The cottage by the lake is a quaint little cabin along a peaceful serene lake with a wonderful view. Definitely not the biggest or fanciest place but a wonderful quiet place surrounded by the beauty of Maine. Far enough away from the tourist traps of Bar Harbor and Acadia National Forest but yet close enough to go should you desire to be with people (yuck!)
Nice accommodations with comfortable furnishings. Everything worked as expected with no issues. The communication with the owner was outstanding, fast and accurate. We would stay again.

We enjoyed our stay here. We had some difficulty finding it when we got there because it's a bit tricky to find in the dark, but the owner answered our call right away and helped us find it. She noted that the house number is posted on a tree, but it is hard to see if you don't know where to look. The place was spotless, super clean. The description describes two bedrooms, but they are more of divided spaces instead of rooms. There are solid walls and doors, but no ceilings in the separate rooms with the exception of the bathroom. It looks like the cabin was just one space and walls were added. So, everyone can hear everything that is said. Not a big deal for us and we would stay there again. The cabin does have a small window air conditioner, but I don't know how well it works. We were gone during the day so we didn't turn it on. When we would get back in the evening, it was stuffy in the cabin, but we opened all of the windows and everything cools off quickly. We used the AC as more of a fan because my husband and son like a fan noise to sleep. The beds were very comfortable, but the pull-out wasn't as comfortable. My son used a comforter as extra cushion. There were plenty of dishes. A grill was available, but we didn't use it. We had a great time using the canoe to paddle around the lake. We would stay here again.

No smoke alarm or co detector ! The cabin felt it was tilting especially in the bathroom Mold on the bathroom ceiling. Furniture and beds uncomfortable lots of cobwebs and dog hair We left early! Too rustic for me!

Very charming cottage on the water in a nice quiet area. Beautiful star gazing on the private pier. While we did not stay much during the day, there was a Very nice canoe and grill for our use. Nice view of the lake from inside the cabin. It was only two of us so it was perfect. More than 4 would find challenges with the small bathroom, two small bedrooms, and lack of closet/storage. Nice new appliances and we’ll supplied kitchen.

It was a nice location. The boat on the lake was a great plus. The cottage was cute, the pull out sofa in the living room was a little uncomfortable. But we made it work.

The cabin is in a beautiful location. We were there for an event so really only needed it for sleeping. As the 2 rooms have no ceiling (true cabin style) there is less than no privacy. It could use bedside tables and lamps and a few more plates. Completely adequate and the canoe was great to have. Overall, really nice for what we needed it for. Thank you for our stay.

This little cabin was so lovely. It really is close enough to jump in the water ( if you have strong legs). The lake was clear and lovely. My family used the canoe daily to explore the lake, and even visited the little islands in the middle of the lake! 30 or 40 minutes to Acadia, but this little cabin was worth it! It is no frills. You can imagine that someone’s grandpa built it in the 50s. My only critique would be that it needs 2 more plates in the kitchen since it sleeps 6. Other than that, it was perfect. We liked it so much that we asked to stay an additional night. Excellent!

We would recommend this charming cabin to anyone looking for a beautiful, quiet vacation. The cabin was spotless, the neighborhood wonderful and the lake crystal clear and beautiful. The cabin is excellent for 2 to 4 people. Such a gorgeous setting! The only reason it does not get total five stars is because it needs a bit more dishes, some info about the area and has a very tiny deck- but with an excellent view. (I could not figure out how to give 4.5 stars, that should be the score not 4.0) Thoughtful stocking of the cabin with an Unusual amount of spices, very nice amount of towels and items needed to be comfortable with and to cook and clean up with.. Adequate pots, pans, sheets, blankets and heating was supplied. No need to bring anything with you but your clothing and kayak! The canoe provided was a good size. The beds were extremely comfortable! We were looking for rustic setting so it was perfect for us. The owner is very quick to answer questions. We had a really enjoyable stay and loved it there.

