A car is recommended. The property has 2 units - Castle II is the lower unit. Security cameras are located to view the trash cage area About the Area: Lake Arrowhead, Lake Gregory, and Big Bear Lake are recreational lakes in the Southern California San Bernardino mountains. They offer fresh crisp air, cooler weather (10-15 degrees) in the summer, and snow in the winter. They also offer a more relaxed and low-key energy “vibe” making them ideal locations for getaways to renew the mind, spirit, and body and to reconnect with family and friends. We answer frequent questions regarding the lakes and have put together some information below on what makes each location unique so it is easier to match with your specific goals for your time away. Upon booking one of our properties, you will receive more detailed information on how you can spend your time in the area. Big Bear Lake is a public lake and friendly to all types of boats and water sports and is the largest lake of the three. There is a short paved bike and walking trail that goes along the lake. Big Bear is a City and is more populated with stores, restaurants, and nightlife than the other two locations. It has more of a “desert” feel in terms of its topography. Big Bear is 26 miles up the mountain from Lake Arrowhead, Although none of our properties are in Big Bear, we recommend it for a day trip. Lake Arrowhead is a private lake and is accessible to guests staying at properties with lake rights if the owners have given permission for guests to use their ALA (Arrowhead Lake Association) passes. If this is the case, the Amenity “lake access” will be checked on the listing. In our list of properties, the Gingerbread Cottage is providing lake access. With lake access, specifically, the lake trail is accessible. There is a $10 per person per day fee that is required to be paid to receive a wristband for access. More information can be found on the ALA website. Swimming is allowed from the lake trail at any location except the beach clubs (these are restricted to owners). There is no ability to launch boats or SUPs on the lake. The Village is lakefront and is the main area for shops and restaurants and has a fitness center as well. The Queen boat is a tour boat on Lake Arrowhead that provides much of the history of the town - tickets can be purchased at the shop by the lake. There is a local company that offers water skiing lessons boat tours and rentals. This area has more of a small town and alpine feel to it. The Villas area (south side of the lake) in Lake Arrowhead is cooler and gets more snow that lasts longer than the north side of the lake which gets more sun in the winter and is hotter in temperature in the summer. The Villas area is an older area with older homes and narrower streets. The Tudor House is an event center offering Sunday brunch and a variety of events. Skypark is a local attraction as well as Snow Valley for skiing for both Lake Arrowhead and Lake Gregory. Lake Arrowhead is 15 minutes up the mountain from Lake Gregory. Lake Gregory is a public lake in the town of Crestline, a small town about 20 minutes from the base of the mountain of San Bernardino. It is the closest mountain town to events and locations “down the hill”. In the past few years, the lake operations have become privately managed with significant improvements being done at the lake including the development of a water park, beach improvements, and boat, kayak, and canoe rentals. There is a fee to access the beach area and the water park and no fee to access the 2 1/2 mile trail around the lake. Fishing is allowed and more info can be found on the Lake Gregory website. Crestline has a small-town alpine feel with the lake nestled amongst the tall trees. Crestline gets less snow than the other 2 lake locations. The quaint town has restaurants, coffee shops, and thrift stores. Twin Peaks/Blue Jay sits in between Crestline and Lake Arrowhead and is convenient to both lakes. It has its own restaurants, shops, and thrift stores. It is famous for its outdoor farmer’s market on Thursday afternoons (seasonal). The age minimum is 25 (families with kids welcome). For 28+ night stays, please inquire first (not instant book); the following deposits apply: Refundable damage deposit is $100 Refundable cleaning deposit is $350 To keep the cost low for smaller groups, there is a $12 per person per night additional guest fee when there are more than 2 guests. Note: The cleaning fee for 28+ day stays is higher than the short-term cleaning fee in the listing. For stays 28 nights or longer, the cleaning fee is $240. The difference between this fee and the initial cleaning fee paid upon booking will be collected along with the deposits before check-in. - 45-day cancellation policy and for shortened 28+ day stays Immediately after booking you will receive our short rental agreement to review and accept. PETS: Beginning in December 2023, we are happy to announce our Happy Paws Community Program to help local animal shelters re-home and save the lives of animals. We are now donating 25% of all pet fees to a local shelter/animal rescue. We are also launching our Happy Paws promotion for pet parents who help us get the word out about the Program by posting a picture of your pet on I-N-S-T-A-G-R-A-M at our home and receive $25 off the pet fee (details below). We really enjoyed our month in Lake Arrowhead and staying at the Castle. The location was perfect- close the the lake with a great lake view, but secluded and serene . Our home was clean, well-equipped, recently remodeled and attractive. It was exactly what we needed to relax, reset and rejuvenate! The owners were friendly, accommodating and responsive. My wife and I both commented when we were leaving, that we had gotten exactly what we were looking for from our trip- a much needed sense of peace and calm in our lives. We’ll be back!

