What a beautiful location surrounded by an abundance of nature and wildlife. The wild horses were the big hit however the migrating birds were also amazing. We stayed for four months, the house felt like home, warm and cozy and very comfortable. Everything you could need was just a short ride in either direction from grocery stores to restaurants, museums etc. Kate and Gary were the consummate hosts and very responsive to our occasional needs and great tour guides to boot. We will definitely consider returning in the future.

Spent a long weekend at this property when visiting Hunting Island Beach (my all time favorite beach). House was immaculate and utterly beautiful. Very well stocked to the point I was even surprised to be honest. Kate, the owner kept in touch via email up to my stay with minor details wrong with the property that she was working to fix. Very minor to the point that if she wouldn't of told me, I wouldn't have noticed. I lived in the area for 3 years so I was aware of the local setup and was prepared to have to drive into town for food or whatever I or the kiddos may have wanted or needed. So be advised of that, you will be a few miles from a grocery store or restaurants if that is something you worry about. This property has a breathtaking view and is absolutely fantastic. Even my 7 year old enjoyed sitting on the porch admiring the view. Only complaint I have is that I had to leave 🥺 my family and I will definately stay here again next summer for our return to Hunting Island Beach if it's available. To anyone reading this review, just book it, you will have zero regrets unless you enjoy massive crowds and hate the sounds and beauty of nature.

Wonderful all around. The house is spacious and slept the 8 of us easily. The A/C worked great, even meeting my wife's stringent standards. It is located at the end of a secluded drive, perched on the edge of coastal marshland. <10 min to the beautiful Hunting Island beach, 15 min to Walmart and grocery stores. The owners were wonderfully nice, welcoming, and quickly communicated on everything, even minor hassles.

I am a Carolina boy, raised in SC and live In Eastern NC. I have stayed all along the Carolina Coast. I have never had a cooler experience and to have my children to share it with, was pretty amazing. When you first drive up to the house and fiddler crabs are scurrying across the road then you know you are about to get the full show. I felt as if I had dropped into a Pat Conroy novel. The marsh was amazing and at low tide the snap and cracking sounds in the Spartina grass makes you feel as if your in a pan of frying bacon. Lying on our backs on the dock watching shooting stars at night, because there is little light pollution was breathtaking. The Wild Marsh Tacky horses visited us every low tide. I have hung out with wild horses at OBX and Shack Banks, but these guys were really at peace with us being near them. We did not touch or feed them. We caught shrimp and pogies with the cast net off the dock and was lucky enough to bring in a skate on the rod and reel. (make sure you bring a stiff surf rod with a 4oz weight to reach the deep holes at high tide). We also saw bald eagles, osprey and every variety of coastal birds. The beds were comfortable, the showers were great and they have every utensil, pots and pans than you would ever need. The house is more spacious than it looks in the pics. We were really only in the house to sleep and shower. We spent most of our time either on the back porch, the dock or on Hunting Island. The north side of Hunting Island Beach is pretty amazing and desolate at low tide. The beach from water to dunes can be up to 200 yards wide there. You can actually ride your bike on the hard packed sand. The owners were great and the check in and out process was very simple. The bugs were no issue while we were there (end of July) because there was a constant onshore breeze, however, if there is no breeze blowing that can expect the bugs to be in full force.
