About this house rental

If the dates are showing not blocked - these dates are available and we are accepting bookings. One of the few brick Georgians in Columbia County, the Samuel Wilbur estate is a stately home of outstanding beauty and balance. Huge original barns, bluestone patios, a nearby pond and stream outside give an instant country feel. The 1 bedroom located on the estate has its own private entrance, eat-in kitchen, full bath and living room. The apartment’s original floors have over a century of patina; exposed beams and bricks lend interest to the apartment’s ceilings and walls. The kitchen has been updated with al modern conveniences. The bath has been reclaimed, with modern tile and an amazing large walk-in glass shower. A home that offers the best of old and new in a space that is stylish and comfortable for 2 guests (or a couple w/child). No parties or events allowed. No outside noise after 10 pm. Would definitely come back. Had so much privacy. Ann was very friendly and helpful. A heated outdoor pool in the Berkshires? What’s not to love! Super comfortable bedroom.

This charming one-bedroom in Old Chatham was very comfortable and charming. The layout and furnishings were great, and the kitchen and bath were up to date and perfect for what I needed. I was there during a frigid snowstorm and the snow removal was done efficiently. The house was cozy, but cool in places. The hosts provided space heaters there for just such a minus zero temperature weekend! The location is in the country, but it has a restaurant next door and a lovely former railroad path just two blocks away. The hosts are warm and friendly and very responsive, and I felt very taken care of. I would be happy to return!

Owner was very responsive. Accommodations were as advertised. Location was good. It is not the only rental unit and it was a tad busier than I expected. But not noisy and other guests respectful. I would rent here again and overall it was a pleasant experience. A few minor issues which Ann resolved for us. Happy overall.

We loved our one-month stay at Ann and Francois’s South Wing one-bedroom apartment. They have renovated an historical building and left the attractive elements of the old building - the exposed beams, the broad-plank, wood floors - while incorporating modern conveniences siuch as a rain shower and a convection oven. The kitchen is well-outfitted and the overall apartment is spacious for this NYC couple and our dog. Ann and Francois were welcoming yet gave us our space, and responded immediately to any questions. We loved the area. Old Chatham is charming little village with an excellent Country Store (of all things, they have amazing bagels!!) and a wonderful restaurant/ pub named Jackson’s. Both are located a snowball’s throw away from the apartment’s front door. Columbia County has ten conservation areas that are worthy of a visit, with 3-5 mile hikes that were just our speed. Particularly noteworthy was the High Falls Conservation Area. There is also a rail trail located across the street, along Depot Lane, that became our morning walk every day. Ask Ann about it, I am sure that she will show you where it is, as she did for us. This was not only a winter vacation for us, but also respite from the intensity of covid in NYC. We both have been working from home, so good wifi was imperative. The signal in this Old Chatham apartment was strong and supported Zoom meetings for both of us. We plan to return. Thanks Ann and Francois!
