If you’re looking for an all inclusive and would like to stay on the property, lounge in the pool, and on the beach. This is a great property to book. However, if you want to explore the local town, do activities, and leave the property, there are much better options. The aesthetic of the hotel is beautiful and we loved how friendly everyone was, but the cleanliness (dirty towels, floors, and sheets) left something to be desired. Food options were just “ok” if you’re looking for authentic Costa Rican cuisine, you won’t find that here. My partner unfortunately found hair in her chicken tenders and I experienced an upset stomach. All in all - $2000 USD for 4 nights isn’t cheap and we’d wish we had spent the money elsewhere.

This hotel met all the needs for a beachfront hotel that you really don't have to think very hard about staying for days on end. The hotel rooms are very nice and the proximity to the beach gave easy opportunities to watch sunsets. The restaurants provide a variety of foods and the drinks were quite delicious. Service was exemplary and response to every need was routine.

This kind of summarizes our experience at Azura Beach Resort: we went to get pool towels at the front desk on our third day, when we wanted to just go relax at the pool, and they said they only had one left. . . . . that the dryer needed 30 more minutes. It was 9:00 am. We checked back about 3 hours later, and they said the same thing, "need 30 more minutes."
I knew we were in trouble with the place when we checked in, and asked for two keys to our room. They said "We don't have enough to give you two keys."
The folks working there work very hard with a smile on their face, but management has GOT to hire more workers, and they've got to do a better job of managing the place. The wifi in our room was non existent. We complained, and they said they would fix it. It got worse. It didn't work in our room the last 3 nights, so we had to use our own paid for data which was a waste of money, and were not able to use the TV to watch movies, etc. On multiple times, we asked for ice to be delivered to our room, it's the only way to get it, and it took more than an our to get it. The room was beautiful, it was very, very nice. We had the honeymoon suite. The food is good. There are no snacks in the room, and drinks are very limited there too; just 2 beers in our mini fridge upon arrival, although they did go out and get us requested liquor, which was a nice touch. Overall, read a lot of reviews on the place. Not a top notch all inclusive resort. I would give 2.5 out of 5 stars.

Access can be challenging. By road it is 4/5hrs from St Jose and 1hr by mostly bumpy dirt road from what we believe is the nearest commercial airstrip at Nosara.
First impressions are of an excellent international standard designer hotel. Large public areas are superb with numerous water features throughout.
Our twin queen room with partial sea view was clean and spacious but the designer twin basin with no towel rail or hooks in the bedroom rather than bathroom was just bizarre. The balcony had a swing seat and other furniture and was quite adequate.
The vast beach is largely unmanaged and is protected by an offshore reef to provide good bathing.
The staff are friendly and helpful if lacking in the training expected in this standard of hotel. Tipping seems to be endemic and staff appear to expect tips for almost any attention to guests. We have never encountered this in any all inclusive before.
The 3 restaurants are varied but appear to have been designed to cater for the largely North American guests. Dishes seem to have been designed by an Executive Chef but implemented by amateur cooks. We heard about food issues from other guests we met on-site and we suffered from sickness on our last night after eating in Tao restaurant. Unacceptable at anytime, but with a 26hr journey ahead it was a complete disaster.
Overall impression is that it is an attractively designed hotel catering largely for North Americans which desperately needs to focus on its food offer.

The resort was beautiful. Always had good service at pool bar and at lunch. Breakfast and dinner not good service. The breakfast buffet would be out of eggs and no one around to cook fresh eggs. Or eggs were out but no serving spoons. Valentines day we were told we had reservations at Bocatto. When we arrived the restaurant was empty except for other confused guest who also had reservations. Finally someone came and told us restaurant was closed and we had to eat outside. After our meal was over people were in Bocatto eating. Our room was labeled ocean view but it was more resort view.

Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, my wife and I encountered several situations that we did not like:
- We made a reservation at the Asian restaurant. The order arrived in parts, 1:30 hours after ordering, and we eventually had to leave without receiving the main course. When we complained to the waiter, his response was "I can't do anything."
- The pool was dirty and the water was murky.
- At breakfast, with more than an hour left until it ended, 90% of the buffet dishes were empty and no one did anything about it until another guest asked for them to be refilled.
- The cocktails are made without a recipe and each bartender makes them according to their own judgment. They all taste different depending on the bar or bartender. There's little standardization.
- We asked for a change of pool towels at reception and their response was "there are none."
Overall, the facilities are very beautiful and the staff's attitude is good, but they lack a lot of training and, above all, supervision. It's evident that they are short-staffed and do not have captains or supervisors. It's not worth what they charge. I do not recommend it. I would not return.

