Lovely hotel with amazing views, our room was big, only thing was service at the restaurant wasnt great.

Wonderful stay at The Grand Serendip Hotel.
We only stayed one night, but wanted to stay for longer, it was that good.
We stayed in a suite and it was really nice. The room had a great balcony with beautiful views, lots of lovely amenities and free water. The bed was extremely comfortable and the shower was fantastic.
The pool area is small but adequate for relaxing.
The staff were wonderful, very attentive and they provide excellent service! They welcomed us with a lovely welcome drink and cool towel.
Food was delicious, breakfast was included and offered a wide range of options, including local dishes and fruit.
The only feedback I would provide is to improve pre trip communication. I emailed several times to gain help organising airport transport, but received no reply.
We would highly recommend this hotel.

A lovely hotel, modern and with friendly staff. Despite that, I checked out a day early and forfeited £120 because the room I was in was directly above the restaurant and the ceiling speakers were playing “Oh! Holy night” on repeat from 7am to 10pm for the first 2 days, I couldn’t cope with the third night of that and the manager didn’t fix the issue when I spoke to him about it. Avoid room 302 if you want a quiet stay.

This property is a must stay! We felt welcomed, our room was excellent and as Americans… the accommodations were comfortable including the bed. The panoramic view is beautiful and near cultural and historic sites. I would have stayed here atleast another night had I known what I was in for.

Rooms are beautiful with city views, but the hallways smell terribly unbearable. It offerred good breakfast and dinners. Receptionists need more training!

Hotel views were lovely, very quirky little pool where we took stunning pictures. Room was nice and clean, very simple with a large balcony, lots of privacy. Breakfast had a small selection of food from different places. Reception staff were a bit funny, didn’t say hello or goodbye, they make you feel quite awkward when you arrive. Not the biggest issue but this is quite strange as everyone else from restaurant to housekeepers to porter were all so lovely and friendly! Unfortunately really struggled with the noise surrounding the hotel (hotel itself was quiet) the balcony doors are two panes of sliding glass and they’re not fully sound proof so you can hear the kids at school singing at around 7:30/8am. Traffic and noise from the streets can also be heard due to this design.

This hotel left a sour taste after a sweet fortnight travelling around Sri Lanka. Whilst the hotel rooms and facilities are indeed very good, our enjoyment was marred somewhat by the General Manager's behaviour at breakfast. Though fawning quite literally over guests who had a shorter stay at the hotel than myself and my partner, on three occasions he made a very deliberate effort to avoid speaking to myself and my partner altogether. He may well have personal grievances with LGBT guests, but may I remind him that my dollars are the same colour as those of his other guests and that "hospitality" is to be afforded to all no matter what creed, colour or sexuality. Otherwise there are plenty of other options for travellers in Kandy believe me. Moreover, unlike every other accommodation we stayed at in Sri Lanka the staff were more "functional" than friendly and I really consider that insisting on taking milk into a guest's room whilst they are lying in bed rather inappropriate. Such a shame.

A nice hotel which we booked having read lots of good reviews, but let down by customer service/ a bad experience. We arrived and were told that we’d been upgraded for our first night and would then have to move to the room that we’d originally booked for the remainder of our stay. As we’d arrived late in the day and were due to depart for a tour very early the following morning, we said we didn’t want the room upgrade as we wouldn’t have time to re-pack/switch rooms. We’d already booked a room which we were very happy with. We were then told by the person checking us in that we’d be able to stay in the upgraded room for the duration of our stay. Based on that, we accepted the upgraded room. However, the next morning, whilst trying to eat breakfast quickly before our tour, we were informed by staff that they needed us to pack our things and move rooms. We referred them back to our conversation from the night before and told the member of staff that we wouldn’t be moving rooms until we returned from our tour that evening. They kept pushing that they needed the room back. After a bit of back and forth, they seemed unhappy but had no choice but to back down and let us go for our tour. The hotel was then calling the driver of our tour to find out where we were/when we’d be returning. The whole experience did spoil the start of our time in Kandy.

I liked everything about this hotel. The management goes out of their way to ensure everything is perfect for your stay. The rooms are excellent and the restaurant is 5 stars.One of the best hotels I’ve stayed in after fifty years plus of traveling.

Loved our stay here for 2 nights.
The staff made sure gluten free options were prepared ready for us when we arrived at breakfast each morning.
There was a strange noise at night and the manager moved our room immediately.

Beautiful modern hotel with great views overlooking Kandy. Large spacious room with comfortable bed, walk in shower and balcony overlooking the city. The hotel also has a lovely rooftop bar and all the staff were very friendly and provided a high level of service. The walk may be a little far to the city centre for some people but I enjoyed the walk especially around the lake. Transport easily available as an alternative. Thank you for an excellent stay I would highly recommend this hotel.
