About this condo rental

High Oak House is a character, terraced, 300 year old house… It contains a self-catering, second-floor apartment situated in central Ashburton – a stone’s throw away from cafes, bars, boutiques and a good range of local shops, with Dartmoor on the doorstep… The accommodation is newly appointed, and represents a fusion of ancient and modern – with exposed beams and a thoroughly modern wet room, a roll top bath up on the open-plan mezzanine sleeping platform, and all the conveniences of elegant, comfortable living down below. The apartment sleeps 5 : a double bedroom, with views of the hills and church spire from the window seat, and an en-suite wet room… with a spare pull out single mattress and bedding provided for a 5th guest. Upstairs there’s a double bed and bathroom on the mezzanine platform. The bathroom has pull round currains on 2 sides to allow privacy . The main living space is open plan, with kitchen, diner and living-room over-lapping, enabling you to combine food and socialising in an easy, intimate atmosphere. The 5 windows including roof lights ensure a light-filled space for your relaxation and enjoyment. An extra pull-out bed is available on request. Outside and up a flight of steps, a designer-built garden overlooks the valley opposite, and provides a sun-trap in the afternoons for lazy barbecues… Sophie Conran crockery and pure cotton sheets help complete the holiday mood. A concierge service is available should you need us to book or recommend restaurants, massage and beauty treatments, hampers of local produce or even CRB checked baby sitters… We can be on hand to ensure you have the best possible holiday experience ... Attractions include River Dart country park, Buckfast Abbey, a climbing wall, otter and butterfly farm and the Devon steam train in Buckfastleigh, a poured concrete skate park, heated outdoor swimming pool, a museum and thriving Arts centre with several performances each week can be found on the doorstep in Ashburton, as well as 2 award winning delicatessens, cafes, restaurants and many antique emporiums and unusual independent shops.

Family loved it. Car park can be an issue. Visitors are expected to do a detailed segregation of recycling waste and take it out to the bins.

Accommodation exceptional, everything you could need. Francoise was on hand for any queries that we had and was very prompt in dealing with it. Would say that there are some very steep steps so may be not suitable for people who have mobility difficulties. Very nice break.

Ashburton colourful apartment
Ashburton colourful apartment
Loft apartment with great character full of well chosen and interesting objects . Spotlessly clean. Quirky bedrooms. Beautiful garden to sit in . Need to be able to do lots of stairs and not be shy with the people you are sharing with. Owner was very helpful and caring. Excellent location to shops and places to eat and places to visit in Devon .Parking could be an issue but we always managed to squeeze our car in a space along the road. Overall a lovely place to stay.

The very old house in Ashburton was renovated with lots of love and offers the hole comfort you need on holidays. A little garden with a picnic site rounded everything off. Ashburton is a very nice little town with many small and lovely shops and the perfect basis for a journey to Exeter, in the Dartmoor or to the coast. Francoise is a very adorable hostess who didn’t only surprise us with a little gift at the beginning, she also gave us many tips and suggestions to explore the envirmonet, in a very open minded and kind way. Thank you a lot Francoise
