.Grade 11 listed cottage in Fishguard, Pembrokeshire
About this cottage rental
Situated in Fishguard, this lovely cottage for R 3,058 per night is a fantastic option for your next break. The Monthly Tutors Cottage is a grade 11 listed character Pembrokeshire cottage, renovated by the owner and has many original features. It has a south facing garden and a lower garden/orchard which houses a shed and log store for the wood burning fire. It has been graded by the Wales Tourist Board and has a 4 star grading. Bookings are from Saturday to Saturday. The cottage is situated in a wooded valley on the coastal path and is 100 metres from the sea at Lower Town and 100 metres from Fishguard town centre. It has the advantage of a rural setting with the facilities of the town close by. The coastal path is across the road from the cottage and is very scenic in either direction. There are bus links from Fishguard to other areas of the Pembrokeshire coastal path so having a car is not essential. There is a rail terminal at Fishguard Harbour which is in the neighbouring village of Goodwick and is about 1 km from the cottage. The ferry to Ireland crosses from here twice daily. There are numerous beaches on the County and many of these are small coves scattered along its coastline. The cottage benefits from a secluded south facing garden with a lower garden and orchard. The wood burner is a key feature and gives the cottage a very cosy feel especially in the evenings with a glass of wine. Parking is outside the cottage as the road is a no through road. Sorry no pets allowed.

We stayed for 2 weeks and thoroughly enjoyed our cottage. We can’t praise the cottage and location enough. Well stocked kitchen. We lacked for nothing in the way of kitchenware. Immaculately kept and beautifully decorated to suite the history of this listed property. Roger and Margaret are delightful caring hosts. Thank you. Would highly recommend!

Great cottage just the way you would want it.
Just a small problem in the plumbing I gues what gives a bit of a less pleasant smell in the bathroom. But surely not stopping us from booking here again.

Lovely little cottage in Fishguard. Perfect place to come back to after a long day exploring the coast and visiting various places. Perfect home from home, cosy, had everything we needed all in one place. Would definitely recommend to anyone and would stay here again 😁😁

The cottage is very authentic and lovingly decorated in detail. We particularly enjoyed the stay and daily excursions in the area can also be done well on foot and to end our romantic evenings by the fireplace. There are also all shopping facilities in the village, so that nothing is missing. So we can recommend the cottage with a very clear conscience. Thank you again for the wonderful stay in their cottage. Martina and Otto

The property was really cosy, full of character and practical. The location was fantastic, just a short walk from the coast and the town centre, but really quiet (we could hear birdsong, but no traffic).

Grade 2 listed so expect quirky like you can hear EVERYTHING upstairs as wooden floor boards have gaps between them. Internet was painfully slow so it impacted my work commitments. Very warm and cosy with very well supplied in all that you need and did I say QUIRKY !

Like living in a museum. Very lovely collected decoration and furniture with a good feeling of combining old and new. Well equipped kitchen, we missed nothing. We (4 adults) enjoyed living here, especially we loved being that near to the old haven.

On the information it clearly says that Bathroom 1 has Toilet, Shower, Bath and Shower. There is no toilet in that bathroom. Having a family of 6 staying I had expected the 2 toilets as said.
Bedroom 2 is not a Twin/single it is bunk beds, that information would have been helpful.
Bedroom 2 has 2 unsafe wall lights - 1 melted the cover and was too hot to turn off without a cloth to protect my hand. I made you aware of this at the time.
Bedroom 2 has a roof window with no safety catch. This window is positioned directly adjacent to where my daughter would have been sleeping. On sitting up she could have leant and fallen out of the window. With no fans available the only way to cool that room was to have the window open. In the end that room was out of bounds to the children as too unsafe. They slept on a friends mattress in the lounge room.
The towels provided at extra cost were not a suitable size for an adult, and the quality is incredibly poor. We purchased 2 bath size towels in town.
The Washer and dryer (as advertised) did not dry. The clothes line in the garden is very broken, and could not be used.
And for children’s safety the piece of kindling wood used to prop open the 2 bedroom windows is unsafe. So, to have those windows shut in summer made the cottage even hotter.
The temperature exceeded 28 degrees during our visit. I requested a fan. There were none.
There is no sunshade for the garden table. So not able to sit in the garden in shade until the afternoon.
Only 1 key for the property. And this is needed to lock the door and to unlock. With 3 adults staying a 2nd key should be provided. A 2nd key was loaned to us for 1 evening, and I was told to return the key the following morning to the neighbour!

We had a lovely time here. Very well equipped and very clean, with a lovely garden too. Parking on the road opposite was no problem at all. Very quiet - just dogwalkers going past occasionally on the very nice walk down to the harbour in Lower Fishguard. We were a group of four adults for most of the week, and when there were five of us for a couple of nights, the bunk beds were plenty big enough. All the arrangements with the owners went like clockwork. Recommended!

We had a highly enjoyable stay in this charming cottage. It was nicely located for scenic walks and short drives to many interesting places in Pembrokeshire. The property is beautiful, highly comfortable and has a lot of historic charm. We wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Sehr charmantes Ferienhaus

Enjoyed the garden and bird feeders. Found the cottage quite dark but this was because it was done up in line with the period of the property.

Wonderful
What a delight to be able to stay in a beautifully restored cottage, full of character, but so close to so many wonderful walks and places of interest. The owners could not have been more welcoming and helpful.

Having a 15 month old with us we did have to put a few ornaments, fireside tools etc out of reach of inquisitive hands! The cottage is quirky and the orchard garden was a lovely surprise. The beds were very comfortable and had a well equipped kitchen. The wash tub was a bit temperamental though.
The cottage is on a steep hill leading from the town to the harbour, a good cardio vascular workout in both directions!
A great base to explore Fishguard and the surrounding area.
Thank you for the loan of you cottage for the week

Rachael

Nice base to explore Pembrokeshire from. We had a couple of sunny days at Whitesands and Cwm yr eglwys beaches. And the hills were lovely to explore too. Great bookshop round the corner from the Slade. Cottage comfortable (if a little dark as many cottages are)and we even used the fire on one particularly rainy day! Beds comfortable too. Lovely garden with roses out when we came in August.

The perfect cottage
I have never been made more welcome then by the owners of the cottage. The place itself was everything and more that you could want from a two hundred year old cottage. A perfect balance of old and functional modern. Beautifully comfy and cosy.

This is a compact and beautiful cottage fitted out with great care in an authentic style. Great as a cosy getaway but very well located in relation to local shops and dining out/ takeaway options, all within easy walking distance. A great base for exploring this part of Pembrokeshire, which is just what we did.

Pretty cottage
Such a pretty and characterful cottage, carefully restored in keeping with its history, while having modern comforts. Handy location for the town centre and for the lower town. Every evening we took a stroll down to the picturesque lower town harbour, after days out along the beautiful coast of Pembrokeshire. Lovely to have the spacious gardens too. Warm hosts in Roger and Margaret who checked all was well.

A Hidden Gem
Very helpful and kind owners. An amazing property with history as well as the renovation history. Lovely walks. We were really lucky with the weather.
The property and catering facilities were the best we have stayed in. There was everything you could think of included in this property. The property had been renovated to a fantastic standard. I loved the converted gas lamps. You have a beautiful holiday home.
