Nice Room with beautiful sea view

Modern room with sea-view at a reasonable price. The owner is extremely nice and the breakfast he prepared for us was delicious and beyond what I could possibly eat. Highly recommended!

It was an idyllic two days. I’m looking forward to visiting Porto Venere again soon.

The suite was beautifully decorated in a modern understated style. My window overlooked the sea from several stories above the beach. The breakfast was lovely with fresh fruits, yogurt, Nutella and warm croissant. The owner was so helpful in answering my questions and making suggestions for restaurants. He helped me to take my luggage to the port. His staff even did a load of wash for me as I had already been sailing in Sardinia and needed some clean clothes for my next stop in Parma.

Still thinking about this little slice of paradise...

Still thinking about this little slice of paradise... Silvano's warm hospitality made us feel immediately welcome and at home. He does a fantastic job of keeping the rooms clean and comfortable and making sure you have everything you need. Breakfast was abundant - sweet and savoury dishes to suit all different tastes. We enjoyed waking up and having our breakfast by the window facing the sea, it was a truly magical experience. Portovenere is slightly out of the way, but this is what makes it very peaceful and special. It is not overrun with tourists so it does offer a somewhat authentic experience. I will forever cherish Silvano's friendliness and generosity... it is something that makes you remember a place with much fondness and I hope I have the blessing of visiting again some day.

The ferries were not running due to choppy conditions while we were there so we had to take a bus from La Spezia to Portovenere (not the most convenient). It also made getting to Cinque Terre inconvenient, but I would still choose to stay here over the Cinque Terre islands for the peace and quiet.

Perfect stay in Portovenere!

We loved our stay at L'Ancora! It is centrally located in Portovenere close to shops and restaurants. Our room was super clean and comfortable. Breakfast which consisted of pastries, yogurt, and cappuccino was excellent. Silvano was very accommodating. He went above and beyond helping to carry our luggage to catch a taxi into La Spezia. We would definitely recommend this establishment.

We loved the B&B L'Ancora and cannot give the location and Silvano high enough praise. It's the prime spot in Portovenere (which we found to be the least touristy and most beautiful town near cinque terre). Silvano was an amazing host bringing us a delightful breakfast of fresh focaccia, croissants, Ligurian sweet bread, cappuccinos, and fresh squeezed orange juice each morning. The room was very clean and freshened up everyday. We already miss the view from our room! Definitely recommend!

Magical

The hotel’s location and view were amazing. Silvano secured us a dinner reservation even though late in the afternoon. Restaurant just across the street and had a wonderful dinner there - Portivene -breakfast delivered each morning to our room also excellent- Magical!

Perfect location coupled with clean facilities

The location was excellent, couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay in the heart of Portovenere. Silvano was also very accommodating and welcoming! The view from the room was also amazing, as was the breakfast delivered each morning.

Amazing experience and will be booking for next year!

This was one of the best travel experiences we have ever had! The host, Silvanno and his wife were amazing! It was like living with a true Italian family! So well taken care of. The guest rooms were very well appointed, super stylish and modern, beds so comfortable, impeccably clean. Book a room with a view of the water...absolutely beautiful. The breakfast and coffee were delicious.

Utterly delightful stay

L' Ancora is run by a wonderful Italian family and the host Silvano is an exceptional man. From check in to check out Silvano was there to assist us. The rooms are gorgeous and very comfortable, we were not in the room with the sea view but it was still a bright room with plenty of space, great shower, comfortable bed and lovely breakfast served in the room every morning. Silvano had wonderful restaurant recommendations and was always there to help. We arrived by car and he ensured there was a space for us in the nearby underground parking by the grand hotel, this is not a cheap option but did mean the car was in a safe place for our stay. We very much hope to return one day :)

Perfect location steps from ferry to Cinque Terre, and bus to train station. Silvano was an amazing host. Super friendly, met us at the door and carried all our luggage upstairs (which earned him the nickname Hercules!). Helped us with recommendations. The room was clean and pretty with a beautiful view. Silvano welcomed us with Prosecco and a snack. Breakfast was delicious! We were so sad to leave! Would move in if I could!

just brilliant

perfect location right in the centre of the gorgeous little shopping street, above the harbour and next to the church. The service was beyond brilliant, with extra little touches like proscecco on arrival. The room was very comfortable and the breakfast was delicious, especially the fruit salad. Silvanio did everything he could to make the stay as perfect as possible.

