Located in Jan Thiel, this charming villa for R 2,380 per night is a great choice for your next break. Villa Pura Vida is a new detached villa with a private pool in the neighbourhood Brakkeput Abou nearby the famous Spanish Water and prestigious areas of 'Jan Sofat' and 'Jan Thiel', situated close to historic town of Willemstad, beaches (Jan Thiel and Papagayo), shopping, sailing, diving, surfing and fine dining. We offer a one story detached villa with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, two porches, spacious living room, dining room and open kitchen and bar. Fully equipped and very comfortable. Very affordable and very child-friendly. Your children can play 'on the street' without worries. Spacious and cool: The villa is built a spacious lot and has very generous surfaces for the available rooms and terraces. It has a floor plan of about 200 m2 (2200 sq feet) and therefore offers a lot of space not very commonly found in holiday homes. From the front porch you enter the living room of the villa. Cathedral ceilings offer a spacious effect and the living room appears even larger than it already is. Hot air will disappear to make room for the gentle blowing tradewind which is always there and will make your stay a very comfortable one. The trade wind will leave through the rear end of the villa where there is another covered terrace and this terrace has a open connection to the kitchen by use of a cosy bar. Relaxing with a view: At your arrival you will find that the large and impressive front porch will attract your attention immediately. It is completely covered and offers, amongst other furniture, a great lounge bed to make your stay outside comfortable and relaxing. And there is always the view. The view form the front is to the old and historic (and completely renovated) mansion 'Rust en Vrede' (which is Dutch for Peace and Tranquility) surrounded by its plantation. Looking a bit to the right you will see the sailing ships on the Spanish Waters and there is always the spectacular view to Table Mountain. The villa is surrounded by a tropical garden and two terraces: one in the back of the villa and a large one (covered, on Curaçao called a 'porch') in the front. You will always find a sunny or shady place to stay.

Heerlijk huis!
Ruim huis, praktisch ingedeeld, compleet ingericht. Heerlijk terras (voor) en prima ruimte (achter). Zwembad om lekker af te koelen. Met andere woorden : een prima plek voor een week met vrienden.

Heerlijke vakantiewoning!
Wat een heerlijke woning! Zowel aan de voorkant als aan de achterkant een terras, waardoor het heerlijk doorwaait en je altijd een fijn plekje hebt om te gaan zitten. Van alle gemakken voorzien. De service was ook echt top! Zeker voor herhaling vatbaar. Wij hebben genoten!

The property is nice but has not been maintained properly as advertised. Wash machine broken, pool has a leak, need paint job, dishwasher was so old not sure worked or how to, no toaster, the big burner on stove kept puffing and turning it off making it very difficult to cook bc only big burner (gas), door for car to enter yard for parking broken, NO ocean view whatsoever. we always rent in curacao, first time disappointed.

Ein fantastisches Haus
Wir haben unseren dreiwöchigen Aufenthalt in diesem Haus sehr genossen. Die veröffentlichten Bilder entsprechen exakt dem Haus. Im Haus befindet sich alles was man braucht. Der ständig durchziehende Wind ist einfach perfekt. Abwicklung mit dem Vermieter und Hauskeeper einfach und unkompliziert. Fragen werden umgehend beantwortet. Mit dem Auto ist man schnell an den Stränden und interessanten Orten. Danke Erik, Nicole und J.L. für diesen schönen, sorgenfreien Urlaub.

Sehr schönes Haus, Auto dringend erforderlich
Das Haus ist wirklich schön und gut ausgestattet. Wir waren mit vier Personen dort und hatten mehr als genügend Platz. Die Kommunikation mit Erik, dem Eigentümer, und auch Nicole, der Ansprechpartnerin vor Ort, war hervorragend.
Leider sind die Strände und auch Restaurants sehr weit entfernt, sodass man immer mind. 20 Minuten Fahrzeit einkalkulieren muss.
Der Pool ist relativ klein, aber zum Abkühlen nach einem Strandtag hat er gelangt. Leider gibt es nur eine Liege am Haus, obwohl es für bis zu 7 Personen ausgewiesen ist.
Was für uns ein bisschen störend, aber nicht durch den Eigentümer verschuldet ist, waren die vielen bellenden Hunde in der Nachbarschaft und die krähenden Hähne, die sich ab 4:00 Uhr morgens meldeten. Das ist Natur, aber sorgte bei uns dennoch für kurze Nächte.
Alles in allem würden wir das Haus aber auf jeden Fall weiterempfehlen.

