Having stayed at over 70 hotels throughout the years, I can easily say this was the worst!
Pretty much everything in our room was broken/falling apart. The room is also very outdated. Nothing like the pictures.
Cleaning costs $50. And you have to get your own toilet paper.
The staff was constantly rude.
Also be aware that they won’t return the deposit. I paid 360 for a deposit, but haven’t received it back and I haven’t gotten a reason to why.
The walls are super thin so you hear exactly what your neighbor is doing, as well as the street noise.
Don’t pick this hotel unless you don’t care about your accommodations.

Nice studio apartment with loads of kitchen space. Check-in online was easy. Space was clean and comfortable. Just enough room for our family of 4. Paid parking is available just north of the hotel.

Loved this property and would stay here again in a heartbeat. It’s right near the subway. Easy walk to the ferry and the staff were amazing. Both myself and my husband both said it’s a lovely hidden gem that we were very lucky to have found. If you have kids, family or just a couple this is the place to stay. Plus the pizza just around the corner is to die for !!!!!

We stayed here for 2 weeks, and overall it was a really pleasant experience. The area is fantastic for those who want access to a ton of subway lines in close proximity to the hotel, as well as some quick food options that are just as close (Starbucks, chipotle, deli, etc). There were a few downsides which made the experience living here a little less convenient. On 3 separate occasions the code and virtual key to open our room door would not work and so we needed to go the the front desk to get someone to unlock our door. Not the end of the world, but pretty inconvenient when you live on the 14th floor. The other thing that was a little disappointing was the fact that a lot of the dishes were dirty at the time we checked in, as well as the fact that the lid for the puck detergent on the dishwasher was broken at the time of check in as well. The side for liquid soap still worked but it was disappointing that we couldn’t use the provided detergent pods. A lot of the complimentary cleaning supplies were also low at the time of check in. Other than that, I would recommend the Sonder for anyone looking for an affordable option in a great part of Manhattan for a long-term stay.

Hotel is really good and no resort fees which can be hard to find in New York! However the staff didn’t greet us once with a simple “good morning” or “hello” when entering or exiting the building they were just sat around talking to each other but it wasn’t personally a big deal for us. Also i think the security of the building could’ve been improved because anyone could walk straight into the lobby and right up the elevators and straight to your hotel door without needing a room key or passcode which I thought wasn’t very safe. And the staff at the front desk weren’t exactly looking to check who was coming in and out of the building either. Gym was also on the smaller side which wasn’t a massive deal but could’ve been improved because no more than 6 people could be in there at once. If you use the Sonder app the customer service live chat is amazing and really easy to use. Overall 8/10.

I had a memorable experience at this hotel. Never forget! There was a noisy guest next to my room who played music loudly until 2 AM. This actually helped me sleep well on the airplane on my way back home. Thanks. The hotel didn’t offer even standard amenities such as a toothbrush, ice, broadcast, slippers, and so on, even though they provided a nice full-size kitchen( which may not be necessary for traveler). Overall, this hotel reminded me that there’s no place like home and highlighted the importance of booking an expensive hotel for stress-free travel. I was able to learn a lot in this hotel.

Stayed at the King Studio on the 8th floor for 7 nights.
Check-in was unfortunately delayed past 4pm by 1.5 hours as housekeeping was late. However, Claudia at reception was kind enough to offer a 2-hour late check-out, which was appreciated. She was also one of the friendliest staff we met throughout our stay.
The room was very spacious and well equipped.
However, some parts of the room saw signs of ageing - scruffs and marks on the floor board and walls.
In the bathroom, the shower water pressure was weak, and drainage was very slow. The provided body wash/shampoo/conditioner were sketchy.
In the room, the air-conditioning was loud - though we didn’t have to use this much as it was winter.
In terms of facilities, there was a nice rooftop patio, and also lounges which were nicely furnished. The gym was small and key amenities (air-conditioning and water dispenser) were not functioning.
In terms of location, it was superb - the property is a close walk to South Ferry (for the Staten Island Ferry), Wall Street and Charging Bull. A stone’s throw to several subway lines (red, green, yellow).
On balance, a well-priced option for those considering staying outside of midtown Manhattan. Would stay again.

Staff at the front desk were awesome and friendly, the room was spacious and had everything we needed, the bed was huge and comfortable, it was a tad noisy due to the tunnel right outside but after a full on day exploring you were so knackered I didn't even notice it by the second night. Was in a great location close to world trade centre, there's a cute deli with friendly staff just around the corner, hotel location was close to 3 different subway lines which was great for when you were planning Ur days adventures. Some nice restaurants close by. My only criticism I have and this has got nothing to do with the hotel it's more to do with NYC itself. They have legalised weed over there and everywhere you go it stinks of it. I would 100% recommend this hotel and if I come back I'd probably choose to stay there again as I've got familiar with the area

We had an amazing stay at the Sonder Battery Park over the Christmas!
Pro’s:

*very friendly staff
*clean and newly renovated room
*we’ve had beautiful view overseeing New Jersey and Hudson River
*Sonder room has everything we needed: fridge, microwave/oveb, full kitchen, dishwasher, laundry machine and dryer
* fast wifi
* convenient Sonder app
*lots of place
* room temperature auto control
*great noise isolation (you can’t hear other rooms)
*clean and renovated shower and bathroom
*2 mins away from the subway and Wall St
*5-7 mins walk to whole foods
*beautiful walk area near the Hudson River with lots of cafes and restaurants
Cons:
* peeling floors (we suggest bringing house socks or sleepers)

Thank you Sonder for the wonderful stay, we definitely will be back to one of the properties in the future!

