We really enjoyed staying at this house. The is nice, but slightly dated. The location was great. Very short walk to the beach. The hosts were awesome to work with. Highly recommend!

The cottage was great. It was in excellent shape and we had a wonderful time. It's in a great location as we went to almost all of the major attractions on the Outer Banks from Corolla to Hatteras.

We're a family of five. The house accommodated all of us comfortably and was a great place to stay. We were within close driving distance to everything anybody could want. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed, and the ocean is practically across the street. We will look for this house to stay in again!

The house was decorated really well. It felt and looked clean. It is missing a dishwasher but with just 2 of us staying there for a few days, it didn't really matter. The location and price were just perfect! The floors and style of the decor were so well done. It felt cozy and clean!

Just the right size for my family. We loved the short walk to the beach. The kitchen had everything we needed. Stores and restaurants were also a very quick drive.

This was a great little cottage near the oceanfront and pier. The neighbors we chatted with were great and the house had everything we needed. It was a nice relaxing place to just a block from the ocean.

The house was exactly like the pictures, clean and tidy. Older place with upgrades (nice floors!), beach decorations but not overdone. Great location, a quick walk to the beach. Enjoyed the visit!

We had a great stay at the property. We had a change in the number of guests a couple weeks before our rental and reach out the owner/property manager and they were very responsive and helpful. With that being said, we had a very full house of adults and kids. The house was perfect for us, especially with the two bathrooms. The place was very clean upon arrival and everything was as expected. There was plenty of closet space in the bedrooms with a couple of hangers and plastic drawer storage bin in each closet. The one thing I think the place needs is a hall tree or hooks for hanging coats/hats in the main area. Or just more hooks in general. While the place was clean upon arrival, we like to keep the place clean during our stay. I just wish their were more cleaning products or a better vaccum to use during our stay. There is a great outside shower with hot water that was a must for washing off all the sand after a day at the beach, especially for the little kids. The house was equiped with everything you need for a day at the beach. You just need to bring your beach towel and cooler. The beach was a short walking distance and the beach access is right at the end of the street. Our only issue with the beach was how strong the surf was. There were times were not comfortable with letting our 5, 6, and 7 year olds (who are all great swimmers) past their ankles. This is not a beach where you can relax on the shoreline while your kids are in the water, We found we had to contantly be in arms reach of them at all times. The waves break on the shoreline and there were even some barrel waves breaking on the shoreline. I will preface this with the fact that we are from Massachusetts and are use to a calmer surf and waves not breaking on the shoreline so I do not know if this is normal for the NC coast. The beach was always clean and the life guards are present. There were some jellyfish in the water, but they did not appear to have tentacles and there were not enough to impact swimming. The water was very clean and no issue with seaweed. The weather was great the entire week. The location of the house is really great. It is close to a lot of attractions, grocery stores, and restaurants. We climb the Bodie Lighthouse, did a ropes/zipline course, played mini golf, visited the aquarium, visited Grave Digger Monster trucks, and road go-karts. Everything was less than a 30 minute drive. Overall it was a great place and vacation!

This was the perfect place. Had everything you would need. We didn’t even need to bring beach chairs, cooler etc.. less then a minute to beach. Perfect location. Close to everything. We will be booking again. 🏖☀️🌊

Had a wonderful time in this house! It’s close to everything we wanted to do. We loved hanging out on the front porch and playing ladder ball in the front yard! Very relaxing weekend!

The vrbo itself was very nice. A very good location if its after april. We really enjoyed staying. It was very clean and very well supplied.

Tommy Tautog's cottage provided a comfortable stay for a birthday get-away, and any length of time is never enough when having a good time. I like the communication one receives with welcoming, information, reminders, and imparting exit thoughts with this rental. I loved the Caretakers Lisa and Mike in response time when phoned. Their patience in listening, their calmness in resolving a personal not house issue quickly, and their personable, friendly attitude. To our Host Amy, the 1970's cottage is comfortable. We did a little TLC for about 20 minutes, and nothing I wouldn't do in my house. Oh, we loved the Keurig coffee machine which we didn't realize in the amenities. Appreciated the starter items. Bed linens and bath towels are professionally cleaned which confirmed our rental decision. Beds are comfortable, and good showers with hot water. The cottage photo shows parking below which some rentals do not have. There is also a water hose which was used to wash the car!

Great location, easy access to all activities. A very relaxing stay. You may want to check the TV in master bedroom it has no signal/connection.

Everything was great until we got home from dinner on the first night and a cockroach went scurrying across the kitchen counter . The next morning I woke up to one on the wall next to the nightstand , two more watching tv that night in the living room . I dropped my ring on the bedroom floor and it rolled under the bed , it was disgusting ! I don’t think they ever cleaned under there ! The place was nice but needs a little TLC

Tommy Tautogs was a great place for our family to experience the Outer Banks! As fellow short term rental hosts, we have high standards, and we are pleased to report that Amy, her caretakers and cleaning crew did not disappoint! The house has a quaint beachy cottage feel to it--perfect for our family of 4. The location is perfect... Just a short, easy walk to the beach and the house is located in a quiet, family friendly stretch of road. We enjoyed watching the sun rise, surf fishing and castle building. Everything you might need for a day at the beach is provided, including a cart to haul all the fun easily to the shore! The location of Kill Devil Hills was fun and convenient. We could easily shop for groceries, and it took just a 20-30 minute drive north or south to get us off the beaten path! We are so grateful for the hospitality and highly recommend!

We have two little ones (3.5 and 20 months) and it was perfect for our family. Short walk to the beach and nice neighborhood. The house had all we needed and liked having a washer and dryer. We are already planning our trip for next year.

The check in was painless, a welcome relief after 14 hours of driving. The cottage was very clean (and I have VERY high standards)and well maintained, we didn't run into any issues during our stay. I did reach out to the owner and manager a couple time with questions, response was quick, courteous and professional. Location couldn't be better. I counted 180 steps from the driveway to the beach access, which is right at the end of the road. Very quiet street, very well rated spa a few hundred feet away, local coffee places are within a 5 minute walk. We were all very happy with our stay and will definitely go back.
