Herrliche Lage, tolle Stimmung des alten Gemäuers!
Bleibt nur zu hoffen, das es für die Erhaltung der Anlage
auch eine Unterstützung vom Statt gibt!

We loved our 5 nights stay at Schloss Moosburg, realy enjoyed the peace and quiet, the wonderful nature and the unique experience of staying in a castle that's so authentic - it still (mostly) has it's original 16th century roofing! I must confess I was a bit confused with reviews being so polarised (checked them on Google), and can honestly say I don't get the bad ones, I guess you have to choose according to your personal preferences, and this hotel was everything we needed for our short vacation. Don't expect luxury, because it's not even what the hotel's advertising, rather enjoy the uniqueness and authenticity. The staff was very complaisant, we even got a tour of the castle and learned a bit of its history, which was a very nice bonus. There's a lake right beneath the castle but we sadly didn't get a chance to bathe there due to the high waters caused by storms and floods a week before we got there. The breakfast was more than enough, and even though we're not dog owners, the hotel is very pet friendly as many of the other guests brought their canines with them and all were treated very welcoming. Schloss Moosburg was a perfect basis for our everyday exploring of Carinthia and we'd love to come back, both to the hotel and Carinthia :)
The rooms were very spacious and clean, but the bathroom could have gotten cleaned a bit better. The bed in our room had a big footboard which was a nuisance for my 2,03 m tall husband, but nothing unmanageable and nothing he's not already used to. Also, it would be nice if the room had a small fridge so you could have a cold beer waiting for you after all day on the road, since the hotel has no restaurant or bar, only serves breakfast.

The place surprises you. We only stayed for one night and enjoyed it a lot. The host takes care of you and the place feels like a mystery. Rooms are spacious and views are beautifull. Good breakfast as well.
We only stayed for one night, all was good and as expected for a stay in a castle.

The Heritage style of the place. Breakfast was very good and plenty.
No open Restaurant after 19:00 on Sunday in walking distance. Closest was 2km walk.

I tried to check in and the „owner“ didn‘t pick up the phone. Probably because I had an Italian phone number. The I tried with an Austrian number and he answers straight away. These happens 2 times.
He was very grumpy and made you feel not welcome. The beds are very short if you are bigger than 180cm I don’t suggest these accommodation.
The hospitality. And there was a lousy breakfast. 2 pease of old bread 2 teaspoon of jam a bit of butter 2 coffee and 1 egg a person. We had to go eat somewhere else.

An incredible experience, highly recommend over any hotel. So much more unique and so much history. The Schloss is so well preserved, will try to come again.

This was the best hotel I have stayed at in years. The location is perfect. The staff were friendly and easy to understand. I would definitely stay here again!
The tap in the bathroom was inverted (hot was cold, cold was hot)

Staying in a real castle with a long history filled us with special energy. Breakfast was nicely prepared and served in a pleasant atmosphere. On a dewy morning, the water in the nearby pond was just warm enough for swimming.

We liked our stay very much. It is an exceptional feeling to be able to sleep in a castle. We very enjoyed the tour of the castle’s chapel. It is somehow a different feeling to come to a castle, and feel like home… Person needs to get used to something completely new to him, and uncommon. It is not like sleeping in a hotel. It is kind of strange, a bit scary, unexplainable, and it has some magic about it. There is this feeling of unexplainable cause, by which you start to gain a relationship with the castle itself. At first, it’s a bit scary, it’s big, it’s strange, it is old, and with a lot of stories to wittness. And that’s just what is beautiful about it.

How often do you get to stay in a castle ????
We had heard/read some average previous reviews but the host has changed.
Fantastic atmosphere, old world charm, good location, very interesting history, great host full of information and history of the schloss. Breakfast was exceptional.
Gerry (the Schloss dachshund) captured all our hearts!
We could even swim in the nearby lake.
The castle tour (including aperitif) with Herr Bauer was excellent and he shared many insights to the castle history.
Remember this is an old castle - so there are steps (just important to be aware of in case you are not fully mobile).
There were great leisure areas on each floor of the castle, with comfortable chairs, shared fridges - but we did miss a kettle (to make a coffee for ourselves).

The Castle is amazing, especially the place and the nature around. The history of a castle, the design, rooms and views from the windows are breathtaking
STAFF.
I have never seen such a nasty and unfair attitude toward the guests as in this place.
The manager was arrogant, and disrespectful to women (me). I made a reservation through the booking and I PAID for everything already which was written in the confirmation from the booking.com. But the manager in the hotel had different prices and they wanted me to pay a second time the total amount while I did already done it through booking.com and I had the confirmation! the manager didn't allow me even to say a word interrupted me and was soo disrespectful that he manipulated me saying if you don't pay the total amount - I put you on the blacklist!! While I had my relations only with booking.com and I did everything right but he accused me of lies and didn't believe what was written in my booking confirmation! THAT WAS A HUGE STRESS for me. Such people as this manager should not work with people, and should definitely learn by heart the rules of booking.com and whether at all the hotel may blame the client while the client did everything that booking required her/him to do! that was a problem of the hotel and booking.com of why they had different prices and definitely not mine!

The unique experience of staying in a castle
The dirt road leading up to the property is too bumpy

When weather is good the place can be charming
The stuff didnt care. The castle is really old and walls and windows are leaking. The only answer is 'its old castle#. There is no cleaning. During two days not even once the floor was cleaned and in the fridge there was still stuff after previous guests. No one checked COVID certificates even before breakfast.

The entire experience of staying in a real castle, giving name to the town, raised high above the surroundings, with uneven stone stairways, cracking floor, and castle'ish furniture in the lobbies like a library etc.
The host were very friendly. Speaking good English and made me feel welcome.
Breakfast outside in the sun with a great view.
There were no elevator. It is part of the authentic experience of an old castle, and I knew it in advance. But still hauling 18 kg luggage to the first floor is demanding.

Great service at the breakfast, large rooms.
