Beautiful property. Disappointed with the beach. Staff less than friendly especially for a resort, food could be more diversified.

The grounds were beautiful but check-in was horrendous. Lines were very long. We were given keys that didn’t work 3 times and once we finally got into a room it had a full-sized bed that was hard as a board despite reserving a king room. It took another 45min to get the correct room, however once we did it was very nice & comfortable. The food & drink was just ok. The blandness, buffets & snack foods probably work well for kids. We realized we are not “all-inclusive” people. Would not stay again.

We've stayed at a good handful of all-inclusives over the years, and always felt lucky that we managed to avoid the scammy, cheesy resorts that we'd always hear about. Unfortunately, it finally happened to us here at La Fiesta. Among the bummers of having spent so much money and 2 out of the precious 6 nights of our Costa Rica ravaction here were:
1) The room. We had a "Fiesta 1 King Bed" and arrived to find all the drawers askew (not like someone had gone through them, more like the floor is uneven and they can't stay closed), the fridge nearly toppling over (same reason), a non-working phone (I contacted the front desk via Whatsapp to ask if it was actually supposed to be plugged in and working and they said they'd have maintenance come fix it; never happened), a glass with a huge crack in it, and zero towels in the room at all.
2) The food. They don't tell you this when you book the room, and shockingly they don't even tell you this when you check in, but in order to eat at any of the restaurants besides the buffet, you need to make a reservation over 24 hours in advance. So even by the time we checked in on Thursday, reservations for that night were already booked, and we were only able to eat in one of the restaurants for ONE out of the 5 meals we were there for. That meant a LOT of meals spent at the exact same buffet, which was truly a bummer. (Not enough room here for the rest, so see Google for my full review.)

We were placed in an outdated first floor room by the laundry area. The room was outdated and not very clean. We had no towels in our room and the phone were not working so I had to hunt down a staff. The drinks were terrible as well as the food.

I have stayed here before and will definitely come again. Everything was good. Only issue was with the patio door in the room. It was extremely hard to open and close.

We overall had an ok time during our 3 night stay. We got a jr honeymoon suite. There were no bath towels when we got to our room and we had to wait for them to be delivered. Some friends we stayed with didnt have blankets on their bed after check in and they also had to wait for them to be delievered. Our room was a nice size but it smelled like mildew and there was visible mold on the shower curtain and bathroom mirror. The dining options were good, the gift store was great! It is a little difficult to communicate with staff if your spanish isnt good. Review would be better if the room was ready upon check in and generally cleaner.

The hotel was ok, multiple things were advertised and not available. The website states they offer shuttle service to/from San Jose airport for a fee, they do not. The dining options state 3 restaurants and a buffet, only 2 were available the week I was there and limited reservations. The menus at the restaurants were the same every day and while there a week got very old. While I know going to a Spanish speaking country to expect communication challenges, at the resort it should not have been so difficult. All the activities were in Spanish including pool activities when offered , water aerobics and shows. One bar for the evenings opened but you could only get a drink if in a seat because drinks were served in glasses, if none available you had to walk across the resort to the pool bar. The rooms were in need of repairs, ceiling fan didn’t work, outlets didn’t work, temperature would not go below 24 degrees Celsius, to name a few.
The staff at Macondo was excellent and the food great. Pool bar staff was fabulous and anticipated your drink and recognized you.

The entertainment at the theater was phenomenal. Overall the resort is good, the room needs to be updated. Pleasant and relaxing stay!

Hotel rooms are dated and property needs updating. Lines to check in are too long. There are no to answer the phone for front desk or bellman. Good place for families and kids with no expectations of good service. No power outlets for charging phones. Shower was in side the jacuzzi tub and poor design.

Food was good. The room was terrible. The air conditioning wouldn’t get to a comfortable level and the fan blades were constantly banging on something. For a junior suite, this was the worst I’ve ever been in.

Pros: The staff is kind and friendly. The gardens are in good shape, not too wild but simple and comfortable. The SPA has an infrared sauna. There are many pools for all tastes. The hotel is safe unless you venture on the beach outside of the hotel's front area, which is protected by guards.
Cons: Parking is limited. This is a crowded hotel, especially on weekends. Even though there are a lot of activities for guests (which might be a good thing for families and some guests) for me, it was pretty loud all the time, this is the style of the hotel. You might be having breakfast and the pool next to the restaurant might have an event with loud music. If you like that. There are tons of foods on the buffet, but for persons like me, with a restricted diet, there aren't that many choices.

It is a nice place to stay. A lot of options to choose.
We only had one issue. We got octopus as an appatizer and it was to hard that we couldn't even cut it. Other than that a great experience.

Not for an adults getaway. Good for families who have kids that need to run around and enjoy day activities, but the rooms look old and the bathroom tub and sinks have old caulking.

Although our check-in was not very pleasant due to the long wait and delays. Staff and service was amazing! They always greet you with a smile and are very kind. Highly recommend this place for their service, food, drinks, and social environment, entertainment, and beautiful sunsets.

This resort is for the locals. The staff did speak English but all the entertainment was in Spanish only. We stayed at the premium resort which was nicer but still not up to my standards. The food was decent, I really liked that they had a sit down restaurant option for breakfast and lunch (premium only) because I am not a huge fan of the buffets. This resort did have the best cappuccinos, really enjoyed those. The beach is not utilized as the sand is more like mud and the color of the water is brown. So you have to be a pool person here. Overall, not a bad resort but more recommended for locals or at least for people that speak Spanish.

I have stay here many times over the years and the prices is good the three restaurants are very good

This was the worst resort we have ever stayed at. Our ceiling had mold. The buffet, which you are forced to eat at every breakfast, lunch and dinner (except 3 times we got to go to a different restaurant). On a 7 night stay we were allowed 3 times to eat at one of their advertised restaurants. All pool activities and night time entertainment is in Spanish, which we don't speak. This is not a good resort for anyone but locals. We would not recommend this resort. Only the spa was a saving grace.

This is an old resort. The room was old and smelly, the furniture was from the 50s (wouldn't not seat on that couch). Food was very limited and not the best quality. We stayed one night and we couldn't wait to get out of that place. Wouldn't recommend to anybody!

Not in a touristy area. Nothing to do near hotel. Mostly locals go

We booked 4 rooms. One of the rooms was occupied when the door was opened to a naked couple on the bed. The man came to the door very upset. Which I understand. We had no hot water for the entire week of our stay. Had to give a baby cold showers due to this inconvenience. Also, the cleaning person used our iPad that was on the bed. The issues were reported and nothing was done about it. I left and it was “under investigation”. Buffet was not impressive. Basically the same thing every day. We saw the same show twice within a week.

Upon arrival we voiced mold, dirty filters, lack of urgency to tend to guest needs, unprofessional housekeeping

Broken beds, had to change rooms @ 11:00 pm
Drunk people laying down and vomiting in the hallway’s ,witch stop you from going to your room. Staff is very friendly but after everything that happened they did not said anything at the end, food is average. This was my second time in the hotel and nothing really changed . I don’t think I will go back.
