front desk the next morning but was not offered a discount of any kind. I feel that I should’ve been compensated for that. I paid over $100 US for that room in South Africa! Doesn’t feel good leaving there and not feeling like I got my money’s worth.

I was very disappointed with this hotel. I paid a higher corporate rate which was supposed to include shuttle service to my training site and the shuttle was unreliable. The food was terrible and the rooms were extremely dark. I ended my 14 day stay early and moved to a different hotel. The Protea did not meet my typical Marriott expectations.

The service was good. But the rooms are not sound proof. people walking & Talking in the passage almost feels like someone is right into your room, that was a bit unnerving. I guess that is a structural issue that cannot easily be resolved. The food was amazing! I just loved the proximity to Menlyn shopping center and to summit bar next door.

Large comfortable bed, very big for city hotel standards. Check in was fast and efficient, and portiers were very attentive. However, the loud interior decorating was definitely not to our taste and the in-room dining Caesar salad was not tasty. The breakfast selection was varied. Waiters were fast and attentive. The milkshakes, which we ordered after reading some reviews, lived up to the fame! All in all a comfortable city hotel.

The hotel is really lovely, it's clean and modern. The staff is what made it extra special for us. They were extremely friend and helpful. My only disappointment was when they invluded onions in my food when i specifically said i was allergic. And then when they took the food to fix it, they brought me a sald that didn't have onions but the cucumbers smelled of onions as if they used a knife they had previously used to cut onions.

Friendly & helpful staff 5* . Only chose this hotel as all others was full. Excessive Design, food and Architectural failures. Can not relax at night due to room design / color and constant psychological fear of your life in danger due to low light perception. Disappointed with the Motel 6 rooms with better beds and linen than Motel 6 / RoadLodge, overpriced. FAIL. Disappointed in what was expected as not up to standard shower in the room and proven worse than we thought. So much so that we booked a 2nd room as 1 person per room is disturbing with the wrong shower design and curtain. Prison grey color walls that is already super dark and need to switch 8 lights switches on in the strangest locations to achieve dusk type light value. Entering the hotel, they everyday forget to pay their electricity account so light intensity is so low your eyes takes a long time to adjust to this dark / low light conditions as if entering a cave or hell. Passages has extremely low light conditions and graffiti on the walls making you feel unsafe and as if in the wrong side of town where criminals live. Unpleasant ! Food in the GRAVEYARD area. Several issues with the food, breakfast had 2 half washed plates and 2 hairs on 1st breakfast and fermenting canned peaches. Dinner buffet had to inform the chef half way into the dinner service after 30 guest left that the beef meat was below dog food standard and shoe rubbery, etc.. 11pm great tasting LalaLamb when you order lamb burger ???
