New- Lux Barn Retreat! Private, and beautiful escape.
About this house rental
Feel completely off the grid yet minutes away from South Eastern MA’s best restaurants, beaches, nature trails, harbors and golf courses. This authentic, hand crafted; 1800s Cow Barn was beautifully rebuilt in 1978 and respectably renovated over the year to spotlight the craftsmanship of the barn and highlight the natural surrounding landscape. This private and safe pond front estate is located on a dead end street which abuts Glastonbury Abbey’s spiritual hiking trails, Foundry Pond, Hingham Conservation trails and multi-million dollar homes. Sit fireside and almost taste the stars as the night sky is unaffected by city lights. Want to keep it indoors? Throw a log in the antique, cast-iron wood stove; submerge yourself in the claw foot bathtub; or simply snuggle up and stream movies or sports on the 50 inch Smart TV. Order delivery from the finest restaurants in Hingham, Cohasset, Hull, Scituate or Weymouth and venture out and explore the local flavor. Be sure to check out any of the local breweries and brewpubs- or take in some live music. “The Barn on Weir” is the perfect spot for couples, small families, brides and grooms-to-be, fishing or golf weekends, girl's weekends or better yet…to simply treat yourself! Looking for a unique and memorable experience for a micro wedding/ reunion/ or corporate event? The grounds are perfectly private with picturesque backdrops of the mature, lush trees, quarry stone and pond. With extremely limited options to stay in Hingham or the surrounding towns= be sure to reserve your stay today!

Our family enjoyed the charm and location of this property; close to Boston and all the South Shore has to offer! The hospitality of the hosts made our stay comfortable and relaxing. We will definitely be returning to this property!

First and I should have realized this rental could go south from the get-go when the property owner was unresponsive. The listing only disclosed that further details of the property, address, entry, etc. would be revealed as the check-in date approached (day of check-in).
Sleeping accommodations state 6. The property only sleeps 4 AT THE MOST or/and you can utilize a camping cot; no one wants to sleep on a cot unless they are camping and the only other alternative is the ground. There are no twin beds that can be combined into a king. It is NOT fully outfitted in the least. There is NO dining seating for four. I again attempted to contact the owner and eventually had to go out and buy a frying pan to cook on a one-burner hot plate. I did not hear back from the owner until later the next afternoon via text.
No stove/oven, just a toaster oven, a miniature refrigerator, some dishes, and a few utensils, limited glassware.
The tub was not cleaned when arriving with hair weaved through the bathmat. The tub backed up filling with sewerage one evening and from looking at other reviews that had been posted, it happened to a previous renter and had obviously not been rectified. There was always water on the bathroom floor between the tub and toilet the whole time we were there. We had a leak as well in the roof that soaked some personal belongings. No cable, just the internet.
I do not recommend staying here.

We loved our stay in this rustic yet comfortable and stylish refurbished barn. Wherever you are in the house, there are wonderful angles and clever decor to see. We used this vacay to enjoy a woodsy retreat and to spend time at the many lovely beaches that are within a 5-10 minute drive. The owners are very thoughtful in how they stock this property as well, from treats to bath supplies to candles. If you think you are missing something you need, search around and you will find it.
Can’t wait to see what stage 2 of the restoration of this property brings.

Beautiful Rustic Getaway! The barn is as described and full of character. The owners went to great lengths to build a wonderful retreat for a couple or small family. The wood-work, dovetail joints and historical hardware are amazing and just not see today. The bathroom is small but has a beautiful marble sink and claw foot tub. Just sit back and enjoy the quiet while being only a few minutes from downtown Hingham. We will be back for sure!!

The thoughtfully decorated barn is cozy and inviting. Jackye graciously had welcoming beverages and treats set out for our arrival. The lighting is warm subdued. The relaxing vibe continues outside to the fire pit with neatly stacked wood and kindling. Flameless torches and other ground lighting complete the peaceful ambiance.

While our kiddos were away this was a perfect getaway spot for my husband and I. We walked to a few adorable restaurants and had great beachfront runs. We were so close to several local towns...it made dinner choices and weekend afternoon activities easy. The owner was just amazing. Helpful, proactive with great suggestions and very responsive. She filled the place with special touches for us...fresh flowers, welcome snacks and a treat for our pup. Loved this spot and our time there!

This was a very challenging stay- I didn’t receive a welcome email, had no way to get in when we arrived in the pouring rain, the Wi-Fi info was incorrect and didn’t work until someone brought over a phone to use as a hot spot for our entire stay, such a hassle! One of the twin “beds” is actually just a camping cot. Missing basic needs, including glasses for a drink of water. Worst part: sewage backed up on our last day and EVERYTHING came up into bathtub, sink full of dishes, and of course toilet- I can not express. What a disappointment for what was an important graduation weekend for my family, including incredibly challenging communication with the owner. Charming as it appears, I definitely do not recommend this property.

This property is beautiful and well located. It is both quiet and private. The owner had a bottle of champagne chilling for us, which was wonderful for our get away. While beautiful, this isn’t a property that I would rent again. It lacked sufficient linens, had mold in the shower, and smelled of mildew.
The owner was responsive to my concerns and new liners for the shower were delivered. It was expected that I should change out the liners and then clean the tub. Also, when I requested more towels, brand new unwashed towels were delivered.
The bathroom should in no way shape or form be described as spa like. It is rustic with lack of space for toiletries.
Also, while the property backs up to a pond, there is no water view. The fire pit area is amazing and the kitchenette has all the necessities except linens.
A notebook with information about the Wi-Fi, lights, location of extra linens and toiletries, as well as local restaurants and delivery menus would be a great addition.
Overall my husband and I had a relaxing time and enjoyed our trip.
