We stayed in the southwold suite furnishings looking a little tired

Upstairs and property exterior badly in need of redecoration
Net curtains in the bedroom and bathroom - ugh!

Nothing other than the staff, whom were all very helpful.
Room (too small) - En-suite (very difficult to shower / not clean) - Bed (A very cheap mattress) - Breakfast (cheap ingredients)

Conveniently situated for the centre of Southwold - a short walk. Staff very friendly and efficient. Well stocked bar, lovely evening meal and delicious breakfast. Bar and restaurant light and airy and also a nice terrace area. Comfy bed and good shower. Would definitely stay again.
Nothing!

Nice hotel but a bit expensive
Carpet in my room needs cleaning, and the paint work around the hotel needs refreshing

Although undergoing and in need of upgrading, we found the Blyth very clean and comfy. It was a short walk to the centre of town and quiet. Our room had everything we needed. Breakfast was included and was generous. The old hotel had a lot of potential and is better inside than it appears from the outside.
The hotel was the perfect place to stay to explore Southwold, but we found the town itself disappointing. There was nowhere in town to eat at night time; the hotel restaurant was closed and the bar shut at 9pm. If we were to return to the town, we wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Blyth, but we see no good reason to return.

Food was of good quality and service also good.
Room was only cleaned every other day as a result we were short of toilet rolls, tea, milk etc.
Added to which there was a smell of sewerage if the window in the toilet/shower room was not left open.
Also there were were no door notifications requesting "Room to be made up"/ "Do not disturb"

The cooked breakfast was good but there was no proper continental breakfast, only cereal, toast and fruit. Location was good.
We couldn’t get hot water in the shower long enough to have a shower. There was no blind at the window only nets in the bathroom so no privacy at night. Nothing to put your toothbrush and toothpaste in. No extractor fan. Nowhere in the bedroom to put your toiletries, hair brush etc. small mirror behind the armchair. No blackout curtains so hotel lights shone through like daylight. Balcony was very dirty and full of cobwebs.

Position of hotel easy walk to town lovely walk to Walberswick which starts directly opposite
The fact that the front door was always locked and our key did not work! Had to stay out all day as couldn't get in no one answered bell. When got back at 7 staff inside but still locked had to wait for someone to come out to let me in!

location was cool only a 10 min walk to beach
local staff very friendly
breakfast tasty
had issue day leaving no water!!!
6.45am tried to clean my teeth no water
couldn’t run water in shower and toilet or sink
after a hour gave up and went downstairs to see what was going on
water was ok in restaurant and downstairs toilets
it was very obvious it was a pump or fuse to blame the staff was told by the manager it is a on going problem up the street!!!
The manager would not discuss the situation with me!!

Breakfast choice was just enough, food quality was very good. Evening meal available, not a vast menu, but quality was good. Staff are excellent, very friendly and helpful.
Room decor is a little shabby, broken side panel on bath, fabric on bedframe footplate was ripped off. Mattress was uncomfortable, maybe nearing the end of its life?

Staff were very friendly, hotel is in a great area- 10 minute walk to the pier, breakfast is amazing, bed very comfortable!
There was an issue with the hot water on the first evening so unable to use bath/shower etc. this was resolved the following day however the shower didn’t run hot so had to bath. Room was satisfactory, needs a little TLC and the bathroom needed a good scrub (dust on radiator, dirty window sill, towels and curtains stained.

Nothing to dislike…

Good quality breakfast and friendly staff
The room was very small and didn’t give us (2 adults and a bulldog) much room to move (especially surprising as we requested a dog friendly room when booking). The shower cubical was tiny and dated - The sliding shower cubical door broke and became stuck closed which the hotel were aware of when I raised it with them. So we were quite surprised they hadn’t replaced it as it could be dangerous especially if someone was staying alone and got stuck inside the cubical.

Check in good, staff were all attentive & very pleasant. Nice bar & dining area, our room was fair.
Great location for the town with plenty of options for food & drinks. Beach is fairly close. Transport links available.
A good breakfast with some reasonable options too & a BIG bonus point as there were coco pops in a big packet, top banana.
We had a suite the last time & it was worth paying the extra. Room was okay this time but quite draughty especially in the bathroom. I went to use the loo downstairs & there was no toilet roll & the pan needed some attention! I felt too embarrassed to say anything! I fixed the curtain in our room! And there was still some litter on the floor. Not a lot of beer options in the bar.
