First, I want to clarify Mahogany Bay and Mahogany Bay Curio are different. Mahogany Bay homes are individually owned, The Curio Collection is by Hilton. We booked the Hilton property. We didn’t find out this detail till we were there.
Our first trip to Belize. Check-in was pretty easy. Friendly helpful people.
Now for the unit, the AC in our room, and one setting, off or freight train blowing right at the bed and you’ll raise your voice to talk.
In the morning, we heard noises about 630. I opened up a window to find out. There is no window, plantation, shutters, and screen. You’ll definitely hear everything across the street and from your neighbors.
The room literally has nothing but a fridge in it. No corkscrew no coffee maker, not a pad or pen.
The TV will glitch, comes back in a bit.
They provide two bottles of water per day. You’ll have to go to the clubhouse every day to refill them.
That’s a challenge on its own, the bottles don’t fit underneath of the water disposal, so for the first few days will be a puddle of water in front of you until you figure it out.
The private beach, takes about 15 minutes to get to by boat. It runs every 30 minutes. There is no beach at the resort, there is a pool. Which ran out of towels on two occasions.
The private beach is nice, but pay attention to your bill, of the four days we went, three days it was incorrect.
I guess I just expect more from the Hilton property. The Staff does a great job based on the process’ Hilton has in place.

Service at the front desk and restaurant not as friendly as I remember it (from my trip last year). Pricing for food/beverages is all in USA $$ and expensive for the area (even more expensive than the Marriott down the road). But their island Beach Club is what makes the stay worthwhile. We spent 9 of 11 days going to the Beach Club and loved it.

I shared review with the property already. They will need to make several adjustments

This property was amazing . The staff were extremely nice , friendly and helpful. The food was 10/10! I would recommend this hotel for families, couples and solo travelers

The property is very nice….however we must have went during the construction process. The area the property is located in doesn’t match the quality of the property

Good and quiet resort, some good food options but they are somewhat expensive. Staff was very nice and helpful.

The location of the property is a little remote compared to the center of town. This is good in some ways and bad in others. Over all it is a nice property and the private beach is nice because the sand goes to the water , but the water is not very deep. Most beaces on the island have concrete retailing walls because there is no sand. This is because of the barrier reef blocking the waves from bringing in the sand.

The staff was nice and Friendly. The cabana in the water on the picture has a fee so don’t be surprised. They are still doing construction… after the construction I’m sure it’ll be beautiful around the area. We loved our little cottage.

We loved this property! We highly recommend it for a stress free vacation.

Not what I expected for the cost. The staff was very nice but limte

The hotel is pretty no doubt BUT the problem is that they catfish people with the reviews and descriptions. We were specifically looking for a hotel within a minute distance, meaning a hotel over the water. We paid this much specifically for that reason, there are a million hotels away cheaper.
They have a beach but they need to take you by boat (which they also charge you for $114 US). The beach is around 15 minutes away. They also advertise themselves as a "Adults Only" hotel and they are not.
I am not sure from whom these people are taking their marketing advice but deceiving people is not. It seems to me that they are buying their reviews.
There were lots of miscommunications like you need to put yourself on a list to be able to get it clean (huh?), you need to reserve the boat to be able to go to the beach, etc. Not worth the money.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Mahogany Bay Resort with its attentive staff in each of their roles & responsibilities. Beautifully appointed property with well maintained cottages and grounds made for a wonderful experience! We also enjoyed the private beach with bar / restaurant.

Nice property, still well under construction in many areas. Although this doesn’t much affect your actual stay it certainly alters the aesthetic of the property and the relaxation aspect when excavators are driving by at breakfast .
Lots of confusion with wait staff and room number allocation for billing’s. Asked multiple times everytime we ordered something what our room number was and no one seemed to think writing it down would be a good idea.
Nice property, nice idea, just missing the mark in the service department.
Also ensure you ask many questions about how to reserve a spot on the boat 24hrs BEFORE you want to go to the private beach as if you are not on the first or second boat you will not find chairs for the beach and have zero chance of securing a cabana for the day as those are first come first serve but there is VERY little explanation as to how to arrange all of that.
If you’re here for more than 3 days you absolutely need to rent a golf cart and the hotel can help arrange that and did a great job for us.
House keeping is by request so ensure you make that request as even when we did we had house keeping in our room at 5:30 pm while needing to get ready for dinner even though request was made at 8am , really nice place but the small things mentioned above are the things that make or break a 4 star hotel to a true true 4 star.
Good food in hotel restaurant, good cocktails. Not cheap to eat or drink on resort, lots of good options in Town close.

