Jonas went out of his way to ensure our dogs would be able to run property off leash. Such a blessing. Beautiful home, beautiful lake. Super nice nextdoor neighbors!

Peaceful, quite area, fenced yard, circle drive. hanging moss swaying in the trees. Boardwalk takes you right off the back deck to the lake behind. Sunrise -be sure and take your morning coffee down to the little boat dock, and come back again in the evening for spectacular sun set. Large screened area on the back deck right out from the kitchen. Wash dishes looking out with view of the lake. Bed is firm and slept very well. Showers are great. owners are quick to respond to inquiries. Decor and furniture updates make the space more cozy and welcoming than when we booked online. Cat Island is 4 minutes around the corner :)

Our family had an amazing vacation! After a very hard year of battling cancer, our family needed to reconnect & unwind. I grew up in the area & brought my family down to see my hometown. Didn’t get a chance to enjoy the firepit due to summer heat but the outdoor pavilion, picnic table & fan w/ lighting, were great for entertaining some old friends & family for dinner. The dock has benches on either side & was a great peaceful spot to just relax & enjoy nature while you feed the fish. My oldest son caught & released his 1st fish ever. The fishing poles & hooks are in the shed. We used the cooler for drinks when we went to the beaches & Springs. The view was beautiful at sunset. The screened in porch entertained many conversations & allowed us a spot away from the insects at dusk. The facilities were amazing & the owners Theresa & Jonas were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this cabin if you are looking for a vacation for quality family time. We had a wonderful time! We made a lot of memories. We will absolutely book again when we are back. Some of our guests asked for the information for a local staycation. If you are looking for a relaxing place with spectacular views & waterfront access, you won't find a better place than Serenity Retreat. I do wish there would have been an option for a peddle boat, a small fishing boat, or canoe so we could have paddled around the lake. Also, a bigger couch for better cuddle time with my kiddos.

I took my 3 kids and one of their friends for a long weekend with plans to go to the nearby natural springs. We enjoyed this lake house as much as we did the springs. The kids fished, we swam, we made s’mores in the fire pit, ate on the enclosed back porch, and watched the sun set and rise on the lake. The place is much prettier than the pictures. It’s clean and roomy, too. I look forward to staying here again when we are in the area.

We stayed in mid June 2023. It was very relaxing and had some pros, but they were outweighted by the cons. Pros: Extremely quiet and peaceful, has private dock with access to large Lake Juniper, has a firepit by the lake with some wood available, has a large, covered pavillion with a picnic table, lights, and a small camping grill. Has a deck and mid sized screen porch. Also has a washer and dryer. Cons: Ants. Ants were everywhere. They were on the porch, porch furniture, dock, every cup or bait container we set down, and even infested our car parked out front. The host left spray but there were way too many to fight off. The yard and porch are in major need of a clean up. You can barely see the water from the porch.The porchis full of clutter (old chairs, cusions, baby items, old carpet rolland more) we were only able to use a section of the porch due to everything on it. The screen door also has a huge gap in it allowing bugs in the porch. It would be very helpful if they cleaned the porch off, fixed the door, and did some major yard and tree work to help with the space, ants, and view of the water. One of the biggest cons was the host popped in on us TWICE. He came on the 1st day ti 'put in an air filter'. He showed up again on our last day to 'take out the trash'. We were very surprised by his unexpected visits. We stay in homes like this regularly in FL and have never had hosts just show up.They were friendly, but they definitely shouldn't have come twice during our stay

This was a great place to relax and unwind after several hot and sandy days at the beach. Caught a huge bass from the dock. Enjoyed the screened in porch. Not too far from Morrison Springs which was a beautiful surprise and awesome place to snorkel. Ants were outside but no problem inside or in the vehicle. Overall positive and relaxing experience.

