Avoid this hotel! I wasn't going to leave a review about the terrible noise of drunks outside and throughout the hotel to all hours of the night (got no sleep at all). But today i have no choice to leave a review to warn others as the owner of this hotel has verbally attacked and belittled me infront of 3 small children. He banged on our door after we came up from swimming and proceeded to shout in my face about spray foam soap that the girls left in the shower. They take this soap swimming all the time as they wash themselves with it and have lots of fun at the same time (it literally washes away- its soap). I tried to explain to him that it was just soap and it washes away but he started to shout at and insult me infront of the kids saying "i need to discipline them and that i was a disgrace". I've never felt so annoyed and upset after a hotel stay- we were there for my daughters 9th birthday, the owner knew this as he was sitting behind our table last night when we did the cake in the restaurant. It was a big treat for my daughter and neices to stay at Mount Errigal but they were left so upset and scared by how the owner shouted at me infront of them, they were that nervous leaving our room to check out they wanted to run out to the car incase they saw him again. I did see him again and started to tell him how unprofessional and inappropriate his approach was to which he replied "don't you try to take the moral high ground". No wonder the place has so many bad reviews.

Staff were friendly and doing their best. Bar staff were all very young and inexperienced. Waiting a long time for drinks and there was nobody to take the glasses off the tables

Spent an enjoyable weekend at Mount Errigal. The Hotel and leisure facilities were good.

Attened a wedding here last week food was 5 star, rooms are a bit dated but the small amount of bar staff for a 200 wedding and normal restraunt on the night was shocking, at most 4 people were bar and sometimes 2 for the majority of the night. Experience in the staff seemed very young and untrained to deal with numbers.

Loads of young inexperienced staff just floating round the hotel. All very polite and mannerly but not really doing much. No sign of senior staff or managerial staff at all so its not surprising there wasn't much work being done. Bar food sounded delicious on menu but was disappointing in reality. Decor is very dated. Mahogany everywhere. On the up side the bed was comfy and the curtains in my room were nice. The breakfast was also ok. I will be returning to Letterkenny in Dec but won't be staying here again.

Very friendly staff. Very quiet.
Pretty dated facilities, poor lighting levels in rooms - struggled to see where things were in the wardrobe. Overall we were pleased but needs a face-lift to be 4 star as they rate it.

Overall our experience there was very good, the service was friendly and efficient, the staff were all very young (literally just left school!)but, we were very impressed with their enthusiasm, energy and friendliness. Nothing was too much trouble for them.
The food was of a very high standard,. I’m loathe to say but the only thing that marked them down on the food was the battered cod,. My husband ordered this with high expectations ( especially as the hotel is situated right on the Atlantic coast, which obviously is renowned for its cod), so he was very disappointed when it arrived and it was a very poor size of a portion for what you would expect of cod,. It was very thin and the batter was that hard that his fish nearly flew off the plate when he cut into it !
The hotel was clean and tidy, what you would expect.
The only other point that marked it down was the bed. This was a biggy for us unfortunately. The bed was hard and uncomfortable, so much so that neither of us got much sleep. At all! We were both tired during the day from lack of 😴 ,. But , have to say we thoroughly enjoyed the whole spa experience and made good use of these facilities, just chilling and relaxing.
Sorry for the negative feedback at the end but just trying to leave an honest review.

Breakfast was disappointing. It was advertised as starting at 8am and we where down at 8 and I think there may have been a coach tour in possibly earlier and food was well picked over. It was also not very warm. We had to ask for coffee and then look for milk and also spoons which was disappointing and felt it was not worth 32 euro .

Friendly and helpful staff greeted us. Our room clean and comfortable. As the weather was wet we made use of the leisure facilities and we're impressed by the size of the kids pool. Breakfast was self service with a wide selection of hot and cold options.

It’s a really nice hotel, the facilities were great. Breakfast was ok, but I confess I was a bit disappointed that they served instant coffee.

On approach to the hotel they have a lovely mat on the outside stating they are a four star hotel!!!! This is definitely not true, infact I wouldn’t even say they were a 3 star. The place is so old, carpets old seating in the main lobby old and frayed. Stood for 5 minutes waiting to be checked in while the girl took a phone call she then called us over to start our checkin process and the phone rang again, instead of leaving it as she has customers in front of her she answered it and persisted to book someone else in over the phone!! On route to the room there was a horrible smell of cannibas this smell stayed the whole time we were there despite alerting staff about it. We got to the room and it was miserable, carpets filthy, really old mahogany wood, the bathroom wasn’t the best either, stained mirror, shaving connections on the wall completely rusty the same with all brass switches in the room. There was a draft coming from the windows in the room and the noise of the traffic from outside was horrific. All in all a very unpleasant stay, I was glad to only be booked in for 1 night as if I was booked for more I would have seeked alternative accommodation. Upon checkout I was asked how my stay was I explained all of what I had found and was told I would be contacted by the reservations manager that day….. I’m still waiting to hear. Guys save your money and stay somewhere else, this place isn’t worth a visit at all.

Great welcome from reception staff. Well situated hotel. Large room with tea/coffee facilities, clean and spacious, bath/shower facilities. We did not have breakfast at the property but ate very nice meal at the bar in the evening. All staff were pleasant and helpful. Only problem we had was heating in our room, radiator not working - the one in bathroom was. Mentioned it to reception staff, an electric radiator was put in our room, it was bit small for size of the room, it was cold night. Any other radiator we passed in the hotel corridors was working. Apart from that, we enjoyed our stay at Mount Errigal Hotel.

We booked an overnight stay as we were attending a family wedding at the hotel. Check in was fast & efficient and our room was ready and waiting for us. The room was large and spotless. The food at the wedding was excellent, every course and lots of it - as was the breakfast next morning. The staff (in all capacities) from check in to check out were lovely, polite, helpful & efficient. All in all, we had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend to others

The hotel in general is always a great place to stay and I love coming here for there leisure facilities. Unfortunately our room was very cold with the heating even on they knocked it off altogether at about 2am, our heating in the bathroom wouldn’t work at all I was very disappointed.

I rarely leave negative reviews even when stays are “disappointing”, but I really regret choosing this place.
The service was slow (was told no need to order at bar, only to try and catch a waiters attention for 15 minutes - at which point I gave up and went up). Orange juice turned out to be squash. Food was overcooked to a crisp and tasted like it had been doused in Terpentine. (But was there a waiter to complain to?) Breakfast options were poor, not matching the description (no sign of cheese or cold cuts), very limited if you’re vegetarian and non existent if vegan (to get it to your room would be an extra tenner; given you can’t go up for seconds that seems a particularly bad deal. But then why would you want to…).
Everything in the room is chipped and worn (and in the bathroom rusty). Working out the right combination of light switches on different walls overriding each other is like solving a rubik’s cube.
The doors do not block out noise and neither the other patrons nor the cleaning crew in the morning are the considerate sort.
At least it seemed clean, had an iron and the room had two double beds… plenty of pillows, too, even if they did feel like they’d been inflated.
If you get this for a bargain price and don’t have any plans using it except to kip, sure. But for £130 at a discount it is pretty outrageous, and the framed newspaper article at reception about the opening of it as a luxury hotel seems laughable.

Hotel lovely, a bit dated. No lifts to floors, Breakfast til 10.30…arrived at 10.20 to be told by waitress we couldn’t go in and to look for refund at reception. When we stated it wasn’t 10.30 yet, we were told to go in, and eat Quickly as they had to tidy up. Waiting staff were queueing in front of us taking the hot good for their break time. The whole breakfast experience put a sour taste in our mouths.
