About this cottage rental
An ideal place to base yourselves, whether you're seeking to relax in peaceful and beautiful surroundings or desire a fun-packed activity holiday, which could include exploring the vast and varied wild beauty of North West Sutherland's landscape; hill walking, sea and fresh water fishing, golf, ornithology, sailing, stalking, climbing or just lazing on secluded white sandy beaches. Return to the warmth of this cosy cottage with every amenity. Bedroom 1 Kingsize. Nextdoor is a bathroom with bath and toilet. Bedroom 2 with twin beds and luxury en-suite shower room. Room also has a desk. Open plan lounge/kitchen with full height windows overlooking the Kyle. Cosy wood burning stove plus underfloor heating throughout, WiFi, television, DVD player and ipod/iphone dock. Fully equipped modern kitchen with integral oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and washing machine. Linen and towels are provided and changed weekly. The cottage has private parking outside the cottage. On the paved area outside there is a picnic table plus a a large umbrella. Up to two dogs allowed in this cottage. @ £30.00 per dog.The paved garden is not fenced over the entrance.

Fantastic cottage in superb location. Despite visiting in the worst of weather, the cottage was very cosy - actually had to turn the underfloor heating down. Ideal base for touring the northern highlands, walking locally from the cottage or just lounging back and enjoying the view.

Unfortunately the property we had booked had an issue with the heating and it was not possible to stay there. The owner immediately made another property available for us which was actually an upgrade as it was a much bigger property. We had an amazing stay thanks to the owner.

Second time at Shore Cottage and still as lovely as ever.
Views over the Kyle never disappoint.
Probably best location in Durness, easy walking from the front door, shop 2 miles away well stocked, Smoo Cave Hotel good food and real ale 10 minutes in the car and ferry to Cape Wrath 400 metres.
We have stayed summer and early spring and can say any season will bring you great views from the lounge regardless of the weather.

The Cottage was excellent in every way, and the views were magnificent. It is well equipped and is close to all the major attractions. You have fishing, coastal walks and access to Cape Wrath within walking distance, to mention just a few. Gillie & Marta are quick to respond to any questions you might ask. I would also recommend visiting the Meet & Eat Cafe at Balnakeil Craft Village, and Balnkeil Beach is amazing. We will definitely be returning.

We spent a wonderful week in this beautiful house and this great area. Everything was arranged perfectly and Marta the housekeeper is very nice and helpful. We plan to come back once. Thsnk you for everything.

Lots of pleasant walks around, the tidal movements of the loch are very appeasing …quietness…
I recommend the visit of Lotte Glob ceramics, another sort of paradise, the walk to balnakeil beach, and and beautiful surprise if you go up the dune…and we met friendly people, Scottish and Polish and other ones…

We were very disappointed that the online description of the cottage we thought we had rented lead us to believe we had rented Shore Cottage. When we arrived we were informed that because we had a dog we had been allocated to Kyleview Cottage. We could not find any evidence in the booking and confirmation of booking that informed us we had rented Kyleview Cottage or that Shore Cottage was not dog friendly. We therefore feel we were misled by the way the cottages were advertised as the cottages were listed as one.
We feel this is a serious problem and the company that manages the cottages need to review their advertising and make this clear to future clients.
We advise all future guests to check carefully when booking Shore Cottage!
Having made the above comment, Kyleview Cottage was a lovely cottage and well equipped if slightly dated. It simply wasn’t the cottage we thought we had rented!

We were disappointed on our arrival at the cottage to find that the listing on VRBO had been confusing ,and the photographs of Shore Cottage, which was the one we wanted to stay in, was in fact listed as Kyleview Cottage. Therefore I booked Kyleview Cottage on the basis of the photographs of Shore Cottage. Confusing I know........however the cottage we stayed in was very clean, easy to access and we had no problems, other that not having the view we thought we had booked for a year ago. The bed was very comfortable, the kitchen well equipped and the surrounding area stunning although busier than I though it would be, probably because of the staycation rules. This would now however put us off from travelling to the area again.

Lovely property in an outstanding location. The views are great the property is well equipped. Only two things a clothes line would beneficial and more toilet rolls needed.

Beautiful location, stunning views across the Kyle. Could sit for hours watching the changing light and colours of the water and hills. Great location for exploring this unique landscape. Very helpful housekeeper and a thoroughly clean, cosy and comfortable cottage.

Very comfortable cottage in a beautiful location. We found it excellent for two people and their dog. Fantastic view along the Kyle of Durness, with walks from the door.

A lovely well appointed cottage, which felt so cosy and welcoming as soon as we stepped in the door. Loved our stay in such a peaceful idyllic setting, perfect for getting away from it all.

Lovely area for scenery. The coastline is spectacular. The downfall for us was the lack of footpaths that were suitable for walking with our 4 dogs, as more often than not there were unfriendly highland cattle blocking our route.
