Spend a quintessential summer in Maine at this darling lakefront cottage on the shores of McGrath Pond. Once featured on Magnolia Network's "Maine Cabin Masters," this home has been lovingly restored as a family gathering space. This picturesque abode sits near the northeastern corner of McGrath Pond, a spring-fed body of water that flows into Salmon Lake and the five other interconnected Belgrade Lakes. It's a beautiful setting for swimming and kayaking, taking afternoon naps in the hammock, and roasting marshmallows around the firepit at the water's edge. Two kayaks and two paddleboards are provided, so feel free to have adventures on the water. Oakland is two miles east while bustling Waterville and renowned Colby College are about four miles beyond. Enter through a beautiful side deck, where you can barbecue in the afternoons, dine alfresco at sunset, and relax in the evenings while listening to the call of the loons. Inside, the cottage was renovated in a way that kept its charms intact, offering lofty ceilings, exposed crossbeams, and natural wood at every turn. Central heat and air-conditioning ensure comfort all year long. The living space is lined with windows, allowing you to admire the view of the lake whether you're cooking in the open kitchen, chopping vegetables on the island, or kicking back on the sofas to play cards or stream movies. Two inviting bedrooms, a sleeping loft, and complimentary WiFi, are also provided. SHARED AMENITIES -Gas grill THINGS TO KNOW Streaming services are available with guests' own account(s). I booked this cabin as the highlight of my parents’ 50th anniversary road trip, I hoped 2 nights / 1 full day of the lakefront serenity would suffice. It was clear upon arrival the cabin was in no shape for guests but, being tourist season, other accommodations were not available. The very steep driveway had caution tape across the top. A neighbor made sure my parents knew to stay off the driveway as it was part way through being replaced. The hill is treacherous for anyone with luggage, for a couple in their 70s it is dangerous. Half of the property’s lake frontage had caution tape across it and was undergoing major landscaping work. The first morning a work crew arrived for a half day of loud stump grinding. Workers encouraged my parents to leave the property for a few hours, so they did. Upon checking out of the cabin my mom found a binder with rental info under the kitchen island, one page said “Caution: tap water not for drinking.” My dad had used the tap water for coffee, diarrhea lasted a week. I was provided no indication of the property’s multiple large projects nor that a crew and heavy machinery would disrupt my parents special day. And there are no notes next to taps or in the listing itself alerting guests to the water being unsafe. I messaged this info within the VRBO app, I followed up via phone with Vacasa two weeks later, they offered a 10% refund. A lot of money down the drain and a sad 50th anniversary. A shame Vacasa gets away with such theft.

We were planning on camping for vacation but it was supposed to pour the whole time. So we found this beautiful cabin right on the water at the last minute. The only negative was the steep driveway but as long as you have AWD you will be fine. It was beautiful, clean and the kitchen was well stocked with cookware. The loft had a wonderful sturdy ladder and railing that made climbing in and out of it a breeze even for full grown adults. The wifi and small tv were perfect for watching movies on the rainy days. The big bed's mattress in the main bedroom was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept on in a rental. There isn't alot of privacy, you can pretty much hear everything from any corner of the cabin, but it is a classic Maine cabin getaway that doesn't disappoint. Plus the pouring rain on the metal roof was the best sound to fall asleep to. I was actaully sad when I woke up and the rain had stopped. The island in the kitchen is so big and beautiful, cooking meals was a breeze. I highly reccomend this cabin. We had a fantastic time!

We had the nicest little getaway at this gem. The smell of pine when you walk in is wonderful! It was so clean and well decorated. It had everything we needed. Hopefully we can rent it again next year!