Un havre de paix.
Nicole était vraiment au petit soin lors de notre séjours . La villa est comme sur la photo mais encore plus belle quand on y est . Tout est parfait à l'intérieur, chambres, salon , mais surtout les extérieur des deux côtés de la villa qui sont top avec la petite piscine qui suffit amplement pour se rafraîchir mais qui est assez profonde ce qui ma surpris. Vous pouvez y aller les yeux fermés sans aucun souci. Merci encore a Nicole pour les conseils de restaurant etc..

Traumhaft
Es war ein Traum. Die Kommunikation vor und während des Urlaubes mit dem Vermieter waren klasse. Bei Ankunft wird man erwartet und es wird einem alles erklärt. Das Haus ist wunderschön und wir hatten zu fünft jede Menge Platz.
ein Vorredner beschwerte sich über Hundegebell! Als gutes gegenmittel empfehlen wir Curacao rum :-) denn wir Abends gemütlich auf der Terrasse getrunken haben. Falls ein Urlaub auf Curacao ansteht empfehle ich " Nehmt dieses Haus"!

The villa was nearly perfect - just as described, large, very clean and relaxing. There were a few glitches throughout our 6 week stay but Shabana (the manager) took care of everything right away and helped with any questions/concerns. The housekeeper was super and cleaned everything! She was always on time and left extra towels and sheets when needed. The location was great, in a neighborhood and close to Jan Thiel and 20 min. from Wilhemstad. Good restaurants were very close and great supermarkets not far. I would recommend this villa to anyone that wanted a relaxing and comfortable stay on Curacao. The pool was just right for dipping and cooling off and the outside spaces were also super - always a breeze! Fantastic and look forward to returning some day.

Geweldige villa van alle gemakken voorzien.
Met 6 personen waaronder 2 kinderen van 13 en 9 jaar, verbleven. Was geweldig. Alles dicht in de buurt. Aanraders; Cas Abou en Porto Mari. Mambo en Jan Thiel wel mooi maar erg decadent, niet het echte Curacao. Zeker ook fruit en vis kopen op de drijvende markt!
Shabana heeft ons prima bijgestaan met raad en daad. Zeker een aanrader voor gezinnen met kinderen! Tip: huurauto is bijna verplicht, anders zie je veel te weinig van het eiland.

Das Haus ist sehr schön,modern und winddurchläßig. Die Einkaufsmöglichkeiten sind ebenfalls sehr gut. Unserer Meinung nach ist diese Insel ein MUSS für jeden. Einfach schön.
Wir haben einfach eine wunderbare Zeit hier verbracht und kommen auf jeden Fall wieder :)
Das einzige was uns doch etwas "abgenervt" hat sind die ständig bellenden Hunde. ... Hunde machen da ganz bestimmt auch aus Sicherheitstechnischen Gründen Sinn, aber Erziehung von Hunden ist da wohl noch ein unbeschriebenes Blatt.
Trotz der bellenden Hunde möchten wir uns für den unvergesslichen Urlaub bedanken.... 3 Wochen sind aber doch zu kurz.

Zoals het er op de foto's uitziet, zo is het in het echt ook; kortom fantastisch! Echt vakantie! Elke week werd ons huis schoongemaakt. Het huis is daarnaast van alle gemakken voorzien, handdoeken, airco in de slaapkamers (ideaal voor snachts)! Het zwembad was ook heerlijk, net als de wind die lekker door het huis waait! Het huis ligt vlakbij caracasbaai en jan thiel! Zest Beach bij jan thiel is een aanrader voor ouders met kinderen! Als je met z'n tweetjes heerlijk wilt eten dan is baoase een aanrader!

It is a very nice house with a beautiful porch where you can sit. There is always wind. The house has 2 bathrooms which is very nice if you are with 6 persons. The swimmingpool is small but with a cocktail sitting in the water very nice. We enjoyed our stay very much. Every week they cleaned the house, it was a real holiday for us!

It is a very nice house with a beautiful porch where you can sit. There is always wind. The house has 2 bathrooms which is very nice if you are with 6 persons. Curacao is very European so do not expect everything to be like Hawaii and we really liked the grocery store in Jan Thiel. We felt safe in Curacao but if you’re the worrying type and want to put on the alarm while you sleep go over the instruction with Inki very well, as the nighttime settings are different. All in all a very relaxing time and the fish bought day of catch from the local fisherman was fantastic.

