The location was unbeatable - 3-4min drive to Beulah and 16min to Frankfort, and right on the lake. If you want to spend your time outside on your own private lakeside retreat - this is the place for you. The home is laid out well and offers plenty of space. We'll note that there are some things that could be improved, such as: - we're fine booking a week stay, but over a week's time on a beach, things get sandy / dirty quickly and I'd expect there to be ample cleaning supplies and things like a nice vacuum cleaner that are supplied to us. We found it to be inadequate in this area, so inquire ahead of time or bring your own. - The grill is just an old charcoal grill that was full of spent coals and very dirty when we arrived. Perhaps the grill can be updated? At minimum - it should be clean for a new arrival. - As is the case in many vrbo's, the kitchen is a hodgepodge of silverware, cooking utensils pots/pans, etc. If you expect a "chef's kitchen" - this is not it. Bring some of your own kitchen if you want to cook something relatively nice/hard. Robin & Greg communicate very well and were readily available, which was wonderful. Overall - this is a great place to stay. May be a bit pricey, but we definitely enjoyed our stay.

The beach was wonderful - a big, long dock for watching sunsets, paddle boards, a canoe, lots of outdoor seating , a tree for shade on the beach, plus a six top dining table with an umbrella.

Great stay
Great stay
We had a great week on Crystal Lake. The property was perfect and the amenities met all of our needs. The owners were very responsive and helpful. We only had minor issues with the smoke alarm going off easily when using the oven, but we developed a routine to clear the air while opening the oven. Thank you for renting your house to us.

Please be aware that the house is actively for sale, I only found out by googling the address after reserving the property. I was assured there would be no issues during our stay but there was a couple that came by to look at the home. The Owner/Rental Manager was very nice at first, even though at 4pm check in the house was not ready and the cleaning lady was still present. Also, false advertising about disinfecting, the company does not exist. The Owner is very agreeable to all requests until after you check in. Example, I informed her my inlaws live on the same lake and would be stopping by - in her words "no problem, guests are allowed". (this is even in her rules) However, I received a phone call the next day claiming I had too many people at the house. My extra guests consisted of my two sister-in laws and their families (both have 4 kids, they stayed a total of 5 hours) She told me the neighbor had pictures. A bigger issue is a neighbor and the owner (lives in the house above the hill) taking pics of us on the property, totally illegal. Be aware that the neighbor does not want the house rented, confirmed by the owner and the neighbor. She complained because we played a provided radio on a Monday afternoon. We apologized and turned off the music as to not have a problem the rest of the week. This made for a stressful week of hushing the kids and not being able to truly enjoy the beach. When I started to ask questions about the property this is when the owner became confrontational. I asked about extra garbage that did not fit into the trash container, to which she replied "your family take it with them. I figured out that you can purchase yellow bags to put the extra garbage in. A family of 10 staying for 1 week, eating breakfast, lunch and dinner could easily produce more garbage than can fit in one container. My biggest complaint is the LACK OF HOT WATER!!! Yes, this 4.5 bathroom house can not accommodate more than 2 showers without running out of hot water! When I asked if there was a trick or an issue with the water heater or something that can be done her reply was "why don't you just space out the use of the hot water", this includes no washing dishes or laundry and still cold showers. After checking out I was contacted about fraudulent charges for $500 with no evidence. VRBO investigated her claims and found them to be false. We were not 20 year olds partying but a family trying to have a nice vacation.

Robin and Gregg were very responsive and helpful. The access to crystal lake was perfect with a small beach and dock. The house is well stocked with canoe, 2 paddle boards and 3 or 4 life vests. Bedroom space and bathroom space was perfect for 8 people. The lake is stunning, clear and has rock and sand bottom. There is an old tennis court with basketball hoop but the court is in bad shape and needs to be resurfaced. We used it for enjoyable hours of pickle ball however. We did have to clean the court up as there were lots of dead branches and debris on it. We had a few issues that were mildly bothersome but fixable and I would still highly recommend this rental despite these issues. First issue was hot water ran out when more than 3-4 people took showers in the same hour. Robin did her best to call plumber snd this seemed to help the issue. Second issue was the debris on the tennis court. Last issue was the smoke alarms are overly sensitive and went off several times without anything actually burning in the kitchen. These issues would not prevent me from recommending the property or renting again from robin as they are easily remedied. My only other suggestion is if you want a boat or jet ski rental reservations are needed many weeks to a month in advance as there is only 1 or 2 businesses that rent and deliver to crystal lake.
