The location is within walking distance to the train station and about 10-15 minute walk to the main shopping and shrine venues. Beautiful quaint town with great morning markets!

Brand new hotel with chic design. Spacious room. Spotless clean and good water pressure. Good location with pay parking (Yen 1500 per 24 hours). Comfortable stay. Highly recommended.

The hotel, staff, and facilities were excellent. We didn't have breakfast or any other meals so cannot comment on that. The location is very convenient for the old town and for local dining options. Although we didn't use it, the station is close by too.

Had a lovely short stay here, it is very close to the train station which is handy. Very modern well presented hotel, staff were helpful. Room was really nice and fairly spacious by Japan standards. Theres an onsen, and a private onsen which we tried, the facilities were really nice, and clean. We also tried the room service dining which was pretty good. They have a luggage storage room with lockers which is great as we arrived a few hours before checkin. Overall a great stay!

Nice and clean hotel. Good size of room. I booked the room with the sofa. Breakfast nice portion but quality need to be improved. Very tasteless and not like normal Japanese breakfast I normally had in other hotels. Lack of choices of hot beverages.

Great hotel and very nice staff.

This is the equivalent of a low three star hotel and extremely overpriced for what it is. It is also totally charmless. The write-up in the HOTELS.COM website is inaccurate. It shows this to be one of the top hotels in Takayama, which it is not

This is right next to the train and bus stations for easy transit. Hotel is clean and the Old Town is a short walk away. Breakfast is available but only comes in 2 set menus, Japanese and Western, and you need to reserve your time due to the format. For stays longer than 2 days I would not pre-pay for breakfast. Similarly, reservations are needed for lunch and supper. For a hotel restaurant, especially for lunch, this is not the most convenient. There are plenty of dining options a short walk away though. Overall, fairly good hotel, but in future visits to the town I would probably consider other options.

This is the first hotel I stayed at that had TVs I can cast my shows to and that alone is enough to warrant a good rating. The room was clean, cosy and you can adjust the temperature of the room to a desired level (whether you want it heated or cooling). The design of the room was also very well thought out. A small space was carved out next to the door to allow you to store your shoes and jacket. You can continue watching tv from the bathroom even if you are showering. There are also charging outlets on both sides of the bed. If you arrive too early for check-in at 3pm, you can store your luggage for free in their cloak room. Washing machines are also available for a fee, depending on the weight of your laundry. Public baths are also accessible via room cards, but for female guests, they are given a passcode. You can also reserve a private bath for yourself at the reception. We made a last minute decision to eat breakfast in their dining area, which turned out to be a great decision because the food was delicious! Exploring wise, the way to the shopping district etc is just a short walk away plus the hotel is located 5 minutes away from the Nohi bus station and Takayama train station so it's super convenient. The hotel also provides valuable tips on where you can explore with a board full of information cards. All in all, it's an excellent hotel I'd return to again if I ever visit Takayama.

5 star service

A fantastic hotel and stay in Takayama. Hotel is very modern and clean, but with traditional Japanese Onsen. Room (superior king) was very spacious and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and attentive, nothing was too much effort for them. Location is ideal for arriving from the train (3mins walk), and perfect for day tripping as bus station is next door too. 10-15 min walk to the old town, through very pleasant streets. We ate an evening meal at the hotel too which was lovely and reasonably priced.

Staying here was wonderful. Staff are extremely helpful in every way; place is clean; Public Bath is tidy. Lots of parking outside - we will definitely come back next time we're in Takayama!!

Hotel Around Tokayama is absolutly the best hotel we have ever been ( we have been in 6 different hotels in our travels in Japan, from lodges, to 2, 3 and currently a 5 star hotel in Kyoto, as well as other hotels around the world) The Hotel Around has everything a person might need and more. Excelent attention to details, from the toiletries, the room's style and forniture, the bathroom, the reception area, the restaurant and the breakfast choices and presentation. I cannot praise it and the efficent reception staff enough. We loved the modern style but also the cosy and relax feeling of the hotel. The reception and restaurant staff were kind, polite and an absolute joy. We loved the laundromat on the ground floor, everything was just perfect, 10 stars

Great location, hotel and loved the onsen baths.

I stayed in Hotel Around Takayama for two nights. And I was really satisfied with my stay here. The hotel was very modern and convenient in various ways. I liked the hotel provides water by water purifier instead of giving water bottles. And also I enjoyed the private bath at the 2nd floor. Like these small details, the location and the comfort of the bed was excellent as well. Loved the stay and if I get to travel Takayama again, I will choose this hotel for sure!

High tech supplies with nice view room. Really comfort for the good services no matter the staffs, bath service, car parking & restaurant. Grateful for the help of sewing equipment. Highly recommended worth to come again.