What a cute little cottage, we truly enjoyed our stay, the cabin had most everything we needed while we day-tripped around northern Maine and the coast. The fall colours were at their peak.
You can’t beat the stunning outlook over Branch Lake, I could wake up to that everyday!
The two full beds were comfortable, the pull out not so much however we made it work.
The only thing they could add would be some small side tables in the bedrooms and maybe two more comfy chairs in the lounge area, as it really only seats 4.
We also weathered strong winds during a storm, we were expecting some damage that night however all was fine. The parking definitely is tight to turn around in but not much you can do about that!
Thank you for being a great host and keeping your cute little cabin in good shape.

This property has all that you need to relax at a lake. The beds are comfortable. Some might find “full size” to be a bit small be we were fine. So many places have lousy beds, so I was grateful these beds were comfortable and supportive. While an old review complained about low water pressure in the shower, it was typical of a modern shower head that helps prevent wasting water. I have long hair and it was fine for me. This camp has excellent views down much of Branch Lake. The small deck on the side is perfect to sit on and enjoy the lake. There are 6 loons on the lake (saw them all together) and it’s wonderful to listen to them. The lake water is clear, as Branch Lake is the drinking supply for Ellsworth. We brought our own Kayaks and greatly enjoyed exploring the lake shore. There is a large rock about 500 feet out from the camp which is perfect to swim from. The TV is a Roku TV, which pleased my 12 year old son greatly. The refrigerator and stove worked well and are full sized. The camp is not insulated and heats up considerably on summer days. The small AC unit is insufficient to the task, even when the camp is kept closed up for days. We brought some fans and that helped with the heat. The camp location is within 45 minutes of Acadia NP and we fount is easy to travel there for some hiking. Our concern was the gas grill. The bottom is nearly completely rotted out. This results in hot grease dripping directly onto the propane tank and lines. We felt this was a significant fire hazard and there were no fire extinguishers to be found. The parking area is small and bound by trees. It is challenging to maneuver a larger vehicle in this space. The neighbors were all pleasant to us. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider returning.

We enjoyed our three night stay, the cabin was clean and had the simple necessities when coming back after a long day of hiking. We enjoyed swimming and canoeing in the lake. Drive to the national park and Bar Harbor took about 45 minutes to an hour depending on your destination and traffic. We choose this cabin for it’s beautiful lake view and just a laid back atmosphere.

We had a lovely 5-day stay in this cottage. Although there were residents at all the neighboring cottages, the area was very quiet. The water was cool and clean for swimming. Potential renters should know this rental is a one-room cottage with privacy walls between bedrooms. So, it is best if everyone in your group follows a fairly similar sleep schedule as it is hard not to wake each other up.

Exactly what my husband and I were looking for to celebrate our 1st anniversary! 45 minutes from Bar Harbor and Acadia. Also, the dock is perfect for if you want to rent a boat or use the provided canoe. Thank you for a wonderful weekend!

We were looking for a nice, quiet place where we could sneak away from city life and enjoy nature. We usually camp, but decided to splurge on a cabin for this trip, and I'm glad we did. The cabin itself is simple, rustic, and had all the basics we needed.
Best of all was the location - walking out the back door to the most gorgeous view of Branch Lake was amazing. The water was crystal clear, and the host allows you to use their very nice canoe to explore the lake - I can't recommend it enough!! We saw loons, beavers, fish, herons, and all kinds of beautiful wildlife. In the mornings we sipped coffee on the shore and basked in the rising sun while the mists rose off the glassy smooth water. In the evenings we opened all the windows to let in the lake breeze and fell asleep to the beautiful calls of the loons. We rarely heard any human noise, only saw one speed boat in the far distance the whole stay, and were just amazed at the peacefulness and silence we were able to enjoy.
It was about a 40 min drive to Acadia, close enough to drive but far enough to avoid the crowds. There were 2 full sized beds with clean, new linens on them, and some towels in the bathroom as well. The kitchen had all the tools you need to cook your own meals, a full sized fridge, and a washer/dryer. There is also a grill outside and a picnic table. We never interacted with the host but I'm sure she is a lovely person! The key was in a lock box on the door, and there were some simple instructions for our stay posted on the fridge. Easy peasy.
We very much enjoyed our stay at this property and will gladly come back some day.
