First impression upon arriving? Keep on driving! This place might be ok for fishermen and being a guy who likes to stretch a line - I'm certain I wouldn't even stay here with fishing buddies let alone my wife and dog. Here's what went wrong -
* If you are a light sleeper, you might hear every car that goes by regardless of the time, and my wife and I did - we got NO sleep and at 6:30am, we decided to be done with this place, count our losses from our 2 night stay and head home.
* My dog went exploring into every room and came back with either a bug,or a hunk of fuzz in her mouth and cobwebs on her nose. How 'bout using a vacuum and a wet rag to dust! Never felt clean or secure in this 'lil worn out home on a somewhat busy road.
* We tried all 3 beds - one leans, the other twin bed is in a room that captures the neighboring porch light coming thru the window and the main bedroom - you feel like you are sleeping on the stripe line of the road.
* Curtains are sheer - there are NO light blocking curtains in the room and the cheap blinds behind 'em do nothing.
* Putting up fishing or cabin decorations do not make this a "cabin". Be honest with your listing and photos - it goes further with expectations than having pissed off clients.
This is an extremely older house on a French Island main drag. If your looking to cut costs with your stay in a house that did just that, here ya go. A Motel 6 room would have been more comfortable and more clean than this joint.

Great location. Friendly people

For the 2 of us, we have done a fishing trip together every spring or fall for the last 35+ years, this cabin was perfect. It was clean, spacious and an excellent location for river/backwater access. The owner is next door and while he is very respectful of your privacy, he’s also responsive to any questions or needs right away!

Just stating the facts—the property is not on the water! The ONLY “access” is across a busy 3-lane street, behind a business, through the parking lot and down a hill—then there’s the water. That’s all I want to clarify.

I brought my son and nephew to fish for the weekend. Scott the owner is very laid back and easy to deal with. Great place to stay, will rent again from him when we come back up to fish. Thanks Scott for everything!

Everything was perfect with the cabin. Absolutely loved it. Older but adorable, comfortable and everything worked. Owner Scott was ideal to work with. His responses to my messages were immediate. Always had answers to my questions, and he was a lot of fun to work with.

Great spot to stay for bass fishing tournaments out of the Clinton St boat ramps. Another big plus is that there is a tackle shop literally right across the street.

Scott was a great host, answering questions and giving suggestions before we arrived and at our arrival. We were across the street from the Mississippi with access to a variety of rentals for being on the water. We were within walking distance of several bars and grills with good food and outdoor eating. Everything in La Cross was a close drive away.

Great location, close enough to downtown but far enough away to not feel like your in a city. It was about an $8 Uber ride to Downtown. Several nice local bars within walking distance with good food and drink prices. Scott was great to deal with and very accommodating. Would definitely stay there again, we had 4 people there and were very comfortable.

Fantastic place! Great for outdoorsmen looking for a good deal for a weekend! Hosts were super friendly and even let us check out later to fillet our fish and shower before heading home. Will definitely be back!
