Pros- location was amazing, enough beds for our large group, hot tub was clean once we got it turned on. Cons-very run down with little up keep done. I’m not sure why this is on Vacation Rental By Owners as it is obvious an owner had not stayed here in a long time. This is a rental company that rents out and does the bare minimum maintenance. Out first issue was no Wi-Fi. A member of our group had critical work to conduct our second day and there was still no WiFi after call to manager. She ultimately had to Uber to the public library for WiFi access. A member of our group spent 8 hrs waiting for Spectrum and staying to resolve this. We bought food to cook and found disgusting baking sheets, broken spatula. Fry pan with handle about to come off, to mention a few. The kitchen table is under open steps so if someone walks up while your eating dirt falls on table. There were ants in both kitchen and kitchenette. Lack of closets, just racks to hang clothes on. Gross bathroom floors and baseboards. The listing did mention it was not a luxury rental. Lots of IKEA type furniture. The garage is very tight and the listing did mention that. Basically very run down with cheap furnishings. The roof top deck had broken spindles and slanted stairs, it did not feel safe walking up it. All deck furniture extremely worn. I did leave note, as instructed, for cleaning crew. I hope they update the kitchen items beyond repair rather than toss them back in the drawers.

We loved the location of this house! We enjoyed being right off the board walk and close to everything. We had a large group and appreciated how fully stocked the house was, plenty of towels and blankets! We also enjoyed some time on the rooftop deck.

Many rough spots in the check in - lock box for garage broken, no power in upstairs bathrooms, 1 garage door broke after first lift up. TOO MANY FLIES NEAR BACK GATE I was afraid I would inhale one when going in. Lock on front gate to walkway to beach rusted closed. No handrail or hold at the bottom of the stairway, which is why I said not a rental for seniors. Ben was helpful when he called, but the bathroom light situation was discovered too late. Not the house we thought it would be from the photos on the web.

The two great things about this property are its ability to sleep a lot of people and how close it is to the beach. However, there were so many things wrong that unfortunately it took away from our time there. Only one out of the four screen doors were actually attached when we arrived at the house. They were leaned up against the side of the house. There is no AC so having the doors open for ventilation is a must. The flies inside the house were a constant nuisance. You could not let food sit for 10 seconds without flies landing on it. We called twice the second day we were there and they did send out a handyman to attach the screen doors. He did attach them however there was a 3 inch gap on two of them- he said he’d return the next day to fix that but never did. The dishwasher was not secured into the cabinet so when the bottom tray was pulled out the whole thing tipped forward onto the floor- one time it actually rolled across the kitchen floor! One of the tile steps going up to the second floor was broken and crumbling so we had to be careful where we placed our feet - a little nerve-wracking with kids. Only one of the four bikes at the house actually worked. A second one was taken out but the handlebars became detached while riding it. Looking at the website for the house now and the reviews there - it’s totally false advertising...bummer.

We arrived to a drunk homeless man in the alley which was not a good first impression. There was no pride in ownership of this property. The outside was unkempt and dilapidated and the inside was not much better. The rooftop felt very unstable to walk on and there was an area by the front door that we were afraid to step on for fear of falling through the deck. The couch and chairs at the table were very uncomfortable which made it hard to gather as a family to visit. It was hard to wash the sand off when the hose had several holes in it. On a positive note, our bed was very comfortable and the weather was perfect. I expected better for the price I paid.

The proximity to the beach is great and we took advantage of it several times. The surrounding alleys were awkward to navigate, loud in the mornings, and often used by the homeless for a place to sleep. The garage is very small and combined with the tight alley, it made coming and going very difficult. Enough so that we modified our plans to accommodate. The house itself was very run down and has seen a lot of poor quality repairs. Several light switches appeared not to work, there was loose tile on the stairs, we tore clothes on a nail protruding at a threshold. The gates were stubborn to operate. The bathrooms show signs of significant water damage. The house was not well prepared for us when we arrived. There was wet laundry in the washing machine. The kitchen was missing some basic things like measuring cups and spoons, and had a lot of partially opened questionable looking food supplies. There were bags of starbucks sugar and sweetener strewn across the counter. Ants were a problem throughout our stay. Several light bulbs were out (we bought some as they locked away the replacements). For the money, we expected a lot more. We would not stay here again.
