The lister 'forgot' to tell us that she changed the house we were to stay in, due to a plumbing issue in the one we booked. We booked the original for a specific reason. Then, the washer/dryer weren't working in the 'new' house, and when we asked for a bit of money back, nothing more was said. However, the house and neighborhood were nice, and the communication was good, but again, it wasn't the house we wanted, and we definitely wanted to be able to do laundry, or be compensated for the lack of being able to do so. So, FYI, from what I can tell from this picture, this is the house we did NOT stay in.

Fellow travelers, stay here if you want to be able to see the scenic rail yard right next door to you, need a picture of the 8 mile road sign, enjoy balloons and streamers decorating walls, lots of post it notes in random places with all of the odd rules of the house, watering plants, hearing gunshots at 3 am, having the basement utility sink back up with sewer water because people showered and then being accused of "destroying" a comforter that was obviously ruined in a dryer. I could have dealt with all of the other things but the fact that 181 dollars was kept out of the hefty 599 dollar damage deposit that you have to pay up front put me over the edge. My assumption is that there are few folks that will get out of here without being taxed some extra money out of your security deposit. I've stayed in several vacation rentals and pride myself on being a responsible tenant that takes care of the property I'm staying in. Despite all of the issues with the home I feel myself and the other guests went above and beyond to keep the house clean and make turning it for another guest as easy as possible for the owner. Turns out we didn't make it out of the sketch neighborhood without getting robbed after all. Honestly folks, do yourself a favor and avoid this property.

We rented a 5 bed property in a location convenient to our requirements. We arrived to a different 3 bed property plus a bed in an unfinished musty basement. The owner informs us this is a better property closer to downtown, (ie the one we ended up staying at was on a busy road opposite the local high school with ongoing construction). The property is advertised as clean, but I have photos showing the yuckiness which I can hopefully upload to vrbo. We did not complain to the owner - we had a crazy busy schedule in Detroit and when we were done checked out two days early. We texted the owner that we had vacated the property and she asked if everything was okay. We said we would have preferred the property we had reserved and paid for, and from there she became increasingly antagonistic. Later we received a text claiming we had 'damaged' a comforter. She sent us a photo of a stain which was not caused by us, and might not even have been a comforter in the house we occupied. All the furnishings in the house we occupied were shabby (e.g. we dared not sit on the very wobbly dining chairs). We received an email saying a large sum was deducted from our security deposit - up to this point I had been willing to walk away from this awful situation two days down on rental. I have filed an official complaint with vrbo - I will not likely get my money back, but I might at least save another renter suffering a similar situation with this person who apparently has a number of properties in the area.
