It's never easy to get away for a family of 5 with a dog but this was such a wonderful escape for all of us that I wouldn't hesitate to go back again before ski season's over! Everything, down to the last detail, (including a bag of dog treats for our dog!) was thought of! The house was beyond adorable as well as immaculate! I love not having to worry about showing up after a long drive and finding a less than clean hotel room. This house was big enough for all of us to have our own space but organized in a way to let us enjoy all of our meals and relaxation time together. There was no detail or amenity left out in order to make our time as pleasurable as possible. Would not hesitate to recommend this wonderful property and host to anyone visiting this beautiful area! Oct 2019What a wonderful home! For once, the internet doesn’t do it justice as it is even better then we expected! Melissa is just the most gracious and thoughtful host you will ever have. So many special touches that she prepared for us too many to name.
The home is just adorable and so comfortable from the sofas and chairs to mattresses and bedding and plenty of towels, everything was immaculate and with our comfort in mind. Beautiful older home in a well maintained neighborhood that you will enjoy walking in. Nothing cookie cutter about it just charm.
We enjoyed spending time at Rib Mountain and took the ski lift up to the top to take advantage f the beautiful fall colors. It was spectacular!
The kitchen had absolutely everything you could imagine to prepare and enjoy meals. I just can’t say enough. Stop searching and just book this one! Leer más

This is only the second time I have booked a home like this and I would recommend it to anyone! We had 9 people for two of the 4 nights and we had ample room! Feb 2021We could not have been happier with Melissa and this wonderful property. It had everything we needed and more. It was spacious, clean and very comfortable. There were loads of staples in the kitchen that made preparing breakfast and dinner easy.
Melissa was extremely kind and helpful. She went above and beyond the call of duty with retrieving an earing that accidentally fell down the drain. She sent the earing and a forgotten iPad back to us the next business day.
We had a great time skiing at Granite Peak and hanging out in the house playing games after dinner.
I can not underscore enough Melissa's kindness. She made every effort to make our stay as pleasant as possible.

Mar 2022Walked into the rental house and felt immediately at home! It was so clean and welcoming! So much attention to detail provided by Melissa! There were 6 of us…parents, grandparents, and 2 little ones ages 3 and 1. The house was much larger than we thought it might be and everyone had their own space to relax, and unwind! Our grand daughter immediately ran to the little kid’s table which had an array of new color books, and crayons. She wondered how the nice people knew she LOVED Frozen! Such a nice touch!
The house was not far from Granite Peak, which was our reason for the vacation. We were not disappointed in one thing! Our needs were fully met and we would love to stay here again! Leer más

Jan 2020This was the perfect spot for a cozy weekend girl's getaway! From the time Melissa greeted us at the door to get us acquainted with the house to the time we had to (sadly) check out, we felt right at home and very comfortable. The house is much more spacious than we imagined. For a home built in the 1920's, it is very well maintained and has so many great features that you can only find in an older home - old hardwood floors, great tile in the bathrooms, beautiful woodwork throughout. The living room had plenty of comfy seating for all four of us to sprawl out and relax. All four bedrooms are nice sized, three of them have televisions, they are all tastefully decorated, and the beds offered a great nights sleep! We loved having Netflix - perfect for staying in on a cold night, ordering out for pizza, and watching a couple fun movies. Melissa's attention to detail was certainly evident in the amenities she left for us - plenty of breakfast items, milk in the fridge, two bottles of wine, coffee, tea and hot chocolate, cookies, and a bowl of chocolates on the dining room table next to a bouquet of fresh flowers. And if you forgot to pack shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush/toothpaste, soap, or a hairdryer - no worries! - the bathrooms were stocked. Melissa checked in with us on our first full day in Wausau via a message on VRBO just to check to make sure that all was going well and to let us know to call her if any questions or concerns. It was so nice to know that we had a contact nearby should any issues arise. It was fun exploring Wausau, even though we didn't venture too far from the house. We went to Monk Botanical Garden on Friday night for an evening luminary snowshoe/hike, which was great fun. We spent the day on Saturday exploring the shops downtown and had a great lunch at The Mint. Janke Bookstore is a must for shoppers downtown and we all really enjoyed Evolutions in Design for unique gifts and home decor. We sadly missed the last tour of the day at the Yawkey House but were able to sneak in a visit to the museum across the street from the house. Jul 2022This property was even better than expected! The host thought of everything from dog treats to a cute 4th of July cake with wine. Not to mention she checked in on us to make sure our stay was going well and to see if there was anything more she could do to make it better. There were plenty of clean linens, toiletries, etc. The inside of the house is spacious and the original wood throughout is gorgeous. We spent most of our time outside in the fenced in yard with our dogs playing yard games which was nice. This was a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the twin cities. There were also a lot of great places to eat as well but too many to try in just one long weekend. We would love to come back here again! Leer más

