Where Is Ocho Rios?
Located on the north central coast of Jamaica lies Ocho Rios Montego Bay is the most commonly used airport to get there, roughly 90 minutes away.
What Is Ocho Rios Known For?
The name Ocho Rios is Spanish for “eight rivers,” but there are only four in the area. The former fishing village is now a resort and cruise ship port town. The town is best known for it’s all-inclusive resorts and tourist attractions. There are many outdoor adventure-themed attractions such as waterfall hikes, adventure and water parks, swimming with dolphins, and jungle swimming holes. Martin Luther King, Jr. wrote his last book here in 1967.

- Little Dunn's River Beach & Mystic Mountain Rainforest Adventures: Half a mile west of town is a picturesque, small public beach called Little Dunn's River Beach with a waterfall, popular amongst locals and visitors. Right next door is Mystic Mountain, an adventure park with water slides, rainforest zipline, and the “Jamaican Bobsled.”
- Dolphin Cove Ocho Rios: A SeaWorld-like tourist attraction where guests can swim, kiss, and play with dolphins, or feed sharks. There is also a small zoo with birds, rabbits, and reptiles. Outside photography is not allowed, so pre-book an inclusive package before arrival.
- Dunn’s River Falls: One of the most famous attractions on the island, Dunn’s River Falls is a well-known waterfall hike with lagoons and pools along the way. The hike involves walking hand-in-hand with a tour group as you cross into and up the waterfall. The falls are 600-feet high and part of one of the only rivers that flows into the Carribean Sea.

- Bob Marley Museum: A small chapel converted into a museum, the Bob Marley Museum sits near Marley’s final resting place. The tour guides are passionate and informational, but it’s important to be aware that they expect to be paid.
- Cool Blue Hole: The name Cool Blue Hole could not be more fitting as it is literally a hole of blue water in the middle of the forest. In reality, it’s made up of a few swimming holes and waterfalls rather than just one hole! Jump off cliffs, swing on the rope swings, or just wade in. It’s also a quick trip, just twenty minutes away from Ocho Rios.

- Ocho Rios Bay Beach: Ocho Rios Bay Beach is the main beach in town with Fisherman’s and Mahogany Beaches to the east and west. Restaurants, shops, accommodations, and tour operators are mostly located within a triangle created by Ocho Rios Bay Beach, Mahogany Beach, and A3 Road.
