Nestled in Southern Region, this lovely cottage for R 2,505 per night is a fantastic option for your next break. A beautiful and cozy cottage located between the two lakes, Apavatn and Laugarvatn. In the nearest area is the top tourist attraction in Iceland, “The Golden Circle“, with one of the stops, World Heritage Site Thingvellir, only a 20-minute drive away, and two other stops, the world famous Geysir hot spring and the Gullfoss waterfall less than 60-minute drive away. 7 kilometers away you will find the old school village Laugarvatn, situated at the lake. Home of the famous natural steam bath Fontana. Within easy driving distance: Numerous luxurious geothermal open-air swimming pools (spas) and golf courses. 15 kilometers away you will find Selfoss, the largest town in Southern Iceland. There, you can do all your shopping, go swimming, or visit cafés or restaurants. You will also find three of the highlights of popular South Coast day tours, Seljalandsfoss (86km)– the waterfall that you can walk behind, majestic Skógafoss waterfall(114km), as well as the black beach at Reynisfjara close to the small village Vík (145km). The house can comfortably host 4-6 persons Two bedrooms with double beds (200x140cm) One sofa/sleeping bed (200x140cm) in the living room The kitchen and the living room are open space. Karl and his wife were very accommodating—there was a problem with the original property we booked with them, so they offered us a bigger and nicer cottage for the same price. It was in a very remote area, which we loved. Very cozy, and the hot tub was lovely. Communication was great as well. Thanks very much!!

This cozy, comfy cabin was absolutely perfect for our trip. The owners were helpful and accommodating. Evening soaks in the hot tub were our favorite. We'll seek this cabin out for our future visit for sure.

It was clean and quaint, with a great location to use for visiting the Golden Circle. It was quiet but did not feel too isolated and had all the little amenities that made the stay comfortable. The hot water has a smell of sulphur because it is coming from a natural hot spring, so if you can handle that you will love the place!

The cottage is well equipped, comfortable, and clean. Check-in was a little cumbersome because we needed to stop at the owner’s home to pick up the key and bedding. But it was a pleasant stay and convenient location.

The cottage was the perfect home away from home! It was very clean and provided everything we needed for our visit. We even saw the northern lights from the hot tub! Karl had great communication and was the ideal host. If you are considering booking, we would highly recommend!

We had a lovely stay at this cottage. Very comfortable, in a great location to visit the Golden Circle and Southern Iceland. The cottage is very clean and organized and well equipped with thoughtful touches. Karl and Jona were very communicative hosts.
We enjoyed having so much privacy with the location of the cottage, but we recommend picking up groceries before you head out here. We also recommend visiting the thermal baths at Fontana ( a 5 min drive). Much less crowded than the Blue Lagoon and a fraction of the price!

We had a really nice week in this property. Karl and Jona are very nice people and everything went very well. The location is really very good. Lots of sights in the immediate vicinity. After our exploration tours on the "Golden Circle" we always liked to come back here to relax in the hot tub...it takes a little getting used to that the hot water "smells" a bit (sulphur)... but it wasn't Problem. We can recommend the property unreservedly. Thanks again to Karl and Jona!

We so enjoyed our stay at Karl’s place. It was a perfect size for our family of six and we loved how well constructed and maintained we found this private little cabin in the Woods. We found it was stocked with everything that we needed and Karl went out of his way to provide detailed instructions and plan ahead for everything.
The slight sulfur smell from the water honestly just added to the experience and charm. We felt like we got the authentic Icelandic / Golden Circle experience while staying here.

These were great holidays in a stunning cottage.
The location is perfect for wonderful days all around the golden circle. You can reach everything from there in a comfortable distance to spend a relaxed time at some of the beauties of Iceland.
Our hosts Jona and Karl were as helpful as possible, answered all our questions during and before our stay in shortest possible time. The cottage was cozy, and we missed nothing.
We'd love to come back one day, because we definitely have to catch up on using the tub, which we missed this time.

The kitchen was adequate for making meals whenever we wanted and the fridge was a good size for storing our food items and drinks. There are a few good restaurants in the area, and also a nice spa in Laugarvatn with the thermal pools.

My family of 4 enjoyed our stay. The cottage had everything we required. Location great for sight seeing.
There is a sulfur smell to the water, but it didn’t bother us.
We did have to pick up bedding at owners home, which we didn’t know beforehand. They were very informative however. Gave us a German to locate the cottage.

We used it as a home base for day trips, which made some days a little long upon returning. It was well equipped for cooking and relaxing. Good WiFi. One suggestion would be for the owner to put a picture of the gate with driving instructions as we were unclear of which cottage it was initially. We couldn’t see the cottage number when driving. The owner was very responsive and kind. Overall it was a great trip.

Perfect clean cottage with a great location
We had such a fabulous time at this cottage. It was perfectly clean and comfortable. The owners even provided a pack an play for our son, which proved to be very helpful. They provided a GPS unit which was awesome for finding our way to the property. It is located in the Golden Circle area just outside Laugarvatn. There are great things to see in and around that area and it also provided a central location to travel outside the Golden Circle. The hot tub was a nightly favorite of ours. Just totally perfect - thank you Karl and Jona!

Wunderschönes Häuschen in ruhiger Lage in der Nähe von Laugarvatn. Das Haus ist klein aber sehr gut ausgestattet. Die Lage ist ruhig und idyllisch. Es ist ein sehr guter Ausgangspunkt für die Attraktionen im Golden Circle. Der Hot Pot ist natürlich ein Highlight. Wir haben hier eine sehr schöne Woche verbracht und können das Häuschen nur weiterempfehlen.

Fantastic location. Well-equipped cottage
Jona and Kalli did an excellent job in preparing the cottage for our stay. There was everything we need in terms of kitchen utensils, and the spa was simply amazing. You get all the privacy you need and in a good day you can see the Hekla from the porch!

Superlage, ruhig und zentral
Wir wurden von Jona und Karl sehr freundlich begrüßt. Das Haus ist klein, aber gut geschnitten und sehr funktional. Die Küche ist sehr gut eingerichtet, es fehlt an nichts. Die Betten sind bequem, genauso das Schlafsofa. Die Terrasse und den Hot Tub konnten wir reichlich nutzen. An den Schwefelgeruch des heißen Wassers hatten wir uns nach wenigen Tagen gewöhnt. Die Lage des Hauses ist ideal für Ausflüge zu den Sehenswürdigkeiten des Golden Circle, aber auch die Insel Heimaey und die Geothermiefelder von Hvardagerdi sind gut zu erreichen. Einkaufen kann man in Laugarvatn oder in Selfoss.

Merveilleux chalet dans un cadre splendide
Nous avons passé un séjour fantastique dans ce chalet typiquement islandais vraiment cosy niché dans un coin de verdure à l'écart mais très proche des grandes attractions touristiques du cercle d'or.
La propreté est irréprochable et tout y est pour bien cuisiner .
Nous avons pris le petit déjeuner sur la terrasse ensoleillée le matin.
Nous n'avons pas eu le temps d'utiliser le jacusi.
Karl le propriétaire est venu nous apporter les clés du chalet à Reykjavik car il n'habite pas sur place.
Si nous avons la chance de revenir en Islande nous reviendrons dans ce chalet !

Great Little Cabin In the Center of the Golden Circle
Very nice location that is literally centrally located to Geysir-Gullfoss, Pingvellir National Park, Reykholt, and Selfoss area. The highlight was the Hot River in Hverigardi. Enjoyed the hot tub daily! Would stay again for sure.
