Frequently asked questions

What is the price range for rentals in Bergerac?

Vacation rentals in Bergerac have a price range between R 807-R 40,681. The average price for rentals in Bergerac is R 84 per night.

What's the weather like in Bergerac?

The city of Bergerac benefits from temperate weather conditions all year long. The summers are warm, while the winters are cold, but pack an umbrella because there's a lot of rainfall throughout the year.

Arts & culture in Bergerac

One of the last tobacco plantations in Europe was in Bergerac, and the Tobacco Museum dives into the plant’s fascinating history. The Chateau de Monbazillac is now a vineyard that's home to a castle from the 16th Century that’s worth exploring. Last but not least, consider checking out the two statues of Cyrano de Bergerac on Place Pélissière and on Rue de la Mirpe to experience history, art, and culture in one fell swoop.

Where to eat?

The Dordogne Valley is known for the vineyards in Bergerac, the truffle farms in Martel, and the saffron in Carja, so the regional cuisine consists of primarily locally-sourced ingredients. Rocamadour, a creamy cheese made from goat’s milk, is also produced in the area. You can relish traditional French food at Le Bistro du Coin or order some affordably priced culinary offerings at Empreinte. And for mouth-watering pizza, stop by Sarl Gigino.

What to do?

Consider checking out the local market in the village square while you're in town to scoop up regional produce and hand-made goods. Additionally, take some time to explore Bergerac’s Old Town, which slopes down to the river and contains half-timbered houses dating back to the 14th Century. The region of Bergerac is the appellation of origin for over a dozen different wine varietals, including red and white, so be sure to enjoy some of the 13 locally-produced wines throughout your trip. It's also worth stopping by the Le Cloitre des Recollets — where the region's wine council meets — to understand what makes the area unique.

Where to stay in Bergerac?

One of the best places to stay in Bergerac is right next to the Dordogne River, for obvious reasons. However, the historic Old Town is another great area to look for accommodations, especially if you want to enjoy easy access to the beautiful boutiques, historic sights, and excellent eateries.