Lakehouse Perfection! Owners Theresa and Jonas are quick to respond and close by. Defuniak Springs is a quaint little town. Be sure to try the Pub burger at Ed's and the peanut butter milkshake. Highly recommend this rental. Clean, peaceful and safe. Loved feeding the fish and turtles from the dock. Thank you for a memorable vacation. Will be back soon! :)

This is not upscale. It is cozy, quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed our stay. We would have enjoyed it more if we owned a kayak or canoe so we could have paddled around the lake. We didn't fish, either, but it is a good spot for fishing. We drove down to the beautiful Panhandle beaches a couple of times, but mostly stayed put and had a laid back time. There were a spices and basics for cooking, and the kitchen had most of what we needed. Over all, it was very comfortable and relaxing.

This cabin was perfect. It's on a lake with a view. They have everything and anything that you could ask for. It has a screened in back porch which is perfect the night,no mosquitoes,and getting out of the rain. Beds are really comfortable. The whole cabin is really clean. We really enjoyed our stay. There is a little restaurant, Frainns,is really good. Defuniak Springs is a nice little town. But there wasn't hardly anyone around us. Which is perfect. Has a cute lil pavilion with grills. Also has a fan with light under the roof. Came in handy. The whole place is a ten. Our hostess,Theresa, was so nice along with her husband, Jones. You have to rent lil place that is on Serenity ct. We already booked it for next year, that how much we enjoyed it. Oh the beaches are about an hour away. Not too bad

I can only compare the experience to the same as the annual opening of a hunting cabin. While the main home was clean the outdoor areas were dusty, dirty in an unusable state without cleaing. The posted pics of the screened in porch looked clean and in order. While in reality it was dirty and had lawn chairs and yard games in a pile at the end of the porch, they were dirty and in disrepair. The pavilion area was in even worse condition with grease and grime on the picnic table. Nice fire pit, no usable seating. In the home furnishing were sparse and had the garage sale vibe. Kitchen lacked dinnerware and cookware to fix a decent meal, the items present looked to be of the salvage variety. We cut our stay short by two weeks as we had plans for visitor and could not ask our guests to endure the accommodations. We moved to a property in Destin, and managed to save the Florida portion of our snowbird trip.

The owners gave excellent directions! Check in was a breeze. It was extremely cold while we were there and the owner came and checked on the water and introduced himself and checked to see if we needed anything. We enjoyed the property even with the cold. Check out instructions were very easy and it was very reasonably priced. It was also very clean! We are definitely planning a return trip!

The cabin is perfect for a peaceful get-away from the hustle and bustle. The property is beautiful with lovely trees hanging with moss. We enjoyed fishing off the dock and relaxing on the porch. Several natural springs are nearby. We will be back. The hosts are great to work with. Thank you for your hospitality!

We were on the 2nd leg of a two week road trip from Michigan, and this leg was to be more relaxing. It definitely was! We had everything we could think of at our disposal and it truly felt like home. The hosts are excellent communicators and the property was very clean. Very private and yet still not far away from things to do. We will definitely stay again if we get the chance to be in that area! Thanks again!

This place is awesome! There is plenty of room and it is situated in a quite lakeside neighborhood. The house was clean, there were ample cooking supplies in a roomy kitchen. The washer and dryer worked great. The dock was the perfect place to sneak down and wet a line. There are plenty of catfish and bass in the lake. My teenagers loved the place. The restaurant down the road is awesome if you choose not to cook

We come here every year when we visit the North Florida area. Close to all the good places like beaches, restaurants, springs. Nice to retreat back to Serenity and enjoy the quiet lake and absolutely beautiful back yard with moss covered shade trees. Perfect in all ways. House is always clean and the ac works super well!! We will come back again and again .

My husband and I stayed here for our 17th Anniversary and it was wonderful! It was so relaxing to sit on the screened porch or pavilion area and just listen to nature and watch the water. Theresa was a wonderful hostess and gave us a list of local favorite restaurants. The home was very comfortable and cozy. It felt like home away from home. Beautiful area off the beaten path but only about 15 minutes to grocery stores and little shopping area. We will definitely be back soon!

Beautiful screened in porch. Great Lake view but unless you are in shape do t take the walk down the steps. It’s beautiful but a long way back. Best to learn the way in and out during daylight hours as the house is off the road so a little hard to find. Once we knew the way it was easy very clean and had all the comforts of home
