This is a gem of a comfortable, stylishly decorated, and homey small home with a very modern and roomy kitchen and gas fireplace. We did not take advantage of the outside patios because we stayed in December, but we can see how the outside spaces would add to the experience. It sounds as if this property was built as a space for the parents of one of the owners, so it is both roomy (with two bedrooms) and compact enough to maintain. For us, the location of the wedding we attended was less than a mile up the road. Also, this would be a very convenient location to any USAFA functions. We noted that this property did not seem to be available when our children attended USAFA, and if it was, it would have been far superior to any chain hotels we used in the past. The only question we had was that the listed noted a whirlpool/hot tub, which we did not see and we assumed that it is only operational in warmer months, and was not in the bathrooms spaces. Also, Black Forest is still a small community and to get to supermarkets, Walmarts, restaurants, etc, still takes a little bit of a drive. So, stock before arriving for the large refrigerator and well-appointed kitchen. Overall, highly recommended for families.

We came to the Monument area to visit family for Christmas. That was very enjoyable, but this VRBO site made the trip truly memorable. Titled 'the Nest ' it's tucked away in a forest landscape on the hostessess' property but not attached. They have sheep and goats to feed. We were snowbound for 24 hours but it was pleasant to slow down . I recommend the Nest highly

The house was exactly the way described and fit our needs on point!! Location was great. Quick into town to everything we needed, and not too far to Pikes Peak, Gardens of the Gods, etc. Loved the goats and deer all around, along with the privacy in amongst the trees. Would highly recommend and we will stay when we are back in Colorado!!

We spent three nights at The Nest during a reunion weekend in Colorado Springs. The location is far enough away from the city to provide peace and privacy, but within 25-40 minutes from many popular locations. We were very impressed with the quality and condition of the structure and furnishings. My wife specifically commented on the comfortable living room lounge chairs, well-stocked kitchen, updated appliances, and the adorable sheep—which she fed. Hopefully, we will get to stay longer next time. If you’re looking for a quiet oasis in the Black Forest, The Nest will not disappoint you!

This was a very nice place to stay! The Nest was close to places which was perfect for our trip. A secluded, wooded area to wake up to and then a short drive to see the mountains. They have chickens, dogs, goats, and sheep on their property right next door and we loved it. The host provided us with a fresh chicken eggs and we got to feed the goats and sheep graham crackers! There were a mama and two baby deer that we saw each morning in the back of the property. The kitchen was very well stocked! The whole house was well stocked. We were unfamiliar with Colorado’s bag policy(you have to pay for plastic bags) and they had reusable bags for us to use. Everyone in the family loved the stay! Thank you!

We were so glad we booked this amazing property. From the caring owners, to the beautiful location, this house was everything we needed. It was clean inside and out. It had all the amenities we needed. Air conditioning worked great and it was close to stores. We loved feeding the goats and sheep. It was wonderful to meet the owners. Would love to come back.

It is hard to fully describe how great this place is. It is a stand alone unit and we had complete privacy during our stay. The unit is a new structure with very nice up to date exterior, interior, decor, and appliances. It has everything needed for a stay plus some extras. Very spacious, comfortable and clean. Would definitely stay here again. Oh, and the goats were a hoot to feed with snacks provided by the owner.

We absolutely loved our stay. Just far enough out of town to make it feel like you were way out in the country!! My oldest loved getting up in the morning and taking his “hike” around the property! All 3 kids loved the goats and sheep! They were a hoot!! Would definitely recommend staying here!!! Nice peaceful quiet place!

The Nest was perfect for my family. We were in area for my daughters softball tournament and it gave us the perfect escape after games. Drinking coffee in the morning while sitting outside in the fresh air and lovely landscape was perfect before getting our day started. Drive to town / surrounding areas was not bad. Feeding the goats and sheep animal crackers was an added bonus and they kept us laughing with their random sounds. My 11 year old boy loved exploring in the backyard and stayed busy the entire time. We would definitely recommend!

We LOVED our week stay! The little cottage was stocked with all we needed (and more) in the kitchen to make meals daily. Appliances were very, very nice - especially the fridge and washer/dryer. Saw deer daily in the backyard. Very quiet (other than our own two little kids who loved running around outside and feeding the goats). Comfortable beds and great showers. Fantastic recliners for movies at night. Host gave us some fresh eggs from their chickens which were delicious. Couldn’t have asked for a better stay!!

The moment we arrived, Angela greeted us with a bowl of farm fresh eggs. After unpacking, we realized we didn't have a hairdryer, I texted Angela and a minute later our doorbell rang with someone holding a hairdryer. All of our needs were met. The kitchen was stocked with spices and some canned goods, and even a cake mix which of course we baked up. The home is beautiful, much more spacious than the pictures show. The beds are very comfortable, and 2 full bathrooms with beautiful showers. Angela also handed us a bag of animal crackers (our favorite snack too) to feed the goats and sheep which always started our days out with big smiles on our faces. Hearing the animals talk made us laugh all the time. Your home was so comfortable for my family of 4 for our Colorado vacation. Make sure to read the beautiful, romantic letters framed along the hallway, it will certainly warm your heart. This should definitely be a place for other vacationers to book!!!

We needed a handicapped accessible place for a getaway for my sister and me celebrating 18 months of cancer diagnosis .She uses a walker and doesn’t sleep in a bed and just wanted to enjoy the scenery. This was heaven sent. No steps, accessible shower, 2 excellent recliners we sat side by side in all day and slept in at night. This house in in the Black Forest and has many large windows so we could sit in the living room with the fireplace and watch the snow fall on the trees. Incredibly beautiful . It was also immaculate down to the smallest detail. The owners left a nicely stocked cubbard of necessities and spices and well as any cooking utensils you would need. Theirs is a farm and they brought us freshly laid eggs! Buttery deliciousness. It seems remote but just a mile away is the best pizza ever and deliver fee of $2.75…..whaaaat? The owners were so kind and when we had a question about the foldout bed or feeding the goats they came down and helped us within minutes. All of the appliances were new and The Nest was decorated with tasteful pictures of birds. You don’t have to be handicapped to enjoy this hideaway 15 miles to Garden of the Gods. It’s perfect for anyone. I’m sure I left out something but this is the best place I’ve ever stayed. Truely a home away from home. Thank you Gabe for your hospitality !!

We had a great time visiting our son who recently moved to the Denver area. We were able to spend Thanksgiving with him, and this cottage was absolutely perfect for us. The owners live nearby and were very prompt and helpful with any questions we had. The bathrooms and kitchen were very well stocked. We loved it and plan to stay again when visiting our son next time.

The home is adjacent to the hosts home but was peaceful and private. the hosts were very accommodating. the home is beautiful with all the amenities needed to enjoy your stay. I was on this trip for work but hopefully will make it back someday to enjoy all the relaxation it offers!’
