We had a super lovely stay - the location was great and the hotel itself was a lot of fun!

Loved our room - we had a great sitting area with a vinyl player which made our stay super fun! The staff were lovely :)

Blissful, coastal and close enough to the action and remote enough feel regenerative.

My partner and I loved the coffee service to our rooms. Loved the local blend that they served. The rooms are great especially if you choose one that is partially viewing the ocean. The lounge/lobby area feels homey and is a coastal dream. Eric, Brendan and Nick were really friendly and helpful and made you feel very welcome. There was a problem with our heater and they all were very helpful in trying to fix it and eventually helped shift our room.

The daytime staff wasn’t that friendly or helpful. There was a bit of confusion when we checked in about the reservation name and the person at the front desk person was not very helpful. Also, we had a bill issue and it seemed like there was a lot of confusion and different understanding of what the hold charge actually should be.

Truly special stay, from the hotel design to the staff to the location. Loved everything!

Loved everything. Small boutique hotel. Quiet, quaint, super comfortable. Staff are all amazing. Location is perfect - on a quiet street, just a block away from a great little beach cove, and 15 min walk to town. Really loved everything about our stay.

not child friendly but loud people and drunk people friendly

The property is beautiful. Rooms are nicely done. However, when we booked, we did not realize that this is not kid friendly. I mentioned it to the front desk as soon as I realized the error. I was told it would be OK. But it wasn’t. Felt very uncomfortable. And for that reason, I wouldn’t go back. Even without my daughter.

child policy. my daughter is seven but very mature and well behaved. There is a giant dog there that was welcome. People at the bar who were loud and intoxicated. But, that’s all fine. My well behaved daughter is an issue. I didn’t sit well with me.

Exceptional

Delightful boutique hotel close to town, but far enough away. Lovely views from our room, Room 21, La Vue. Breakfast was delicious, a few good choices. Coffee delivered to your room was great. Short walk to the beach, Shaw’s Cove. Great walk in to the main town along Cliff Road, off the main highway.

Amazing couples getaway

very comfy, cozy and romantic stay. the room is beautiful and cozy. bed was comfy. property is beautiful and relaxing. ocean view and great sunset to enjoy during happy hour. breakfast (included) is delicious and the bar makes amazing drinks. even a welcome drink after check in. morning coffee delivered to your room. shaw’s cove is a 2 min walk down the road. every detail is so thoughtful. staff is very helpful and kind as well. can’t wait to return!

Barely any lighting in our room? basically just the bathroom and then very very dim lighting in room area. didn’t make or break the experience though. will be back.

Excellent experience… Was the most perfect weekend getaway location!

The property was gorgeous… It felt like home… Cozy, comfortable, inviting, and just perfect for our weekend getaway! We stayed in the La Vue room, and it was perfection! We are avid, vinyl collectors, so the fact that each and every room has a record player and an amazing selection of vinyl to choose from! This will definitely be our bimonthly weekend getaway spot! The staff was phenomenal…Nick, the bartender made the absolutely most delicious cocktail… “The Greeter”! our experience was exceptional! We did not want to leave!!

Hotel Joaquin is the perfect place to stay in Laguna Beach!

My daughter and I stayed here for 3 nights during our 2 week California road trip and it was by far and away our favourite hotel! The atmosphere was very chilled and the design of both the public areas and our room was so cool. Every detail had been considered and it felt so special and relaxing to stay there. Our room was lovely and was so clean and comfortable; the staff were fantastic, so welcoming and helpful, and the breakfasts were delicious! The location was excellent too as it was not right in the most busy part of town but was just a short stroll in to the restaurants and bars along a pretty path overlooking the ocean. We both agreed that we want to come back to stay here again - and there's no greater praise than that! Just perfect!

A perfect couples getaway!

My husband and I had a wonderful time at Hotel Joaquin! Our room was beautiful, clean, and very quiet. The hotel amenities were wonderful, the food and drinks were fantastic and the location was unbeatable!

VERY EXPENSIVE for what you get. Water view is far away. Watch out for hidden fees.

We liked the location and the grounds were nice. We appreciated the "all inclusive" breakfast until we found out about the $60 resort fee.

We stayed three nights and paid $3000. There were several hidden charges, such as resort fee etc. The room we upgraded to for the view was a converted loft with low ceiling and was very small. The sliding pocket doors to the bathroom did not slide and got stuck. It was rundown. For this money we could have stayed at the Ritz Carlton.

The staff! And the view, the nice and well decorated rooms. Cute pool area. 2 min walk to the beach.

Food was just ok and pricey for what you’ll get. You’ll pay the convenience.

Really awesome experience

We loved the small boutique feeling of the hotel and the amazing service - this wasn't just a hotel it was an experience! The complementary lunch by the pool was delicious, healthy and a lovely surprise after just getting in from the airport. Jesse, the chef, is really talented, we loved all our meals including dinner the last night. I usually stay away from highly chlorinated public pools, choosing the ocean instead, but the salt pool was wonderful. The location of the hotel was ideal - close to hiking trails, the village, the beach and lovely neighborhoods for walking. All in all a great time!

The room was a bit on the small size but nothing you can do about that! The service and amenities made up for it.