Wonderful property with spacious rooms and great service. The food on site was in US dollars and is much higher than if you drive into town on a golf cart. Overall I enjoyed the resort and highly recommend it.

The staff stole from us and even tried to enter our unit when we weren’t there.

Lovely resort and had a lovely time. Highlight was the private beach area. Nice and secluded.
Upstairs hotel guests were out of control loud for two nights in a row and kept us from getting a decent sleep. Housekeeping found us a quiet room far away from the noisy folks and we were able to sleep well our last night there. Nice resolution.
Kiddos really enjoyed fishing off of the dock!

The staff on site were very kind and helpful, but the property is understaffed and unable to handle the needs of their guests. The pool ran out of towels, the resturant frequently had to make subsitutions to meals, food and drinks took forever to arrive, the food shacks were closed more often than not. I could go on.
There is so much potential here, I really wanted to love my stay, but it just fell short. That said, I must restate, the staff from beginning to end were knowledgable, kind and as helpful as they could be.

Even though this place is OK, I’m giving it two stars because of the cost ($500/night), I had higher expectations.

The resort is not inexpensive to start with, but, everything is "nickel and dimed" for extras. Even the boat-ride from the main area to the beach was an extra expense (every time). The rain kept me from doing many of the available activities, but If the weather had been nice, the trips to the beach would have been a ridiculous add on and the "free" toys like kayak etc.
To avoid extra meal fees at the resort, I decided to get coffee and a pastry at the Brew cafe for $10.00 and purchased a large yogurt in town and did not partake in the $25 breakfast buffet daily. My cabin had a small fridge only. My yogurt was totally frozen by the 3rd day.
As far as noise goes....the roads are gravel and noisy. There was road travel by golf carts and the gravel was not quiet...even at night. Luckily the heat pump-air conditioner dinned the noise.
The area is not safely walkable. My sister fell two times on trip hazards. Look down as you walk!
If I had known more about the area, I would have stayed at another place, but my family group was staying here so for convenience I made this reservation.
On the bright side, I had good food at the Veranda and drinks at the bar.

Staff is rude and not properly trained. They are full of ammenities that are always out of stock. Gift shop was empty. Towel exchange often empty. Food was average to poor and stupid expensive.
Complete waste of money and will never return.

The stay was a very good stay. We enjoy the private beach, the food was really good and our cottage was nice.
The resort has a lot of construction happening. The resort has to figure out their mosquitoe issue. Being that it is not an all inclusive resort we found the food prices were high.
Belize is a beautiful country and I plan to return but it would be at another location.

Resort looks very nice. The staff is very kind and attentive. However we couldn't have a functioning toilet during our whole trip. From the moment we checked in the toilet wasn't flushing properly. Everyday we had to call maintenance but the problem isnt solved until the day we left. We had to use the public restrooms in a resort which isn't acceptable. The hotel is far from the city and the hotel doesn't provide free shuttle. You have to either rent a cart (parking isnt fun during dinner hours) or take a cab (each way is $10). The food isn't cheap at the resort but it is good. The hotel isn't a beachfront property. so you have to get on a boat (which is every hour) and go to the private island. Mosquitoes in the private island and at the hotel was super annoying knowing that some carry certain diseases.

Mahogany Bay was 10/10 on everything definitely didn’t disappoint! Customer service, rooms, comfort, food/drinks, safety, private beach was A1

I celebrated my 50th Birthday with my Sister in San Pedro, Belize at Mahogany Bay Resort in August. I would have given this Hotel 10 stars if I could. My experience was one I will never forget. Beth Clifford, Owner to M.B.R., and her staff were impeccable, very personable, and kind. When I first landed at the airport, Beth and her team sung happy birthday to me.It was such a special moment, and we were provided a private escort to the resort. They even sent a cake to my room to help me celebrate my birthday. MBR was absolutely beautiful. I stayed in the three bedroom cottage on the canal. They had everything at your finger tips that would make you want to stay there permanently. They had multiple restaurants with a poolside bar, coffee and ice cream shops, Resort Spa facility, and even had taxi services or golf cart rentals for travel into town which was only 10 minutes away. The food and drinks were absolutely delicious. My hat off to the chefs, bartenders, and staff at MBR. My sister and I had the most amazing experience. So to all my follow travelers, if you are going to San Pedro, Belize. This is by far the best place to stay if you want an exceptional and best in class experience. I will definitely go back.
To Beth and MBR Team, my sister and I love you all! Sincerely, Deidre ( A.K.A. Dee & A )

Mahogany is a city within a city. There is the coolest combo of travelers and residents. Secret Beach is like a dream. The food is incredible. It’s a super convenient location, not far from anything as long as you have a golf cart (which is critical as a traveler in San Pedro). We’ll definitely be returning to Mahogany, our little home away from home.

