Cozy enough

Comfy beds, working AC, clean bathrooms, close to downtown/casino. Exceptional for a 2 star motel

the host told me i had to pay with a credit card initially. when i offered to pay my deposit with cash his demeanor shifted and he loosened up. i understand why. nonetheless, i dont want to be sized up that way when I am a guest.

A great expirence!

I really liked the inn keeper. She was so helpful and kind. The location was great too, right near were I was attending a show. The motel was very accessible and easy to find. My room was clean and met my needs. It was easy to walk to were I was going that evening. Checking in and out was super easy too!

Friendly, simple, affordable.

If all you need is a bed for the night, this is perfect. Centrally located in the downtown area, clean, with microwave and dorm fridge in the room, which was more than I expected.

Worth the price for a simple night room in city

Location, security, Size

No coffee pot in my room, floors weren't swept but good for what we needed :)

Floors were ok

Stained curtains, stained comforters, marks on toilet seat and mouse trap in the bathroom, someone's hair in the beds, overall run down and gross.

We would stay again, checking the water first.

The location was great for where we need to be. The staff was friendly. The property has the potential to be very charming.

The property needs some maintenance and TLC. No hot water to the shower.

I really enjoyed myself. For the price I paid, I was pleased! No issues, no problems and the receptionist was very friendly and helpful!!!

A little worrisome at first, but okay in the end.

Office people were great & friendly. Beds newer and very comfortable. Close to event venue.

A little rundown and general cleanliness could definitely be improved upon. Floors & toilet especially could be cleaned better. Definitely do not walk barefoot in room.

Cheap hotel i great location with minor flaws

The location. Close to Ford Field and Comerica Park (15 minutes walk) Safe area and no homeless on the streets in the area. Plenty of traffic in the evening to feel more than safe on a walk home. (Yet not at all disturbing inside the room I had) Yes, the room have its flaws if you have hotel like expectations and it do have a slight smell of smoke from the inside but nothing major. But it is a pretty cheap motel in close proximity to Downtown Detroit. Nearly half the price of the cheapest alternatives in the area

The AC could have been slightly better. Didn't really feel like it truly worked, but it wasn't that hot so had no real issue And the beforementioned smokey smell. The beds buildup with the plastic on the bottom matress, I undestand it, it just doesn't look that good :)

Expected quality, staff and owner were nice and let me stay another night.

The staff is nice and the rooms are clean. It's very much what you would expect but it's a great location to every thing too.

Get a second floor room.

Charming surprise!

The owner of this small throwback motel is a delight! Very personable (I suspect she's the original owner.) Lots of nice touches, such as the cheery blue quilt print bedspread, and a picket fence between the posts of the walkway on the lower level -- which I'm sure was the protection needed for the lovely patch of healthy lawn between it and the parking area, creating instant appeal to an older property in this rather worn section of Detroit! Picket fence and grass! -- I'm in Detroit, really? And the bath towels were so soft, not the typical low-budget find!!

The Viking motel shows its age in small, fairly insignificant ways, things not affecting our comfort: insulation visible around the a/c unit, a slightly rusty bath drain. And don't be put off by the homemade covid-secure passthrough for items not fitting through the usual paper & pen tray under the plexiglass in the office: she joked that it "protects people from this mean old lady!" (LOL -- not a mean bone in her body, I'd say!)

great spot

the price and location. for budget travelers who want a location not far from downtown Detroit. rooms seemed recently remodeled and everything was very clean. I came here for movement festival. it was great spot for the price.

Very good

Very good value. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the room for how cheap it was.

There were a noticeable amount of ants on the bathroom floor at night, but nothing alarming.

There was a breakfast, they didn’t say anything about that, the rooms look not that great, rooms were cold, it’s was clean fir bring a 2/3 star motel

Very good

Updated room, clean bath, clean linens Seems to be under new management, grounds cleaner, well lit. If you only need a place to stay downtown Detroit, why pay double anywhere else.

Poor

The bed was comfortable, it had a coffee maker along with a microwave and refrigerator. I enjoy their Xfinity tv and remote. It was close to downtown.

I didn't like hearing all the noise, primarily the bass noises ("music") from cars outside, almost all day long. I couldn't get a WiFi signal, either on my phone nor my Roku player I brought with me for the TV. There was no cold water running from the fossets. I had to put cups of water in the refrigerator to have cold water to drink.

Absolutely horrifying

The only good thing was it was within walking distance to our concert venue we went for! Other than that-was horrible!!

Tub had dead bugs in it, the room smelled horrible, the comforter on the bed was thin and had stains/dirt all over it! There were pubic hairs in the bed sheets, the outlets didn't work other than the one for the tv/refrigerator. The floor was disgusting, dirty! We ended up sleeping in our car for the night because nobody was in the office when we got back at 2 am.