The pictures of this property don’t do the actual view justice!!! The house is amazing. Plenty of room, beautiful views and all that you need for a weekend away. Sitting on the porch each night was so relaxing. The property manager was attentive, checked on us and responsive when needed. Highly recommended!!!

Went up to Lake Arrowhead for a peaceful and relaxing stay in nature. Wanted a place that was a little more refined than a traditional cabin experience. It truly met our expectations. House is lovely, has all the amenities. Have to admit, super spacious overkill and amazing for just the two of us! Incredible view and very quiet! Easy to get to the all the surrounding towns. Our intention was to relax in nature, meditate and rejuvenate. Was perfect for that. It really helps to read ALL the information provide in the email we received prior to arriving as well as the notebook on the kitchen counter. Very well organized. Love that the cabinets have pictures on the inside to know where to put things back. VERY SATISFIED.

If you are looking to relax and destress this is the place for you. Fabulous views out every window. Not far from the village for good food, shopping and entertainment. The 1 hour boat tour was fun and informative. We will be back and already referred the Castle to friends.

Lovely, spacious property!
Beautiful house, very clean, and easy to get in contact with hosts! Bummer the lake is for private use only, but hanging out in the house, making dinner in the gorgeous kitchen, sipping wine on the veranda, and watching movies in the living room made up for it. Great stay. Do wish I had known there was a downstairs tenant before booking but it didn't cause any real problems.

We needed a nice getaway for my wife’s birthday and we really hit the jackpot with this rental. The views are amazing. The beds were very comfy. It’s clear the bathrooms have been upgraded and there are three, which was great for our family. The kitchen was large, and the views from the dining room table are breathtaking. Peggy manages the place and is awesome. Being that she is from PA, she’s aces in my book. Very friendly and communicative.
Some notes- the grill was not clean, so be aware of that when you go to cook on it. Also, the deck is smaller than it looks on pictures, so don’t plan to have your whole family out on it at the same time. It’s a great spot to have your morning coffee though. The oven is small, so be prepared to cook on the stove and do less oven type things. Bring paper towels and garbage bags. Third, the garage will fit a small car or very small SUV. Our Honda Accord was too long. So if you can, take as few cars as possible. Parking is limited.
All in all it’s a great spot to hang out for a few days. I absolutely would book again and am already thinking of doing so soon. Thanks for having us.

This house has gorgeous views! From sitting at the dining table enjoying dinner, or relaxing in the master bath, the views are one of a kind. The village is just a couple minute drive so the store is close by. There’s a cute toy store there near the point that the kids loved as well as a shop that sold delicious caramel apples. We would definitely book a stay here again. We stayed in early March this visit and we’re already discussing a visit back during the summer months!

Snowy Pristine views
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would return to this location again. The views were amazing. Due to the massive recent snowfall, the road getting there was a bit treacherous, but luckily we didn't have to leave until the end of the stay. The kids even found a street just behind the house that was closed due to snowfall, so they had their own sledding hill. Overall, we were able to work/distance learn with little disruption due to all the spaces we were able to carve out. My only comments for the homeowner are the supplies were very sparse and the cooking utensils need to be upgraded. We ran out of trash bags and dishwasher detergent as there were only three of each. For a group of 7 who home-cooked every meal, that was not sufficient. Lastly, all the pots and pans were in poor condition, with handles really loose. It was hard to prep and cook. It's a gorgeous kitchen so we were disappointed in that. But, overall, we really loved the space.

We decided to take a quick trip up to Lake Arrowhead for a night and enjoyed our stay at this property. The bedrooms were a nice size and the mattresses were comfortable. The bathrooms were clean and water pressure was good. The central heat was excellent and, combined with the fireplace, made the house nice and cozy. The house is laid out so that it feels larger than it actually is and would totally be comfortable for 3 couples, or families with kids. The only critiques I would give is to ensure the microwave is cleaned (it was dirty), and to toss out the half used and open condiments and other foodstuffs that previous guests have left in the kitchen cabinets. I'm assuming that the owner leaves them for convenience, but I really don't think anyone will be using them and it makes the cabinets seem a bit messy. Also, the bathroom rugs were a bit dusty and could probably be replaced with light floor towels like at hotels. The other minor isssues we had were taken care of quickly by the handyman. We couldn't find the garage door remote, but we didn't need it anyway. I'd recommend this property for a quick trip or even for an extended stay.