Everything was great. We paid 30$ for early check in at 2 pm. The room was ready and clean when we arrived. They did run out of some essentials over the Christmas holiday. ie- toilet paper and large trash bags for the in room trash can.

Traffic outside is very loud 24 hours a day. Your other locations are better

We loved this place! The location is good and some metro stations are close by foot, the staff is super kind and very helpful if you need anything, the unity was really clean, spacious and in very good condition. Definitely we will book here again!

Good facility and good people. But the construction noise outside while I was staying at night was horrible. Yes, it’s manhattan, New York City. One more problem. Too much dependent on email I should have received from them and which I hid not. I was unable to unlock my room door or my room TV. Technology must be trusted with some caution.

Desk working area did not have lamp or light. Bedroom area not enough light. Spacious room. Noise from street.
Referred to room no. 824

1. The Sonder corp. forced me into giving my biometrics. They refused to give me entry information unless I gave the information and they refused to refund me if I cancelled, even though it was a week before the reservation.
2. The property was supposed to sleep 4, but the pull out bed was not usable. We had to put the mattress on the floor and due to the thin mattress it was essentially like a camping mat. Not what we paid for!
3. Noise! The air blower was without exaggeration so loud we had to turn it off and be without heat. It sounded like a turbine. The location of the property is also by a major Tunnel entrance so there was the sound of people hitting a metal plate as they entered the tunnel…all night long! I’m from NY and I’m used to sound, but this was beyond anything I have ever experienced! The floor also vibrated all night long.
4. No USB connections, most outlets only had a single usable outlet.
5. Spare furnishings, no rugs, limited wall coverings. Cold, noisy and uncomfortable. Terrible for nearly 3k.
You may wonder if we sought help to remedy this. The “attendant” said, “there is nothing I can do”.
Sonder stole my biometric information and ruined an important family trip. DO NOT STAY HERE!

The unit was amazing, spacious and great view, loaded with most needed things to take care of basic needs. However, the reason I'm giving 3 of 5 stars rating is because the sofa bed had a very cheap/uncomfortable mattress that was almost useless, it was a body ache causing mattress. 2 out of 4 people had to sleep there and it was a sacrifice for them to sleep there. This was a 4" inner spring matress, and we would've never expect that such expensive room would have such an uncomfortable matress where memory foam sleeper sofa matress exists. Besides that, everything else was all good, but the bed is top priority, so this was not a satisfactory stay because of that.

Love the rooftop deck!

Air conditioning was noisy. Pool facilities were always full of families with small children, with limited seating anyway, but good view for Staten Island Ferry :-).
Good location for downtown.

A great choice for short or long-term stays. Very modern amenities. The washer and dryer, dishwasher and microwave worked well snd help to save so much money on food, etc. the location is also very convenient, next to the 1 train rector street station and an easy switch to the 2-3 express trains at chambers st. Also the rooftop and pool are gorgeous and fairly private. Things to improve on: there is no door key and the electronic code that they gave you doesn’t always work because it’s dependent on the signal. So sometimes, you have to enter it several times before you can open your door. There is a television in the room that is reliant upon whatever streaming services you have, so no automatic access for example, to local news local programming, even New York one, which would be helpful, the whole process is DIY, and the instructions are not always clear. Fortunately, they have reception staff, who were somewhat helpful, but seem overwhelmed. There was also a woman who was a security, I believe, who was not helpful at all. The pool and rooftop hrs are a bit limited. 9pm seems awfully early for New York time. At least open it until 11pm. There are lockers in the lobby where they told me I could store my bags of pawn, check out and did not need a reservation, but then, when the time came to do so, they were hardly any available. Also, There is no cleaning service during your stay, but they gave you enough supplies and easy ways to dispose of garbage and recycling responsibly.

Our studio felt like home. It was clean and updated and spacious and so nice to come back to after a day of exploring the city. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. I only wish the pool was open year round!

This was great, so much more space for the money than most New York Hotels and everything was clean and comfortable.

My room was clean and a good size with all the amenities I required. However, my room was very noisy and every night I had interrupted sleep from traffic noise and rooms next door. The windows and walls provided next to no noise insulation.

Amazing well kept only the issue all Ubers find difficulties to get in from of the building and we have to walk to the building because of the bridge.

I stayed at that property twice, back to back. My first week was great with no issues! The 2nd week which is specific to this booking was a complete disaster!
First, booked an apartment with a queen size bed but was checked in in a one with a European queen AKA a Full Size bed!! I was very annoyed. The management did nothing except trying to convince me the bed was a queen size!! For the record, the bed in 1019 is not a queen size. It’s a full size bed. Stop fooling your guests!!
There were a couple of other issues with the apartment. It had poor lighting so I requested an extra lamp. At the time of my request, the front desk attendant was high as a kite!! Her words were slurred and she smelled like pot!! I actually was surprised that she ended up sending someone with the lamp because she was so high!! The gentleman who brought the lamp was rude. In addition, the ventilation in the place didn’t work. Extremely disappointed!!