The house is exactly as pictured, and is lovely. It was difficult to find, even with detailed directions (which probably should be rewritten since street signs are almost nonexistent). The neighborhood consists of new houses, houses being constructed, and empty lots, so visually it is mixed. There are dogs EVERYWHERE, stray and domestic, and they bark constantly. Owners of these dogs do not seem concerned. A rental car is a must since nothing is in walking distance. It takes about 20-30 minutes to reach downtown Punda, longer during rush hour.
Positive aspects of the house include the spaciousness, open floor plan, front and back deck areas, private pool, security and automatic gated driveway. We found the front deck next to the pool to be particularly nice. The bedrooms were spacious and a/c worked well. The kitchen had most necessary appliances and utensils so cooking was easy (a missing blender was soon replaced by the helpful caretaker).
For negative aspects, we noticed the floor was dirty upon arrival, because after using the pool (with slightly damp feet) the living room quickly turned muddy. We mopped the floor ourselves and resolved the issue. Also, we were surprised at how many flies came in the villa, and since there is no a/c in the main living space, you need to open all doors and windows to stay cool. This also brought in flies. At one point, we woke to more than 50 flies on our towels and kitchen counters. I'm not sure how this could be resolved, and it might simply be idiosyncratic to Curacao living, but be prepared. The pool was quite chilly so swims were brief and usually only when the sun was out. The couch had stains and was uncomfortable to sit on.
The last negative about our experience was the electric usage. You are given an allotment for your stay, based on number of days and number of bedrooms. We were told by the caretaker at check-in that if you only use a/c at night, and only do a couple loads of laundry, you won't exceed the allotment. Well, we did just that, and exceeded the allotment by 35 USD. This was all the more surprising since one person in one bedroom left early, so we used even less a/c as a result. The allotment of electricity seemed insufficient if you plan to sleep in comfort, plus you are also paying for the automatic pool and landscape lights, appliances, etc. We weren't energy hogs by any means, and would rather not obsess about electric usage when vacationing, yet we felt we had to do so here.

Upon arrival we were struck by the sheer size and beauty of this property and although there were only two of us, this home can easily accomodate 6 people.
Customer service was excellent, from dealing with the owner via email to the great service provided by the manager.
Guest should realize that a car is a necessity here, as downtown Willemstad is a little ways away. When we arrived our rental was waiting for us and served us beautifully during our 14 days stay.
There are numerous good restauranats around, espescially in the Jan Thiel neighbourhood, which is only 5 min. away. We also liked Il Forno pizzeria, just 2 min. up the road. (take-out available).
The small, unheated pool, attached to the front of the house, was too cool for my liking, but that could have been a result from the rather "cool" and wet weather that had plagued the island before we arrived.
In general we loved the weather on Curacao; the days and nights are almost equaly warm and therefore the very silent air conditioning in the bedrooms was a relief.

The porch is spacious and offers plenty of shade throughout the day. With the ever-present wind it was comfortable to be at home even on the hottest day of the stay. Due to the large sliding door at the front and the open bar in the kitchen at the rear of the house, everything is very fresh and open, we really liked this.
The district in which it is situated, is a quiet residential area with little traffic around.
Rental car is a must, because there is nothing within walking distance to reach. But with the car (anyway recommended to visit the beautifull beaches in Curacao) you can go anywhere with bakery and supermarket quite close (5-10 min drive).
The house is fully equipped (fridge, dishwasher, washing machine, 2 bathrooms). In short, we had a wonderful two weeks.
Moreover, everything was very well organized in terms of organization: pickup / delivery airport, rental car was waiting at home and once per week cleaning and fresh linen + towels.

We have rented this villa for two weeks in August 2011. The website looked good and all our expectations on arrival were only surpassed, what a lovely, bright and spacious villa!
The pool there is not large (as stated on website) but is big enough to cool down regularly or early in the morning for a refreshing "dip" to take. And was also well maintained.
The porch is spacious and offers plenty of shade throughout the day. With the ever-present wind it was comfortable to be at home even on the hottest day of the stay. Due to the large sliding door at the front and the open bar in the kitchen at the rear of the house, everything is very fresh and open, we really liked this.
