Review for Indian Art Villa, Varkala:
I was genuinely impressed by the beautiful wall paintings that adorned the premises. These artworks offered a touch of culture and sophistication that promised an enriching experience.
Review for Indian Art Villa, Varkala:
I'm sorry to say, but our stay at Indian Art Villa in Varkala was a deeply disappointing experience. Right from the onset, things were far from ideal. We arrived at around 4 PM and were met with a vacant reception. No welcoming faces, no guidance - it took three phone calls to the owner before we could finally settle into our room.
Navigating through the narrow lanes with our car was a challenge in itself, and to our surprise, there wasn't a single staff member on-site to assist us. This lack of basic hospitality is not something you expect when you're paying for a stay.
The room's bathroom was another letdown. It's baffling that in a property that charges a premium rate, they missed out on providing something as fundamental as a lock on the bathroom door.
To top it off, while one might expect proximity to the beach given its location in Varkala, the beach is a good 1 km away, making it not as accessible as one would hope.
In summary, Indian Art Villa failed to deliver on multiple fronts and did not provide value for the money we spent. I'm afraid I cannot recommend this homestay to anyone looking for a comfortable and hassle-free stay in Varkala.

AC, swinging chairs, the white doggo and the host rafi who was incredibly helpful
Slightly low water pressure in the shower and a few plants that were dead in the lobby and on the stair case

Location is good and so Was the room.
Management system does not work and I was asked to move during my stay even though my reservation was confirmed. It happaned to one more person during my stay. So overall it is hard for me to recommend this place as you will never know what is going to happen.

Rafi is a great great host, from the ambience to home like feel to spacious rooms, everything was perfect. The bestttt place to stay in Varkala.
There's nothing!

No one there for a check in or check out.
No English. No communication possible!
I had to wait forever.
There is a large dog that even blocks the entrance at times.
Of course there is a lot of barking.
My reservation get's cancelled by the property without any reason!

I had a great time during stay here , Rafi is friendly and welcoming , u can expect almost everything near the place like restaurants shops and it’s only 4 mins walkable distance to the beach. it’s one of the best place in varkala to stay with good ambience

The room is spacious and clean. The homestay is tastefully decorated. The owner was friendly and helped me with almost everything as I was travelling solo. There is a cute pet over there. The kitchen was usable so it was a great help for me. Great service with equally good hospitality. This homestay is very near to the Black Beach Thiruvambadi.
I wish there was geyser.

unfortunately the hospitality here was subpar :( i arrived very late and was told i needed to stay in another place which turned out to be unclean, unprepared and had a weird overall vibe. had to check out after a few hrs of sleep to find out i had to wait for my actual room to be ready another few hrs. no bed sheets were avail so had to sleep under my towel until my last night, which also happened to be a night where a party was held and where every 3 minutes a balloon popped … well into the next day. lol. i usually give really short and raving reviews, but this experience simply did not feel nice as a solo female traveler & i stayed at a few other great places in Varkala so just wanted to put that option out there.

The manager tried to scam us at the end of the stay, displaying the business interface of Booking app and saying that we have to pay the commission he is paying to Booking (on top of the room fare and the taxes).
On top of that, he is not polite and doesn't say hello and thank you in his messages.
For animal lovers, you need to know that a dog is attached in the garden, barking and crying in the evening. Fishes are kept in small glass tanks and birds in a cage.
Otherwise, room and location are correct.

Great location and staff was really friendly and welcoming. Easy walk to Black Beach and North Cliff with many great restaurants close by.
We had booked for three and booking.com description made it sound like there were enough beds but we ended up having to put a mattress on the floor.

The hosts are incredibly kind, caring, attentive, full of hospitality. It was my first time in India, they were my starting point and I couldn't have asked for a better welcome. They picked me up at the airport at 1am, made sure I had everything I needed. I got sick during the trip and they took care of me, accompanied me to the hospital... Thank you Annie and Rafi, for everything. They always make sure you don't miss anything, they take care of you if nothing else. The place is peaceful, cosy, well decorated and perfectly located! THANK YOU. Go there with your eyes closed.