The property was not clean and frequently had to request that the swim up pool be cleaned and filtered. The awning in the room fell and hit me but staff refused to do anything about it other than take it out the room. Staff was very dismissive.

Property is ideally located and staff are very helpful, but lack of sufficient beach chaise lounges created unnecessary problems that were not in keeping with a higher end resort.
Temperature of shower never got above the low end of luke-warm.
Food, although generally OK, was disappointing in that there was considerable inconsistency - same dishes often varied substantially in taste from one day to another. Very surprising. Coffee machines in public areas were frequently not working and from other reviews this seems to be an ongoing problem.

The property was as described, quiet, low key, adults only. Most of the staff were very pleasant, and attentive. The downside, excursions were only available on certain days, we didn't know this until it was too late. There was only 1 working ATV for that tour. Most of the other tours were 2-3 hours away from the resort, for that reason we didn't do any. The resort is a solid 2 hour drive from the airport. Our room was clean, but replacement towels and glasses were hard to get and our air conditioner rattled loudly every night. We didn't ask for it to be fixed, because it still worked. There are no staff on site between 10:00 pm and 7:00 am, we didn't want to risk asking to fix the A/C unit for fear that it might stop during the night, so we listened to the rattle every night we were there. We did go to Samara to shop a little, but the red taxi couldn't come and get us for over an hour, so we walked back. I would give the resort 3.5. Good, but still areas for improvement.

Excellent resort. Staff was friendly and went over and above when we had a medical emergency. Food and beverages were great although everything shuts down at 10ish. Rooms were clean, spacious and well maintained. We had minor issue with reoccurring door lock malfunctions but were generally fixed quickly. The beach is gorgeous and safe although they could use more chairs and umbrellas to avoid limited seating in the shade. Also beach towels appeared to be in short supply. Overall I would go back in a heart beat. We heard other people complaining at the front desk but we didn’t experience anything that would have made us complain.

No ambient. If u like to go have fun. This is not the place. It’s more like a nursing home for elderly people. It’s an all inclusive hotel. And they have hours for each food u want. You can’t order anything cause u have to wait for the time they give u to order. The breakfast sucks. It’s more of a continental breakfast. The drinks r limited. We asked for a specific drink. And they never had it. But if we tip $100 out of no where they would bring the bottle we asked for. Everything closes at 10pm.

Room was big and bed comfortable. Excellent dining options and great food. Service at restaurants was very good.

Overall, the property is OK but just a little disappointing after the other places on our trip. Everything is a bit rundown and most of the staff members don’t seem very happy. The food was mediocre at best, and the breakfast buffet was really disappointing. On two of the days they were completely out of eggs, fish and fruit before 8am. The room was nice but a bit rundown. Our housekeeper was one of the few friendly people on staff. We had some laundry done which was returned shoved into a bag in a wrinkled mess. Finally, wifi was good throughout the entire property except up near the oceanfront rooms. We brought our concerns to hotel management with zero results. After almost two weeks in Costa Rica we were expecting much more.

Great stay! Beautiful resort and great food/drink and lovely staff.

I liked the location of the property being small and secluded. The beach and property were clean. We received great service from Jose, Julie and Jesus.
I did not like that we asked for an iron, which we never received. They didn't provide us with the WhatsApp information to order room service while other guests seemed to know about it. The breakfast selection is very limited. The entertainment could be improved as well.

My mother and I went to this property in January for 8 days and really enjoyed the our time. I am not a fan of all inclusive resorts as the meal times seem like cattle going to a trough, but this is the best all inclusive I have been to. I loved how you could sit down for lunch any time you wanted, could book which restaurant you wanted to go to each night and the meals were amazing. The beach and sunsets were wonderful, and there were hardly any people on the beach. The resort is modern and top notch. The pool and swim up bar amazing. The staff were lovely and very attentive. My only concern is I think they might need more staff, we would see the same staff from 7am to past 8pm working so hard with a smile on their faces. Felt bad that they had to work such long days. I am recommending this place to all of my friends.

One of the best vacations we have ever had!! One of our servers/bartenders, Aaron, was amazing. Very friendly and attentive. We will be back!

