Enjoyed the rooftop hot water foot spa and daily complimentary drink after walking miles each day.
Hotel is perfectly located for downtown Kyoto just across the river from Gion.
Rail stations within a few minutes walk.
Great staff.

A truly beautiful hotel. The staff was excellent and had many English speakers, which helped me greatly. The onsens were always in great shape. The hot foot bath on the rooftop was a lifesaver at the end of each day exploring Kyoto.
The room rate was very reasonable, about $125 USD/night. For a comparable hotel in my area of the US, you'd be looking at $300+/night.

The onsen was amazing especially the one with views over Kyoto.
The bedroom was a bit cramped with one side of the bed being against the wall - not ideal for the person sleeping on that side.
Do be aware of the need to book restaurants for supper - the first night we had to resort to a Family mart!

Love the rooftop, hot foot bath and the views . The open air onsen was excellent. Hassles free check in and check out, staff were very friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is close to Kyoto-Kawaramachi subway (not covered by JR pass) station, Gion district , Nishiki Market, Kiyomizu temple and the upmarket shopping. We will definitely come back again….

Could not have asked for a better place to stay! Perfect location, amazing rooms, comfortable beds, wonderful staff, and incredible amenities. The rooftop bar with foot bath and the onsens are absolutely what you need to recharge at the end of the day. This will be the only place I stay in Kyoto from now on. Thanks again to all of the staff!!

Great location but very little amenities on property Same breakfast bento 4 days in a row

The most comfortable bed on our trip to japan, good pillows and bedding. small room but we were barely in there. You can walk to all the local temples and good restaurants and close to multiple train lines which comes in handle getting around Kyoto. At the end of the night the foot bath on the rooftop terrace is very nice, would stay again!!

Fantastic hotel. 5 minute walk to Gion close to shops and restaurants. Very helpful and friendly staff. Yaukata included to use freely round the hotel. Fantastic roof top bar with great views and brilliant onsen.

We loved staying at this hotel. It was at a super convenient location right next to Nishiki market and Gion with lots of great restaurant and bars. It's also close to 2 metro stops connecting you to different lines. I loved walking the bridge at night and taking in the lovely view of Kyoto. The upstairs terrace has a great view of the city as well as beautiful sunrise views. I loved using the onsen after a long day of walking, not to mention the free coffee and drinks amenities. The rooms are small but that's the same for everywhere in Japan. We would definitely stay here again if given the chance!

Friendly staff, great location, clean property, great amenities. This hotel is new and the rooms feel clean. While small by western standards, rooms are laid out to maximize space and are very comfortable. The rooftop terrace and free coffee/snack station are nice extra amenities. The onsen is a great way to relax before or after a day of sightseeing. In the heart of great restaurants and bars, adjacent to multiple transit options. I can’t recommend this place enough.

Service and staff were great. It was a little confusing to get to from the train station but overall lovely experience. Would book again.

The roof top was amazing.
At the end of busy day, we always came up to the roof to rest our feet. It was a perfect ending to the lovely day. Also the location is perfect as well.

Wonderful hotel fully deserving its 5 star rating. Property is beautiful and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The amenities were on a different level - foot bath, happy hour, free ice cream, and onsen. The rooms are also beautiful and comfortable. It’s a short walk from Pontocho street, the Gion area, Nishiki Market, and the main shopping strip.

The roof top is great. Though, they do require that you buy a drink if it is during the bar hours. The coffee machine and ice cream in the lobby was nice. Great value.

Amazing location. Great value. Very clean. Small rooms but not a concern for the price and location. Beautiful views and nice Onsen baths.

We loved the hotel and staff. Location was exactly what we wanted. Walking distance to everything.

Very nice and perfectly located hotel. It is right in the heart of Kyoto. There are many shops, dinning options, bars, pachinko and so much more to do in the surrounding area. It is also a short walk from Gion. We did not try the public bath. But the rooftop terrace was breathtaking and a great place to start your morning. Would definitely stay here again when visiting Kyoto.

Great place to stay with easy transport links, onsen, and a bar with foot baths on the roof terrace!

Great hotel. Perfect location close to everything. A lot of extras like the Onsen, the terrace and coffee machine at the lobby. They provide coin-operated washing machine which is super useful (700 yen for 1 load and 1hr drying). If I return to Kyoto, it will be to this one for sure.