Our group had an amazing stay. All the staff at the resort were friendly and took good care of us. We enjoyed eating breakfast/lunch with Miguel in the morning, and we also loved sitting by the pool while snacking. We also loved all the activities, food and drinks the beach club had to offer. The resort had a lot to offer from golf cart rentals to excursions, a coffee shop and sushi restaurant! The cottage we stayed in was also very clean and made our stay feel like we were at home!

Highly recommend staying here! From the staff to the property inside and the outside, absolutely paradise! The staff makes you feel so welcome and are so kind here! Really are one of kind special people who care about their guests. We hope to visit again some day and would definitely stay here again!

We had a nice stay, early check in was available which was awesome but there was blood on one of the pillow cases in the room. We informed the front desk of this but they acted as if it was no big deal. We asked to change rooms but the staff did not accommodate. However, housekeeping did come to change/remove all the linens. A day later, we received a resort credit. The stay was nice after that. The cottage is nice, once cleaned properly. The private beach was a plus, very nice!

The one thing that I disliked were the mosquitoes this time. From what I was told, Sep-Oct are the rainy months and the mosquitoes were overwhelming. I recommend taking off and cortzone cream. Other than that, beautiful resort, fabulous island, tasty food and fabulous night life. One note: the parties start late. This was my second visit in 8 months and I will be back soon.

The property is beautiful and the staff is overwhelmingly nice, however there were a few key items lacking during our stay such as a full length mirror (e.g., going out in a bathing suit, might want to check to make sure nothings hanging out you don’t want), no doormat to wipe your feet off after walking through the sand, a lack of hooks for towels and wet items to dry, etc.
Service was very focused on the large parties and overlooked parties of 1-2 people consistently.

It was great! Love the set up of our own private entrance. I didn’t care for the dinner menu options but that’s my only complaint! I loved the property and will definitely stay here again.

This property is the one if you are looking for privacy. It is not too far from town as well. All the staff was very accommodating and hospitable. We can’t wait to return!

Very quiet and safe. Staff was very attentive. At the very south end of island and their private beach is beautiful. The water depth doesn’t go deeper than waste height at the beach and the water is so calm the there is the little see lice that are quite annoying but they are also at secret beach, they easily come off though. Only half of our stovetop burners worked and their was not a single towel rack or hook in the entire unit. Would stay there again because so beautiful.

The cottage was very nice and all of the food and drinks were excellent, but it’s the staff that was truly exceptional. Jessica at the coffee shop, Jason D. at the bar/pool, Dennis and Abner were particularly kind and welcoming.

This place is truly amazing. Private beach, great happy hour, clean and cold rooms, and the best staff. The bartenders make amazing drinks and the food is great. It’s a 10 min golf cart ride from any restaurant or excursion pick up spot in San Pedro. 10/10 recommend

I stayed at the Mahogany Bay Resort with a group of friends during my birthday trip to San Pedro. From the minute I checked in, I was really impressed with the the beautiful grounds, refreshing welcome drink and friendly staff.
I stayed at the resort for a week, and overall I would say that it was a great experience for my friends and I. My friends were kind enough to surprise my with a birthday brunch, which Mahogany Bay helped to coordinate by the pool. This was really really beautiful- and left me feeling very special.
Miguel was our server, and I honestly could have asked for someone more attentive, professional, witty and kind! He really helped to make the surprise brunch really special.
The resort is ideally situated for guests that are looking to be somewhere private and secluded; as well as for those that are looking to adventure throughout Ambergris Caye!! There are restaurants, a spa, a gift shop, a private beach, a coffee shop and so so much more - all on the grounds.
There were a few things that I think could be improved on - a few times we called the reception desk and it rang out. If this happened once or twice, maybe it could be excused for it being a busy time, but this happened at least 5 times with me, as well as my friends. So, it became our running joke 😊
Aside from this, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay - and I’m glad I chose to celebrate my birthday here!!