Azura Costa Rica in Samara was an amazing vacation. Private Beach which is wide open and lots of room to walk, 5 Restaurants, Clean, Safe and above all, every staff member was impeccable, it felt like you were a guest at their home. Property and rooms are beautiful. I enjoyed the balcony of the Honeymoon suite, which is ocean front. I want to recognize all the restaurant servers and chefs, as the dining experience and food was a highlight - Axel, Randall, Aaron and everyone maintaining the property, it was spotless. It was fun to walk up the beach 20 minutes to the town of Samara. Booked the Kayak to Isla Chora and it was very fun. Went out to a rainforest reserve tour with Jungle Life, which Wilton the tour guide was knowledgable and spotted the eyelash viper, the famous Red eyed Costa Rican frog, Strawberry dart frog and sleeping & eating sloths. Stopped by Centro de Rescate Las Pumas to support a local sanctuary, which there are many rescues in Costa Rica to support the efforts to help wildlife.

I do not recommend this place, the food is good, there is a guy called José, he is the only one who has a service orientation, but the rest of the staff does not, the phone in the room does not work, at the pool bar They don't serve the "premium liquor" the staff has to ask the manager to bring you some liquor, because they don't have it at the moment, THE STAFF SEEMS STRESSING!! They said it's only one adult, but I saw a lot of teenagers in the hotel.

Its not 4 star as it advertised. The mattress was dirty like 1star no towels, no snacks, limited drinks in room. I had to ask 4x for towels before just giving up . The food on the property was good and the waiters were great. Definitely a no in the future.

The property was nice. The only complaint I have is that lights were out at 10 PM. If you’re looking for nightlife, this is not the resort for you.

The food and drinks were delicious, beautifully-presented, large portions and felt up-scale.
The rooms were large, comfortable and clean. Loved the in-room water dispenser! They were also very quiet and I thought the overhead lighting was very pretty.
The pool was lovely and the grounds were well-maintained. That area of the beach was also really nice:)
A few suggestions:
Not sure what the criteria is for allowing car services onto the property…but when our car service came to pick us up for the airport, they would not allow them in. We had to schlep our bags all the way to the front gate without any assistance. If this is going to be the case, they should have a golf cart to take people and their bags to the front gate.
Would be great if the in-room TVs could have some channels in English or the ability to sign into Netflix as there’s not a lot to do at night.
Finally, the beach service was inconsistent. There was only one day during our stay when drink orders were being taken at the beach. We also ordered food several times to the beach and it was never brought out. They certainly took the orders and we confirmed that we were sitting at the beach, but three times it happened that they never came.

This place is beautiful and modern with an open concept right on the beach the rooms look very pretty some have balconies overlooking the pool and some have swimouts. However there was a lot of mold in the rooms and we also found multiple roaches from adults to teenagers to babies meaning there was a whole ecosystem of creepy crawlies.
The staff was very friendly and made sure that the food service was great. But when it came time to rectify the room situation as far as the mold and the roaches they failed epically because the manager has yet to contact me while I stayed there for the last 3 days the manager had not contacted us. The staff there on site only offered to give me another room the day before we checked out which is unacceptable they gave me a cheap bottle of sparkling wine which thank you but no thank you, the only thing that even somewhat made it better was a complimentary massages we got in the spa but that doesn't begin to touch on the surface of making the situation better or rectifying it. They told me that staff is only on site from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. so when this incident happened it was after 10:00 p.m. and the only one there to help us with security who gave us a can of raid. I was told by staff that they had reached out to the manager and that I would hear something back because there was no manager on site never heard back from them. To pay for an all adult all inclusive resort on the beach where per night it was $350 a night for 5 night is craz

Beautiful hotel, we enjoyed the pool bar and the restaurant food was all good except the Tao Asian restaurant. But the others were very good. All the employees were over the top nice from the front desk to the cleaning staff. We will definitely be back.

Room and customer service was excellent. Could use some help in the food and beverage department. Typical food for all inclusive and they didn’t want you to drink much. Rest was great

Difficulty contacting property prior to arrival for airport pick up. We had rent a car. On arrival we noted no one at the front to great us, the property itself was not well maintained, irrigation lines were exposed, old buildings in front of property, rusting to rails through the walkway of resort, it’s an adults only, but their family resort is separated by a sidewalk. Hope your adult room is not on the family side. Our was beautiful with plunge pool, frequently asked for waterfall to be turned on. If you get a massage you have to go to the family resort next door. We had to constantly ask for towels, sometimes feeling as though we were asking for things and bothering them, most staff was pleasant but not all inviting. We travel a lot and we feel there needs to be more training towards hospitality. More attention needs to go to this property. We will not return we had a far better experience two hours away at a 5 star.

I loved the beach access

The swim up pool bar was great, the seaside grill also decent food and drinks. Spa was very good. Service from reception was limited at times, although there was one of the concierges who was very good.
Careful of the voucher for discount on spa or experiences -check with them about activities being applicable. Some of the food for breakfast and at the asian restaurant wasn't great.

Nice hotel.