Loved it! Very well designed hotel. Close to everything. We changed up our itinerary to stay another night. Rooms are tiny but cute and clean. Roof top terrace was a great place to relax after walking around Kyoto all day.

Great location! Close to lots of shopping and dining options. Like the terrace - a very nice view of old city part of Kyoto and Yachuan river. Excellent service - everyone is so friendly and always trying to help! Room is very clean with everything you need. Room is not that big but it’s the center of Kyoto so. I left some clothes in the room after checking out. It’s there at front desk waiting for me after I gave them a call. Strongly recommend!

Excellent location in Kyoto, the hotel has rooftop bar with amazing city view, high end hot springs on site and many other small services that will make your stay convenient. This is your hotel in Kyoto, I'll be back again for sure

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for three nights after visiting Arima Onsen. The hotel's location is close to two main subway links in Kyoto, which made it easy for us to travel around the city. There are many shopping malls and luxury brands nearby, which made us spend a lot of money in Japan. The service at this hotel is excellent, with every staff member welcoming us with a smile from the moment we arrived until our departure. The rooftop bars provide an excellent view of the city, and the hotel provides free drinks between 4pm and 6:30pm. The room was a bit small, but it was clean and decent. The staff at the front desk also provided recommendations for dinner and a location map to us. Reservations are required for most of the famous restaurants, and the front desk was always willing to help us with that.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the hotel. I would recommend that the hotel increase the free drink hours to avoid crowded situations in the afternoon.

Very clean, nice view and quiet. All staff were very friendly and excellent customer service. Highly recommend and will definitely come back.

Not great, but not bad. Things that are good, the rooftop Terrance in the early morning having a free coffee. Great location to shops and nightlife. Bad points, our first room was very dusty with small flies, we were moved to a cleaner room after point this out. This is a traditional Japanese style hotel with lots of rules, for instance eating wasn't allowed on the terrace but depending on the staff this could be overlooked for some. Overall, it is a comfortable room and a good place to rest.

Love love everything about this property. The view from the terrace is amazing. I do recommend the hotel put in some curtains. Since the window in the room are Japanese traditional style, light goes through easily so the room a little brighter than I’m use to for sleeping

This hotel has lots of wonderful amenities. The footbath on the rooftop, 1 free drink coupon at the rooftop bar for each evening, complimentary fountain soft drinks, hot beverages (the hot cocoa is great!) and popsicles in the reception area, complimentary bottles of water each day in the room along with traditional japanese wear and sandals that you can use (not take). We had the superior double room. It was a decent size, still a bit cramped but that's the usual. It was comfortable, extremely clean and had a "shower toilet." The only minus was that there wasnt much of a view from the room but thia was the case in the other 2 hotels we stayed in as well. Maybe because it's booked through a discount site (?). The staff were helpful and friendly. Some had limited English speaking skills but we still managed. We did have to pay extra taxes (bath and city) upon check in ( 2700 yen total for 5 nights). They held our suitcases for us since we arrived an hr prior to check in time; Then, made sure the suitcases were already in our room when we actually checked in. We did not purchase breakfast since there were restaurants around that were cheaper. Location is great. We were able to use the train and also uber for shorter distances.

Hotel was a excellent and beautiful hotel very modern but warm and comfortable. Staff was very helpful and accommodating. A 10 and 5 star star experience. The only thing my wife and I didn’t really appreciate and the hotel could improve is the public spa/bath in how they need to inform and have signs of etiquette of do’s and font’s in public bath/spa for the guests.( showering before entering, no swimsuits, no beverages in spa/bath). As Frequent visitors to Japan we had to learn this to respect the locals and Japanese culture. Other than that we loved our stay at the hotel. The location was convenient also! And the roof top bar!

Amazing stay. Now one of my favorite hotels in Kyoto. Staff was attentive and friendly, amenities were amazing from the open air onsen to the rooftop terrace, rooms were comfortable, clean and spacious. And it was easy to access transportation or walk to major areas. Just wow. Will definitely be making it a point to stay again if I'm able.

Fantastic onsen-hotel in Kyoto. Great rooms, amenities and facilities. Pricey but totally worth the money. Only negative is the poor English of the staff (at least those we interacted with).
