The view from room was awesome

Breakfast was less than great! Location to sheplers dock was amazingly close with a back way. View was nice. The walls were thin! Furnishings we're out dated. TV and remote had some issues. But for the price to stay on the water, it was expectable. Office staff was very nice!

Was disappointed in the condition of bathroom....sink drained slow, tissue holder fell apart when tissue pulled out (wrong size tissue box). The power strip was unplugged so nothing worked (TV, coffee maker, microwave). Some black mold around bathtub....biscuits were very dry.

Accommodations and check-in was very convenient. Some updating and improvements of the property are needed. Ice machine in the lower level is horrid. Just some maintenance all around is needed. Price very reasonable.

Fantastic lake views

The breakfast room had no heat, all breakfast items on one single row towards the wall at the entrance of the room. This caused long lines. Warm items got quickly cold by the time we settled on the table due to un-heated rooms and warmers were not efficient. Quite disappointing

I loved the balcony on the beach front view. Our room was very nice and comfortable. On the other hand the breakfast and room coffee was absolutly horrible.

The breakfast offered was terrible and very limited. Hotel needs updating.

Great view of beach. Breakfast was very basic, not great, and only served till 9:00. Vacationers enjoy sleeping a little later. 10:00 would be better.

Room was dated but clean. Beds were not comfortable, however the sheets were clean and pillows were nice. Fast, convenient check in and check out. Breakfast was ok, but minimal.

Staff was very courteous and acommendating

The hotel was HUGE and kind of confusing. Breakfast was far away from our room, on the 2nd floor. We saw the man working in the kitchen handling the frozen pancakes with his bare hands so we skipped it.

The check in and check out was fast. The room has a musty/ old strong smell. The door and the outside wall needs extra TLC, spider webs and dirt all over. The pool is nice and clean, but the hot tub has too much bubbles. Breakfast was nice and warm.

I stayed there for three days,the.room was not cleaned even I called the front desk three times and even went there to complain ,first day breakfast was the worst I have had,the had hard boiled eggs so hard done you could have used them for a golf ball , they were out of ham after I got to my room I looked out the window and saw a employee carrying a large plate out

No, I understand that. It was the end of a very busy summer tourist season, the facility was not as clean as I would expect. They were cobwebs in the corners of the room, the bed was worn and stained, and even the outside of the building was dirty, I believe the facility could definitely be better rated with a good cleaning

The pool has so much chlorine that my eyes burned after 20 minutes and I didn’t even go under. We tried the hot tub…. Same problem. My kids even wanted to leave after 20 minutes and didn’t argue.

The motel needs a power wash. Dirty siding front top window bird droppings. Stairwells are dirty. Ice machine dirty. Mattress uncomfortable. Room light fixture in bathroom had no cover. Light fixture had cobwebs and wires exposed. Room has outdated furniture. Dirty carpet left shoes bottom soles with black marks.

The carpet in our room was worn and had stains.

The beds were comfortable and the water was hot. The room smelled awful when we first entered, the dead bolt did not work, two lamps had torn lamp shade or would not stand up by itself, TV did not work properly and was on the wall at a 20 - 30 degree angle and the bath tub faucet constantly dripped. We will not stay there again or recommend this place to anyone.

Property was convenient to shops and the ferry to the island

Dated. Lots of wear in flooring, fixtures, beds and bedding. Not very accessible hotel. Breakfast lackluster. Staff dreary.

Friendly front desk, easy check in, right on Lake Huron. Very clean room.

It was dirty,lamps did not work or tv. Had to call for service. Cobwebs on lights, sheets stained, mold in bathroom. Check in person was rude and one of the worst breakfasts we have ever had. Will never stay at a Clarion again.

Older but clean. Bigger room than I expected. Good breakfast.

The rooms need to get updated, the outside of the hotel needs to be pwr washed, the continental breakfast they offer we had stale pancakes that were really small an bacon they also had yogurt an toast! Would I stay there again probably not oh not to mention the hot tub was cold the pool was better. The cpl things nice I could say is it was close to downtown Mackinac city an the view of the water was nice.

I have stayed here in the past, about 12 years ago at this specific hotel. We come to the area every year and typically try a new hotel. The owner of the Clarion also owns most the other hotels in Mackinaw City, which shows as they are all run down. This hotel has not had a thing changed since the last time we stayed here. The building exterior was extremely dirty, a simple pressure was would do wonders. The room was disgusting, an inch off the wall all around the perimeter and furniture was a buildup of dust/dirt. The room had a very strong mildew/mold smell and the bathroom exhaust fan did not operate. The bathtub shower was so worn out that the bottom of the tub has cracks and moves as you stand on it, I'm certain its leaking and water is leaking out. It's overall just dated from the 90s, and has not been maintained well at all. Go stay in a mom and pop hotel in Mackinaw city or surronding area, i would avoid any of these hotels and restaurants owned by this family.