Mar 2020The reviews I read online did not exagerate how happy we would be with this home away from home. This 100-year-old property was full of charm and space. It was updated where it needed to be and nostalgic where it could be. We mid-fifties parents were in Wausau with a group of four twenty-somethings for a ski weekend. When the millenials arrived, their jaws dropped at the beauty of the accommodations. The dining room and living were large, yet very cozy. All three of the individual bedrooms were big with comfortable queen beds--not fulls. The "dorm" had comfy twin beds, where three (a potential for four, I believe) of us slept. We loved not having pull-out sofabeds. They provided tons of linens, towels, kitchen accessories galore, spices, condiments, even breakfast and special treats. You didn't have to worry about forgetting any toiletries, cleaning and storage supplies, or games at home. They had you covered with plenty of extras to use. Although our dog did not end up accompanying us, Melissa had her covered, too, with dog bowls, treats, and towels for her wet paws. With that kind of attention to detail, you can trust that this home was very clean! Most people don't take care of guests that they know this well, let alone strangers. Melissa was an angel to work with. She was so fast with all of her responses to our concerns and questions in the booking process. And they made sure to let us know that they were close by if we needed anything while in Wausau. We liked being close to Granite Peak for daytime action, but adored being in this quiet (besides the delightful century-old noises) and relaxing home by night. Congratulations, Melissa and John. Aug 2020The property was set up with so many personal touches. I was traveling with my dog, and Melissa had out dog bowls, treats, and dog decorations. The fenced-in yard was wonderful with trees for shade. And Melissa had everything a visitor would possibly need in the kitchen. I would highly recommend this VRBO! Leer más

Oct 2021Our stay was fabulous in this extremely well-equipped, comfortably furnished, large, beautiful house. We loved all the vintage elements and the wall colors. Melissa left us all kinds of goodies (a cake and daisies for my wife's birthday!) and thoughtfully covered the living room furniture so we didn't need to do that ourselves (we brought our dog). The house is located in a beautiful neighborhood where everyone was very friendly as we walked our dog. Lots of parks to explore, and our dog really enjoyed the new 2 Hearts dog park only 5 minutes drive away from the house. My wife had a flying lesson in a 1941 biplane at the Wausau airport and we saw the fall colors on a ski lift ride at Granite Peak. Lots of restaurants (we especially liked Red Eye Brewing Company for the food and the patio which allows dogs, as well as sandwiches at La Prima downtown) in Wausau. Nov 2019Our group of five Minnesota sisters spent the weekend enjoying your home to attend a wedding. We spent two cozy mornings relaxing in chatter and laughter in the living room and dining room. We brought games but found ourselves so comfortable with our cups of coffee no need for any other activity.
Wonderful dinner the night of our arrival at the Tri City Cafe just down the road.
Thanks to Melissa who attended to our needs and we were good to go to our wedding. Everything we needed was provided for a great weekend. We definitely will be recommending the house to our cousins who may be spending lots of time in this area now that their daughter is married and located in the area.

We had everything we needed to feel right at home, celebrate Christmas and to prepare a holiday meal. The little extra touches (treats for our dog, easy to follow instructions regarding the property, the tasteful holiday decor) made this an extremely enjoyable stay. We would definitely want to come stay here again. This is by far a better option than any hotel we have stayed at in the area. The owner was easy to work with and ensured we had everything we needed. Jan 2021My family & my sister’s family rented this comfy home for a weekend ski trip. The home was perfect for 4 adults & 4 kids (with room to spare!) The layout is great & we even got to bring our dogs, who loved frolicking in the back yard. The house is dated of course, it’s old! But the layout is really great, with lots of space on the main floor & the radiator heating works superbly. The dining area is where we gathering to play games @ night & that in between/laundry room worked great for the dogs to stay crates while away. Jun 2021My family and I relocated here and we all absolutely loved our stay while we house hunted. Not only is there literally anything you could need to be comfortable for any length of stay, but the house is so gorgeous and charming. You can tell much love has gone into keeping a lot of the original look of the home while still having modern amenities. Beautifully decorated and so cozy.
Melissa is super responsive to any messages and we had a nice welcome note, treats, and coffee, which were all much appreciated. We were sad when our month stay was up to be quite honest!
