We have been coming to San Clemente for several summers now and we always stay in a different place, some closer to restaurants and shopping (like this one) and some a little closer to the beach. I am always drawn to anything with a little charm and I have to say this is my favorite by far. It doesn't feel like a standard rental house, it feels like a really wonderful home. It's more spacious than I would have thought from the pictures. The kitchen is really well stocked, the place is gorgeously decorated and extremely clean. We spent every morning having coffee in the front yard and enjoying the hummingbirds. We managed to use the hot tub one night which was very relaxing. (I had never seen a two person hot tub before but it worked great for us) My favorite room was the den, since both my husband and I had to work a bit while we were there it was nice to do it with a pretty view. We didn't have a pet with us but if you are traveling with one it was very pet friendly. I would definitely stay here again, you can't beat the value. My only recommendations would be: a wand lighter in the kitchen (I don't know how those 1930's housewives lived without one) and more beach supplies (chairs, towels, etc.)

If we are ever travelling to Southern California again, I will check the availability of this house before I book the airline flights. It's homey and comfortable. We were sad to leave. I am a cook, and even though this kitchen is not like my kitchen at home, it had everything I needed for our eat-in meals. There was plenty of room for the five of us to gather and lots of quiet corners for alone time. The beach and shops are within walking distance and kept my teenage son and friend busy during down times. The town seems safe and the people are friendly. Easy access to I-5, but you would never know it. One of the best vacations we have ever had. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!

Lots of positives for this place. We spent July 4th 2010 here. The charm and coziness totally grew on us with each day. It's not the Ritz, but it's definitely a home you wished you lived in. You walk in, it's very clean. The whole place is well decorated given the space. We made use of the bbq. The kitchen has almost everything we needed. (see note at bottom) We spent a lot of time hanging out in the relaxing backyard. Sat in front of the easy to use fireplace. Spent the nights in the two-person jacuzzi tub. It was quiet, pleasant, lovely. Lots of little things went a long way here. A fountain in the front and the back was very soothing. The gated back yard and dog run was perfect for our pup. The beds were extremely comfortable to sleep in. The wood windows became a fun tradition to open and close every time we came and went. Maria was very responsive to our emails when we had questions. The neighborhood is really cute, with friendly neighbors. The walk to the beach took about 10-15 minutes and there's a great park before you get there. It was perfect for our July 4th weekend. Fireworks went off on the pier and we practically had front row seats after we walked down to the beach. Main street is only a few minutes away with plenty of dining choices. Mimosa Cafe was one of our faves. We really look forward to returning. A few things to be aware of: There's no dishwasher and no microwave. It wasn't a problem for us. But if you don't want to do dishes, then just be aware.