I will make sure I book a sea view next time as I felt I missed out on this!

Everything about my stay was excellent from the moment that I arrived. Silvano was kind and attentive and lamented the fact that I had not called him sooner to help carry my luggage to the B&B. The room and bathroom were both perfectly clean, well decorated, and big enough for what I needed. The location could not be better to see the biggest attractions in Portovenere as well as access to amazing restaurants. The breakfast in the morning that was brought to my door was fresh and delicious. And in the end when I left, he did carry my luggage all the way down the street and to my ferry. I cannot say enough good things about my stay here!

Silvano (the owner) is an absolute joy. He was so helpful and pleasant during our stay.

L'Ancora was the perfect place to stay for our one night in Porto Venere. Our window had an amazing view of the water and Palmaria. The room was perfectly clean and the bathroom was great and very recently renovated. Breakfast was delicious and hand delivered to our room (and fresh pastries picked up that morning!). Silvano (the owner) is the best!

The room was a little tight but we expected that and I don't think you could do any better!

Wonderful B&B overlooking Portovenere. We can't wait to go back!

We had the most INCREDIBLE stay at L'Ancora. Silvano was the kindest and most helpful host and went out of his way to make our stay at L'Ancora extra special. Absolutely beautiful sea view room and a delicious breakfast, which Silvano made gluten free for me. Couldn't recommend it here enough and cannot wait to go back!

I wouldn't change anything! We loved it all!

Overall wonderful!

This is a lovely hotel with a beautiful view of the bay/harbor area. Truly idyllic location. Also, a very nice breakfast, delivered to your room was a lovely way to start the day!

When I booked, I hadn't realized that you are really just renting a room - there is no common space. It felt more like a guest house than a hotel.

We all absolutely loved L'Ancora and would 1000% recommend it to everyone!

Our group of 5 (2 couples and 1 single) rented the three sea view rooms for a few nights and we could not have enjoyed our time at L'Ancora more! The rooms were very clean and comfortable with updated features and modern decor. The rooms aren't huge, but we all had plenty of space. The beds were extremely comfortable and they thoroughly cleaned our rooms each day while we were out exploring. The in-room breakfast every morning and the views of the harbor were wonderful and we also really enjoyed the central location. The gentleman who runs the B&B was also very nice and extremely helpful -- he carried our luggage up and down the stairs (only 1 flight) for us, waited around for the airline to deliver some of our delayed luggage, took our coffee orders for breakfast each morning, and held our bags for us after we checked out so we could go hiking. Staying at this wonderful place made our time in Porto Venere so much more enjoyable!

the shower was a bit tricky, you had to stand under cold water to operate the water temperature tap. The wash basin in the bathroom ....a bit to small

The staff is very kind. He explained about where to go in Portovenere, and brought us our breakfast on time in the morning. The croissants and focaccia was delicious and we had them looking the sunrise by the window facing to the harbor. The room was new and very clean. There is a wonderful restaurant almost in front of the entrance of the hotel, so it was very convenient to go back to our room, after having nice regional wine and beautiful dinner. Check in and out was very smooth.

Beautiful room, kind service and great view.

Spectacular location, with view over the sea. The room is big enough, with nice comforts: TV, safe box, mini fridge and a nespresso machine with complementary capsules. The bathroom is very nice and clean, with a nice shower and they provide some very nice shampoo and shower gel, body lotion, clean and soft towels and slippers. The breakfast (brought at the door) is luxurious for a B&B, with freshly baked croissants and focaccia, freshly squeezed orange juice and fresh coffee (and more).
