The Sandcastle Beachfront Inn is not fancy but it is clean, safe, has great, friendly staff, and is ON the beach. If you want to be lulled to sleep each night by the beautiful sound of Block Island Sound just yards from your doorstep, I recommend staying at this wonderful place. The room I was in was a waterfront room, so that helps of course, but this hotel is right on the beach and small enough that even if you are not facing the water, you will hear it, feel it, smell it, love it! Yes, the room itself is basic. The bed is fine, linens are clean and soft (no comforter - just a thin blanket and sheets, so if you need a plush cover, bring your own), small standup shower only, closet, some drawers, TV with cable, AC/Heating unit you control, small refrigerator, and a shared deck space that is quite large. The deck furniture is very basic and plastic, but you do get a good sized table and several chairs just for your room and although there are no walls or barriers between each room's outdoor area, when I was there, everyone respected each other's space. There is no hair dryer, iron/ironing board, laundry service, dining, phone, toiletries (with the exception of very small bars of soap), or anything else beyond what was already mentioned above, but that is just not what this place is about. It's a kick back, enjoy the beach, walk around barefoot, basic hotel right on the water. The staff is wonderful and the atmosphere and energy of this place reflect that.

Actually was much better than expected, the rooms were super fresh and clean. The only thing I’d suggest would be four pillows not three on a queen bed. Staff was extremely helpful. Outside our room door was also clean and appealing. This place is on the sand nothing beats the night sound of waves

We stayed here for 1 night at over $300 a night, there was 1 blanket and 3 pillows provided, no shampoo/conditioner/body wash. The office closed at 9 pm and we were calling for hours because we had key issues. They never picked up the phone and did not call back the next morning. Its located right on the beach which is the only decent thing about this place.

No amenities with the exception of a small fridge, not even a blow dryer. No beach towels. I rated a 3 because the private beach is AWESOME! We will stay again just for the beach!

Our trip was AWFUL!!!!! The guests in the room next door were Partying, screaming and smoking weed, which wafted into our room, until 3 am!!! Complained the next day and got a new room which had a broken boxspring, smaller beds that didn’t fit our family and a really weird sweet smell, like they we’re trying to cover up something in the rug, probably the weed smell because it’s all over this motel. It just became too much and We finally gave in and left. What a waste of holiday time and money!!!!!

I enjoyed my stay here. There are no amenities and even though I booked last minute I was lucky to get a room. I do feel it was a little pricey. This is a good place to go if you're looking for just a place to rest your head!

Hotels.com presented a room on their website at this hotel that we did not receive when we arrived. We anticipated a room with a partial view of the Sound, on the beach, with a walk out to a community deck above ground. When we arrived, we were given a bare bones basement room with a view of sand dunes and a wood partition wall. When we voiced our displeasure with the room, the weekend office staff at the Sandcastle Inn were quick to alleviate some of our concerns by moving us across the street to their sister property that had been recently renovated, was very comfortable, and clean. However, it was not on the beach as Hotels.com had represented on their website. Our view was a parking lot and Atlantic Avenue, instead of the LI sound. This trip could have been a disaster, thanks to Hotels.com., but thanks to the quick action of the staff at Sandcastle Inn, our getaway weekend was saved. They accommodated us in every way that they could, making it as comfortable for us as possible. We would highly recommend the Sandcastle Inn, but beware of Hotels.com.

But most importantly they were so clean! We had a view of the ocean from our windows and while sitting on the deck. We loved the private beach! There was so much space for us to “set up camp”. The other guests were super friendly. We CANNOT wait to go back and will definitely stay there again. Excellent! Property was very clean! Location is on private portion of beach so you don’t have to worry about crowds or parking!

Stood there for 2 days. Very nice place but they had a pool as an amenity and that's a lie. And most upsetting part is that the top of the closet fell on my 4 year old. Ive left messages, spoken to staff that said a manager would call me next day- never herd from them at all. My daughter still has a headache from this falling on her. No follow up no cares is very upsetting.

Needs a major overhaul. Room - when we checked in light near sink was out. Sink was blocked. Shower looked old and dirty. Need chaulking around all seams. Sink are had a micro fidge on it. Made it difficult to shave or for my wife the put on make up

I liked the access to beach and walking distance to every thing. Did not like the parking and the policies were not enforced about guest and parking

Too expensive for this size, and not facing the ocean.
