Traditional trattorias serve the famous Venetian dish of sarde in saor; deep-fried sardines marinated in onions and vinegar, along with dishes made with other local ingredients. Historic highlights in Asolo include the hilltop fortress of Rocca, Palazzo Pretorio and Villa di Maser. The latter is not just a beautiful villa, but also a long-established winery. Other nearby towns and cities to visit to soak up history and culture are Treviso, Vicenza and Padova.
